they always used to put at least 1 player from the hosting club to attract punters to U21 games - perhaps they will do that again and pick Martin or Smith Having looked at the team for their last game , doesn;t thrill me at all
This game is too important for them to pick Korey or C Martin just to attract some extra crowd. It is the first leg in the play-off to get to the European Championship and if England failed to make it, it will be another black mark against young English players. Also if you aren''t excited by Wilshere and Rodwell then I don''t know who would excite you; these two will be the England midfield pairing in the future and will hopefully play better together than Lampard and Gerrard.
I thought Wilshere was on the bench in the previous game - a good player , but until he learns to tackle he will have problems - Rodwell will move to one of the big four ( Probably Man Utd ) not play many games and stagnate - however if Gerrard can misplace as many passes as he does and still captain England then teh sights are not set too high

Just interested why the dislike of Histon?  Have been there a couple of times in the last year or so and found them very hospitable and a well run outfit.

They are a tiny club only where they are due to a rich benefactor - who has now pulled out , virtually no fans and the playing style of Wimbledon in the 80''s - just loathesome

Would like to get up there for a game one day.
Forgot them - we nipped in whilst on holiday and the bloke let us kick a ball around on teh pitch ( i was about 11 I suppose ) always had a soft spot since

Robins comes on to make his debut and we score 4 2nd half.Leeds ''92/93 4-0.   Gossy''s "Van Basten" goal of the season.Scum ''03/04 2-1. "Top of the League at Portaloo Rd"Chelsea ''92/93  3-2.  Beasant''s howlersWycombe ''93/94  2-0. FA Cup 3rd round. Sutton scored both goals. Went with a group in a minibus and stopped in Baldock for a beer on the way home. 10 mins later City coach pulled up and Walker brought the whole team in for a beer while Tim Shepherd went to the chippy next door. Had a great time celebrating with Fox, Sutton, Bowen, etc. Within a couple of  months, Walker had gone to Everton and the team was broken up.Blackburn ''92/93 1-7.  We went there top of the Premier League. It was chucking down with rain while we were all on the old crumbling terrace watching the goals go in from Sutton & Co.. When it got to 5 someone started a conga and by 6 + 7 we were even cheering the goals in. Bizarre but it was a great laugh.Huddersfield ''09/10  3-1. Took my 6 yr old to her first away game. Feared the worst when we were battered for 1st half and went 1-0 down. Then 2nd half Holt dragged us back into it and we went on to win comfortably. My daughter loved the atmosphere with 3000 Norwich and she''s now hooked.Man Utd  ''88/89  2-0.  Bit hazy on this one but I remember seeing us beat Utd at OT with Drinkell scoring the winner.Liverpool  ''88/89 1-0.  Not sure who scored now but I couldnt celebrate as I was with a Scouse mate in the Kop that day. He knew about it all weekend though!
Wycombe away - Walker had already gone

  6. costings have been inflated for these first two games , summer time is always a problem for getting casual supporters , neither visiting club has bought many fans with them and people are away at the moment - I findit interesting that we have 20.500 season ticket holders - so just over 3,000 casual sales ( including visitors ) - I make that around 2,500 home casual ticket holders on Saturday , people put off by the high price I assume

Will be interesting to see the BArnsley attendence - being a grade B game and when life returns to normal after the summer , if that does not sell out then the club may have to rethink things

  7. i begrudge paying anything - the event was the OPEN DAY - the fans chance to see things they don;t normally - to charge for that seems a bit mercenary - my kids love to go and get autographs etc and see trophy room / cabinet - got a few autographs this year becasue the queues were so short - Zero chance of one next year I would think

  8.
I may have missed a trick here but are people actually complaining about the £1 charge for the open day? Sounds like a good deal to me!
Previous years probably around 8,000 - 10,000 at the event - yesterday probably around 3,000 , never seen players with no queues for autographs , and looking to finish the signings early - half the ground blocked off - nowhere near as good as in previous years and I firmly believe the £ 1 charge per person was to blame , a free couple of hours ( crisps drinks excluded of course ) now turns into a £ 5 excursion for an average size family - had the open day always been charged then fair enough ,but to be free and now no longer puts people off , had my son not signed up for the FITC session I wouldn;t have bothered ( even that only had 7 boys - previous years has been two dozen )

Jim and gary, i agree that the club can`t push it too far.  I just want people to look at the bigger picture and hold in mind that we now have a regime at the club who are ambitious for our football team and ask themselves, after years of lower than average prices, isn`t that worth paying a few quid extra for?

