1.

Some fair points LDC and im sure every NCFC supporter would love for our side to play a "total" brand of football.

One question; why did CH not differ very much from his style/formation when chasing a game?
For me its about consistency.   Hughton seems to like keeping the same line ups with not much variation.   Keeping a consistent approach, with consistent tactics, means that everyone knows what they are doing within the framework of the team.   If he gets it working right, it will mean we won''t need to change the way we play, whether we are in front or behind in games.   If it works it works.

Yes agreed but there will come a time when we need to change things a little. Wether it be during a game or as the season progresses or even seasons after seasons. With playing the same way every game you leave yourself vulnerable to other teams knowing exactly how you will play.

I believe CH needs to have a plan B for some games.

Im a 4-4-2 man myself but nowadays that is classed as archaic and im not saying that we should play that formation, i am just stating that the game itself as a whole has moved away from it.

  2. So why did we annihilate Swansea away?   How did we murder Sunderland first half at home?  How did we beat Arsenal, MU, MC and the other matches we won?   By matching superior force with battling qualities and good play, that''s how   Negative?     The only negative was the poor run after Christmas when the ability of the midfield to be able to deliver enough quality seemed to disappear for long spells. There''s a difference between being negative and being solid.  Hughton wants his teams to be solid throughout,  build from the back (see the Brighton thread) and play through the team.   The midfield struggled at times last season because they couldn''t do that consistently.   But to call it negative is not helpful or imo, accurate.

You could say the exact polar opposite to your post.

Why did we lose 5-0 to Fulham first game, why did Liverpool put 10 past us and why did we draw so many games?

We won those games you mention purely because there was no pressure on the players and coaching staff to win so we could afford to play with freedom and attack more.

  3.
Ask a Norwich fan and it will be '' of little importance.....just about getting as many players on the pitch for game time......scoring goals irrelevant......results irrelevant.....everything will be fine once the season starts.....''.

Ask a Swansea fan and it will be '' very important......sets the tone for the start of the season....winning becomes a habit......28 goals and just 1 conceded in seven matches reminds the squad just what they''re capable of..........''.

.....might even set the team up for an impressive 4-0 victory in the first competitive match of the season....
A very valid post unique and in no way slates the club.

It really just depends on the person. I feel if you are a real winner of a person (dare i say PL) then you would want to win every game friendly or not.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who like to make little excuses as to why there team are not winning.

I would love us to win every game friendly or not but i know thats not realistic. I dont make little excuses though when we don''t and i do question why we didnt win.

    Again, depends on the person.

  4. Oh, also I wouldnt bet any money on the situation being a "CH out" situation if we do indeed have four or five poor early results........there are unfortunately, for some strange reason, people who "support" the club who apparently seem to be waiting for the bad run to happen, strange but true....

You''ve again gone off topic and opened a can of worms with this quote.

From what i am reading between the lines is (and please feel free to correct me) if a "supporter" is not happy with CH management style and the lack of results then said "supporter" is not a real "supporter"?

IMO a Norwich City supporter can always be a Norwich City supporter BUT it doesnt mean you have to like the management team/results or style of play.

  5. I think you''ve hit the nail on the head DCB. A big dose is very much needed.

My belief is that it has very much everything to do with how we shape up this year. CH has assembled a very good squad this pre season and i think if he gives the players more freedom to express themselves i think we could finish as high as 8th to 10th.

I do think it will be a difficult job trying to blend and gel all our new players and CH will really have to earn his money. If he struggles then i would think he could fall on his own sword especially if he continues to play the same way as last season. He has assembled a too good a squad for that.

IMO anywhere between 11th down to 17th is realistic.

  6. This really depends on the formation CH is going to play this season.

If its the same old boring 4-4-1-1 then i don''t really think we need another striker but i do think we need another attacking midfielder.

If CH plans to go with 2 up front then definitely we need another striker.

All this talk about another centre back gets me thinking. If we signed a starting centre back then surly either Bassong or Turner will miss out and become unhappy after all they did ''clear up'' with the trophies come end of last season. I personally would love another starter but i don''t think it would be top of our agenda now. Maybe a centre back similar in status to Bassong or Turner.

  7. LDC, i reckon you have some merit with your post. Snodgrass does whinge and moan a hell of a lot. Yes he is a good player but no where near a great player. People on here saying he is worth 10 mill plus are just being silly. We really need to be realistic and not biased over our own players when it comes to other clubs showing interest in our players. 6-7 mill maybe but in saying that i dont think the club would sell him and it really would take silly money like West Ham payed for Jarvis for the board to even batter an eyelid.

  8. Hey SeanLong7, I believe you''ve opened up a very good thread here and are asking a very valid question. Don''t listen to the haters mate because end of the day they are the real trolls who go looking to abuse people just because they don''t like someone''s opinion!

The question at hand! IMO the jury is very much still out. I really disliked the style of football we played in the middle and toward the end of last season. When you look at our unbeaten run, a lot of those games we drew. And then toward the end we played a very defensive and at times scared style of football. Villa at home a prime example. I just felt even with last seasons squad we didn''t have to play like that. We have talented players at our club who I believe just needed to ''self express'' on the pitch rather than put pressure on them and bottle them up . WBA and Man City prime examples. It was a very frustrating time for me and a lot of other NCFC supporters. I still very much think we were extremely lucky to have survived and even more lucky to have finished were we did. Because of all this I was firmly with the supporters in the ''OUT'' bracket.

With all that being said, Hughton (albeit IMO very lucky) did guide us to safety. And now with some exciting additions to our squad with hopefully two strikers to come I just can not wait for the season to kick off.

I''m giving Hughton at the least 10 games before I contemplate wether he should be IN or OUT!!!

Here''s hoping for a great season!!! OTBC!!!
