1. CANARYCHARGE - hadn''t thought of it like that, but now you mention it ;-)Cheers Snakepit boysCanary02 III - not sure it qualifies as "therapy", but he was born in West London and his mother (and her family) are Chelsea fans. Perhaps thats a cure?! <urgh, now I feel dirty>Downloads - a baptism of fire! Grateful for any advice you can give on how you managed the situa-shon - have a feeling I will have to call on it in the years to come. Although now I think about it, the boy will come in with no/low expectations.

  2.
You could find 8 or 9 decent players from anywhere around the world (who speak different languages even) and added one or two dodgy players to the equation and they still would not get thumped at home 7-1 to the mighty Colchester Utd regardless of who the manager or is or even if they had never been managed together as a team before.

Sitting clowns like that down to watch a video nasty and hoping that they will get it right next time beggars belief!
Since nobody else has, I''m calling bullsh*t on several counts; You make the mistake that the coaching staff & team themselves - it appears - have made of completely underestimating the footballing opposition this season. The sarcastic use of "mighty", for example. In some other thread you compare this league to pub or Sunday football saying [I''m paraphrasing] that there is little difference. Thinking in this complacent and arrogant way will lead to League Two. "find 8 or 9 decent players" - oh yeah, at what price?"regardless of who the manager is" - so by extension of that logic, none of this can be Gunns'' fault?!

  3. Very much the end of that ...for this transfer window. Hughes quoted after last nights match in F365;

"He has a big future and

that has been demonstrated by the amount of phone calls I have had from

Championship managers wanting to get him out on loan.

"But I think I am going to frustrate a lot of teams at that

level because he will not be going anywhere in this transfer window."

  4. On the merits, or otherwise, of Smudgers'' posts - free speech, nuff said. You don''t have to bite and reply. Personally, I think his criticisms are valid ...if you are used to a diet of (mainly) top quality football fed to you by the TV (highlights shows in general, but Premier League, Champions League, Spanish Prima Liga etc etc) then anything that City serve up will taste poorer in comparison. Whether its transfers, or the quality of football on display, its the expectation, stupid. Can''t be bothered to find out who the quote is attributed to, but "it''s the hope that kills you".

As to the Murray transfer itself, I am also in the camp that thinks it''s an astute move - on paper. We lack the funds (and Premiership status) for quality and indeed for squad depth in pure numbers terms, so versatility is one of the requirements  for acquisitions. Defensively we need both quantity and quality - we have another body, I''ll watch with interest to see how good he is. Don''t watch any Scottish football (not a slight against it, just a fact) so I''m in the dark.

Grant appears to be playing the hand dealt to him quite well, in the short time he has been at the helm. At the very least, he is quickly addressing weaknesses in the squad that had persisted for far too long - IMHO. As brighter sparks than me have noted, the transfer window is still open and offers opportunity still. When it closes, the loan options will become clearer for those teams below the Prem.

  5. Haven''t posted for ...a very long time. Annoyed by the posters getting at each other - this thread being a classic example.

Is it really so hard to recognise that this is a good piece of

business? Our taste of the premiership last year seems to have inflated

everybodies expectations. City always were and always will be a selling

club. This is just another example.

Posters should also remember (as some have highlighted) that transfers

are a game in themselves. Heck even the BBC quote Pardew as saying he

thinks they overpaid - that is a testament to the NCFC boards'' handling

    of this situation.