If Lambert hadn`t been backed this summer, he could well have walked citing lack of ambition and there would rightly have been uproar.  If season tickets had gone up 15-20% rather than the modest 6% there would have been uproar.  But as it stands Lambert was backed to the hilt, we have a strong, exciting squad and season-tickets remain very reasonable.  To me, it makes whining about a few quid extra here and there seem very petty and myopic.
Okay , accept that point of view and there is a fine line between ambition and recklessness , I suspect that a good proportion of fans can afford to and would pay more for tickets , the problem I can see is that families , students , lower income fans can;t and as such will be lost to the club although still followers they won;t attend games and will drift away , I want the best for my club , but I do not want us to be some corporate machine rather than teh community club we all know and love

It`s a balancing act and i think you`re right that the club know that there is enough demand for those 6k or so casual seats to push it a bit, even if some people go to fewer games as a result.

I think a few warning shots across the bows of the club not to push it too far are fine, but what annoys me is that those people moaning about the childrens friendly prices don`t mention that a competetive game coming up is all of £1 and that they have presumably been taking advantage of the ridiculously low kids season-ticket prices for years.

I`ve always assumed that all supporters want the most successful team we can have on the pitch, but the attitude coming across from some is a bit like "We`ll watch any old cr*p as long as it`s cheap".  If we want our club to continue investing in the team we`re going to have to accept paying a bit more imo.
That competitive game is Gillingham - a game where we are likely to " rest " players - I quote an example of prices affecting attendences

Sunderland Carling cup - full prices 13,000

Brentford Paint Pot - discount prices 12,500 with stands closed so would probably have got more

People are not flush with cash in Norfolk , the club has got prices right over the past few years and the result ahs been full houses - I remember when we used to get 15,000 regularly and 20,000 was a red letter day ,

The club needs to be careful that they do not price average fans out of the game experience , it seems to me that they have now gone down a road of making money and maybe it is the going rate for Football , but norfolk people are not daft and it won;t take much to see season ticket sales fall and crowds go back down to 19,000 every week

I understand that prices charged reflect the ability to buy players etc , but the gate receipts we are always told do not make any dent into the playing budget

We are in Norfolk and we do differnet here

  12. Fully support the Watford fans view - £ 31 is ridiculous for a second division football match - somewhere around £ 20 is probably reasonable , We now have no grounds for complaint at any other clubs prices at all and in fact can;t be surprised if we find that other clubs reciproate the pricing levels , local clubs have for a long time moaned about lack of crowds , well if NCFC charge as they are - increase in ground food and drink prices as well , you may find clubs such as Wroxham , Norwich United , Dereham etc gain fans who prefer to pay £ 8 - 10 and see a decent level of football

Ludicrous costs now to watch preofessional football , out of my league completely

  13. the SCG seemed to me to very much agree with the club in every way - was there ever any dissent at all in those meetings , most were people who travel away to friendlies and reserve matches , so all they have is football and as such are out of touch with the less " anoraky " type fan - to them they pay whatever it takes and that is their life , if teh clubs want to increase orices then they would still turn up to EVERY match and the club are wonderful , for the majority of people this is not the case

  14. why should prices rise ? they are exceptionally high as it is compared to other entertainment events - for me , my 16 year old and 10 year old to go to both friendlies is £ 80 - ridiculous , I can take all four of my kids to the zoo for a FULL day for about £ 65 , prorities will come into play and football , whilst good is not a priority in teh larger scheme of things
