1. When looked at purely in terms of transfer fees or wages it is "against all odds" as you say. I can see why you pointed out Villa, but perhaps Stoke serves your argument even better. And as for this board recently - today in particular - I only hope the players and coaching staff don''t read it. I only started posting again recently because I don''t see why this message board should be left to the retards.

  2. Yep, would like to see him back but couldn''t actually see it happening. About as likely to happen as getting Ryan Betrand back, which I also wouldn''t mind.By the way, did anyone else see the moment in the Chelsea v Spurs match when Lennon was sprinting away with the ball on the break and Walker ran past him and took the ball off him. Amazing speed!

  3. You could say it''s just Wigan losing their game in hand but everyone assumed Wigan would win that game in hand. Wigans'' squad is looking stretched and a quick trip to Arsenal after a tiring outing at Wembley will not do them any favours. And some might say there was a hysterical over-reaction to the Villa loss, magnified & multiplied by the Lambert factor. It''s not over yet and we could still go down. However, 2 games to go, it''s in our hands and Wigan have it all to do [and that might not be enough] and Newcastle aren''t out of it either. Oh, and the top v bottom clashes are all "alive" as the race for Champions League isn''t over yet. Except of course for Man City who should have the flip-flops on as they parade the FA Cup.

Its laughable people think Martinez is so wonderful when year after year Wigan only cling onto top flight status by their finger tips when their budget would be substantial and far greater than ours which would probably be in the bottom 3!
In his defence he has to sell 1 or 2 of his best players every year. I have read ...somewhere... a case made that by the time he gets his side intergated/adjusted to loss of last years best and has new talent bedded it''s post-Christmas and the Wigan resurgence starts. It''s an idea with some merit I suppose.
Look at our squad, how many of them would other premiership teams want?
Which may work in our favour - in the sense that for the first time (ever?) we don''t have to sell anyone even if offers come in. We can build with what we have without having to repair first.
If we stay up then it''ll be job done as far as I''m concerned although with a big cautionary MUST IMPROVE tagged onto it!
Agreed

  5.
Ol Red Nose? Show some respect.
Many worse and less accurate alternatives available, but you decide to step in at that? He doesn''t need you - or anybody - to demand respect on his behalf.

Since Moyes seems to have the job and Ol Red Nose [what I did there - did you see it?!] has recommended him it seems "continuity" and "legacy" are likely to see backroom staff kept. As opposed to Mourinho coming in with his own staff, for example. So a few of you (us) share the sentiment about shaking up the coaching staff - maybe Hughton does too and it won''t just be new players arriving in the summer.

  6. I do wonder if next year will be a rare case - in recent years - of those coming up going straight back down. Cardiff and Hull have been, shall we say, more consistent than others. Damning them with feint praise. Reasonable amounts of money to spend but there appears to be a real gap in quality and I''m not sure either offers as much as Reading did. Neither have set the division alight or shown that they are a class apart.Of those in the play-offs; Leicester might be the ones to watch out for assuming they still have money to burn. Touch of the QPRs about them though - more money than sense. Maybe they leanr that lesson though.Brighton the greatest potential to yo-yo for the next few years -assuming they build on Poyets foundations or keep him. Palace most likely to struggle. Watford would be media darlings as far as Zola is concerned but remains to be seen how they can exploit the Italian and Spanish links. Would the Pozzo family move valuable assets to the Premier League at the expense of Udinese and Granada? If they did and Zola can get them to gel they might stay up. If they don''t and can''t replace all these loan players then straight back down.

  7. 6 as things stand....based on current wind direction and the price of coffee in Brazil. Ask again in two games time because it''s 2 if we go down, 10 if we stay up.Including my 6 rating and based on posts up to Nutty Nigel, I make it;Median 5.5Mode 4Mean 5.26Looking just at those who said "if we stay up", Chris Hughton will be delighted with a 7.4 rating. Exclude those and he manages a measly 4.7.Not sure why you posted a 3 and a 5.5 Vanwink, perhaps you are perpetuating the multiple identities mystery.

  8. Smug, as in the Man Utd big club arrogance, or is there something more to that comment? I couldn''t really speak to the character of the man - his ultra bland post-match comments left no impression on me and I was a kid when he played for us. However, a winners attitude sometimes goes hand-in-hand with being a bad loser.Isn''t he in the NCFC Hall of Fame?! Lack of interest in this thread and your comment makes me think there''s more to his story regarding Norwich than I knew/realised. (Or perhaps less strong a link than I supposed).

  9. Little chance of him getting the top job at Man Utd. Whoever the new manager is would presumably bring their own staff, particularly with old red nose hovering upstairs as ambassador/honorary whatever. So where would that leave Phelan? If he were to be available I don''t think our club should miss the chance to bring him back. With Hughtons blessing or not. I know he was here under Megson, but look at what he has done since and what that could bring to City in terms of the whole club not just the first team coaching. Would be a significant upgrade on Calderwood et al.Just a thought.

