  1. It's not very surprising Grealish is potentially going for three times the price of Emi.

    • Villa are minted and don't exactly need the money
    • He's English and playing well for the national team
    • Has just had two excellent seasons in the prem
    • He's a local lad and a Villa fan, who hasn't desperately tried to force a move through
    • Has 4 years left on an expensive contract

  2. I'm also in the 'worried the story has been leaked to drum up interest' camp and am very skeptical the deal will go through. This must have been in the pipeline before the euros, and his performance for Scotland will attract interest.

One one hand, we have proven with Skipp that we can be a great destination for young players on loan and can probably provide some assurances with regards to playing time - and this gives me some hope... On the other hand, ultimately most players will take the move to the more established club 9 times out of 10.

Will be a fantastic signing if we can close the deal, but yeah... I'm a bit skeptical.

  3. I think the root cause is that this England team under Southgate play with no Identity. Players receive the ball and don't know what to do with it, so ultimately the tempo slows and passes start going sideways and backwards.

There has been plenty said about the poor selection and substitutions - but at any point in that game the players on the pitch should have been creating and converting chances.

  4. I for one am glad that the club let the supporters trust hold their decisions to account. It makes me proud to be a Norwich Fan.

If all we care about is the amount of money the club can bring in, we might as well rename the stadium the "BK8 Sausage Arena", refranchise to Milton Keynes and change the shirt colour to red so we sell more kits in the far east. We could probably buy two more players with that cash.

As for the 'suggestive acts' on this companies Instagram page...well, I absolutely guarantee you most of you and pretty much any lad and some girls as young as their early teens look up far worse on a regular basis.

I'm not sure how this justifies having that content on the main page of the clubs principal sponsor. We have fans far younger than early teens.

  6. BK8 are our "Principal Partner" and hence have a significantly larger presence in the clubs branding - which combined with the lack of embarrassing/immature marketing from Woodfordes is obviously why there has been less outrage at that deal.

People are free to enjoy drinking/gambling - I will just personally never be a walking billboard for a White Label betting firm.

Not sure I've ever been more embarrassed to be a Norwich Fan than when I went onto the bk8 Instagram page.

Well, epic lowlights here at around 4:24. Crikey...

I retract my statement. This is now the most embarrassed I've been.

Ah ok, so with the Maddison one you would have preferred we signed more expensive players instead of Buendia and gone out of business? Not really a good argument there either pal.

Why don't you wait until the end of this window. If we have spent nothing I will happily come with you to howl outside the boardroom.

I'm not saying that at all - and didn't say anything to even suggest that was my opinion.

I'm saying this sale will not "double our transfer budget". Nothing in our clubs transfer history suggests that would happen. Our net spend is massively in the favour of selling.

Blimey, I must have dreamt that we replaced Maddison with Buendia or Godfrey with Gibson, or Lewis with Gianuolis

Gibson and Gianoulis were signed with the promotion money, not from the sale of Godfrey or Lewis. At best their sales covered the loan fees.

And we spent about 3m the season we sold Maddison for 25m.

Not a great argument in support of our record for player sales being reinvested.

I'm more than happy to eat my words if we spend 60m+ this season... But I'm not holding out much hope.

Stifling the disappointment for a second...

Anyone else also a little excited to see what we do now we've effectively doubled our transfer budget?

We'll just get told that "the money comes in over a five year period and so we couldn't spend it". Like with every other player sale over the last 5 years.

  11. I've resigned myself to us selling Buendia and Aarons. I suspect we will keep Cantwell for at least another year.

It will be a tough summer navigating the right time to sell/buy - it's already tough enough not getting ripped off when clubs know you have the prem money... It's even worse if they know you have 60m+ coming in from high profile sales.

  12. Hard to begrudge him leaving, he is arguably ready for champions league football and has taken us back up to the prem. Leaving on a high and all that.

I could really see him doing well at Atletico and if there are a few teams in for him, I'd rather see him go abroad.

With regards to Premier League teams, I think the "next level" comments from Webber are very much a dig at teams like Villa who can afford the 40m but are going to be rivals next season. Even though Arsenal have had a poor year, I think they are still obviously a significant step up and if they offer the 40 - he'll be off.

But hopefully we'll keep him! Stranger things have happened.

  13. I'm sure Webber regrets the bottom three rejects quote he made last time. It was fairly odd stance and if he stood by it, we'd be looking to shift Pukki, Buendia, Krul etc.

There are definitely players in those three squads who would improve us.

I would be a bit worried if I were a Fulham fan. Despite the fact they were the best of the three relegated teams, half their squad and most of the best performers were on loan.

  14. From watching these videos it looks like an incredibly overpriced gimmick... The sort of thing you'd see at a games arcade that no one uses because it costs £5 a pop.

However maybe that's why I'm not working in the football business. If Webber/Farke think it's worth it, then I'm sure if will be useful.

  15. Wes spent 10 years at the club and was arguably our best player for many of them.

I can't say I blame Wes for wanting a move during Hughton's dire second year where he barely got a kick despite the team's poor performance - especially when the club that wanted him was managed by the man who had built a team around him before.

He said some things I'm sure he regrets, but he put it to bed and ended up giving his best performances (in my opinion) in the years following.

10 years is such a rarity in the modern game, I genuinely can't believe some are ignoring this for some comments to a journalist and a muted celebration.

  16. I was concerned about how Quintilla dealt with Sarr in the Watford game. Sarr seemed to be turning him inside out on a whim and that is going to be the challenge every week next season.

He is a good player still, and I'm sure Farke/Webber will make the right call - but I would be surprised if we activate the option on him with Giannoulis already signed.

  17. I was hoping he would get another year possibly as a player/coach to earn a testimonial. However I'm sure the club will find a way to give him a good send off nonetheless.

Always given 100% and from the sounds of it is a brilliant presence in the dressing room. Definitely a legend in my book. Hopefully he has a fulfilling coaching career!
