  1. Now in my 51st year watching Norwich and what a ball I''m having. For those who can''t find it in them to congratulate S & J , I feel sorry. Why not enjoy the fact that we have a Club with minimal debt, sensible pay structure, a very good average age, and we are actually 9th in the PL. Luck. No way. As is an oft repeated saying, "You make your own luck".

  2. Just wait and see what happens at Ipswich & Man City when their ''saviours'' disappear leaving behind a sea of debt. Football is going in the direction of paying your way, and any sensible poster on this board must see that our forecasts of being debt free in the forseeable future, and turning in potential profits in the region of £18M is a sane and sustainable way to run a football club. And yes, I go back to the 50s and well rememeber what happened at our club under previous regimes.

  3. Football Clubs achieve most where there are genuine fans as owners, but they are like us and decisions are sometimes made with the heart and not the head. But then look around at the disasters where owners pump in cash for business reasons and then want away when the business turns sour. Things have not always been great in recent years, but journeys are not often staright forward and we are in better shape than many clubs now as demonstrated by the accounts from last year with wages at circa 40% of turnover, which is sensible and robust unlike another East Anglian club with staff costs of more than 100% of turnover, a recipe for disaster. Their message board is full of fans bitterly upset at their soul-less club. Glad we''ve still got her.

  4. Whilst other Football Clubs have understandably moved the concession age from 60 to 65, there are examples of better ways of dealing with this issue as opposed to our heavy handed approach. Examples include this extract from Motherwell -

"Information about changes made to the age when a senior citizen can claim a concession season ticket.

Motherwell FC recently took the decision to increase the age for concession tickets from 60 to 65, bringing the club in line with many other SPL teams. In doing so we understand that a number of season ticket holders in their early sixties who qualified for a concession last season would find themselves paying full price once again.

In order to minimise that burden the club are pleased to announce that anyone who is renewing a 2007/08 season ticket who falls into this category will be given grace to remain an “underage” senior citizen until they reach 65, and they will pay the concession rate until then and beyond. Anyone who has already renewed for 2008/09 at full price, please contact the club for information on rebates.

Anyone aged under 65 who is BUYING A NEW SEASON TICKET this season, even if they had one in previous years but did not have one in 2007/08, will pay full adult prices. They will remain a full paying adult until they reach 65. The club believe this to be a fair solution to the situation, which maximises club revenue whilst not penalising existing fans".

  5. Couldn''t agree more YS. As mentioned before in this thread both myself and other half in the same boat. Having supported City for 50 yrs, and ST for more than half that time, would have thought the Club would think twice about imposing a 60% increase without consulting us and putting at serious risk the long term commitment from a lot of similar folk. Am now seriously thinking about caling it a day at the end of this season.

  6. Sheff Wed''s relegation results in them facing administration within a few days if they don''t get a last minute buyer or investor to pay their overdue bills. Our relegation was managed (financially) pretty well, with enough investment to enable us to win the title, but more relevant to have a plan allowing us to stay in League 1 for two years if we had to. Maybe Delia and Co are not quite as bad as some (well, two) would have us believe.