  10. Won''t get a chance to see for myself until Brentford. The text update from Pinkun Pete suggests Doc was very nervous in 1st half and didn''t deal very well with what was thrown at him. Maybe we could be kind on him and say it is understandable after 1-7. Maybe we could be harsh on Gunn and say why pick a f*cking captain that always looks petrified. Looking at the next two games, only two days apart, can we afford to change pairing at the back again on Sat? I would argue not, as we would probably want to rotate from Sat to Tue. Don''t envy Gunn on that choice.

  11. Thanks to the OP for providing those notes.Interesting points YellowRider re:2. Can''t  believe that no-one responded to the challange .....''to

find a manager'' (if I have read your report right). It was OBVIOUS that

Boothroyd and Malky should have been given the jobs. Is it not the case

that they were not prepared to agree to an 18th month contract though??

Yeah, astonishing if true - was everyone at the bar at that point or sneaked out for a cigarette? What city fan couldn''t name an alternative? And why are MWJ and DS allowed to get away with they "what would you do" type responses anyway - astounding arrogance.3. how on earth can MWJ get away with that comment on The Turners

for christs sake!! These guys put £2M into the business, carried out a

''root and branch'' review. They suddenly then resign 12 months later and

we are meant to believe that NO-ONE KNOWS WHY!!
Sounds like a simple cover for something unpalatable (to MWJ and DS). It is more likely that they do know but they are just not sharing with the fans - fair enough, as it is of little concern right now. We can only hope the Stowmarket2 acted on the outcome of the review.

    1. The ''sale / not for sale/ investment'' issue is full of holes,

half truths, contradictions and spin that we are no further forward.

Even last night Smith and her old man seem to be contradicting

    themselves.
Hmmm, there are plenty of dubious statements from the cook, but I do wonder in general if the subject matter is beyond the average fan. No slight or dig, just the way I see it. Example... a point made somewhere else was regarding "how can they get new investment, not sell and not be majority shareholders". Answer - issue new shares to the new investor, diluting the current majority holding. Easy enough to say but harder to execute, of course. And the whole argument about our matchday income vs wages - therein lies the major problem. For years, we have p*ssed money away on wages (loan or our own) faster than we can take it in. Land deals and such - sit on them and wait it out, thats investment. But day-to-day cashflow - don''t f*ck about!! Maybe McNally is really earning his salary here - with the players brought in I would imagine a huge reduction in wages far greater (proportionally) than our drop in income. And if not - why not!! Rather watch our youth team fight it in this division than players we have to pay over the odds for to "entice them here". If fanbase + stadium + club + area doesn''t attract them then that is all we need to know - next! We obviously can''t afford to compete on wages so why did we do so. Surely it makes more sense to pay over the odds on the transfer fees, give the man a "fair for division salary" [easy to benchmark] and include significant performance related component directly related to our league position and results. And I don''t mean win bonuses of a couple hundred - that means very little to a player on several thousand a week. Anyway I''m off to see how I can join these Capital Canaries...

  12. And since I have no reputation let me declare my interests;Responding to the OP - yes, it''s possible we could get relegated. Getting rid of Gunn would increase our chances of avoiding that fate. Is now the right time to get rid - IMHO only if we have somebody lined up to replace him. Delia - no love for the nonsense she spouts, the unprofessional streak that manifests itself too frequently ... I even think she is over-rated as a cook [is there a shock/horror smiley].NCFC needs to man up, focus on the pitch, ship the cook out, says thanks & goodbye to Gunn as manager.

  13.

You could find 8 or 9 decent players from anywhere around the world (who speak different languages even) and added one or two dodgy players to the equation and they still would not get thumped at home 7-1 to the mighty Colchester Utd regardless of who the manager or is or even if they had never been managed together as a team before.

Sitting clowns like that down to watch a video nasty and hoping that they will get it right next time beggars belief!
Since nobody else has, I''m calling bullsh*t on several counts; You make the mistake that the coaching staff & team themselves - it appears - have made of completely underestimating the footballing opposition this season. The sarcastic use of "mighty", for example. In some other thread you compare this league to pub or Sunday football saying [I''m paraphrasing] that there is little difference. Thinking in this complacent and arrogant way will lead to League Two. "find 8 or 9 decent players" - oh yeah, at what price?"regardless of who the manager is" - so by extension of that logic, none of this can be Gunns'' fault?!
This league is CRAP and only the leaders of little ol'' Norwich would have you believe otherwise.

Speak to any Leicester fan and ask them exactly what they think of this league.

You have the odd good player here and there and the rest of it is pub footballers who have had a lucky break here and there and washed up has beens.
Your reputation is well-earned. OK, Premier League is on a different scale. Gaps between divisions narrow as you work down the hierarchy, but to suggest that Lge1 has "the odd good player here and there and the rest of it is pub footballers" is CRAP. Suggest you consult more widely than Leicester fans in future.
