1. I went to white hart lane. Over hearing Norwich fans during the game having a heated arguement really pissed me off.

One city fan was moaning from 5 mins in until the end of the game about Wesley hoolahan not playing . Get a grip. I love Wes and think he is class but Ffs stop moaning and get behind them.

    People moaning about tactics.

Get over it. Lambert has gone. Under Lambert it was exciting you score one we will score two. Under Hughton or any other manager it will be different. We have to accept this if not we are in trouble!

I don''t mind the odd moan but

The constant moan about one player being out is a joke ref Wes.

Then morison came on.... Now I''m not morisons biggest fan. However I believe I know his strengths and weaknesses . Yesterday when he came on he was top class.

I heard loads moaning about him. One guy shouting , f off back to stevenage.!

People, get a grip. Get behind Hughton and morison and the rest of the lads if not enjoy licking the championship.

  2. Spot on Scooby. I didn''t go but watched the re run on sky last night. Holt looked back to his best. Shame he didn''t test the keeper more but that might have sonething to do with hill trying to rugby tackle Holt everytime. Because Holt was a pain in the bum for qpr was the reason Jackson got lots of space. They work well together. Anyway 1 goal every two games means holty should bag one saturday! No pressure

  3. I went to the game tonight

We bossed it. Back four were solid. Turner and r.Bennett had an understanding.

Howson a quiet game sat in front of back 4. had an understanding. Howson a quiet game sat in front of back 4. Johnson beside him.

    e. Bennett and pilks look our best players with all the creativity , both lively. Snodgrass in the hole behind Holt. Snodgrass looked good going forward but was really slow esp when we were out of possession?,

Holt done ok but a bit off the pace for him. In all we look very solid but I prefer 2 up top with more movement up top

. We made a load of subs on 70 mins. Morrison up top with Vaughan, c.martin on the left , Jackson right. But we looked disjointed then . Suppose just topping up on fitness.

Only a friendly and hard to judge but I think turner is gonna be a major player for us next season.

Suprised no Wes , not even on the bench. Not fair to judge snoddy on one friendly but judging on that he is nowhere near as good as Wes playing off the striker.

Fans .. well awful support all around. Esp hull for the home team. Reckon we took about 250 fans at a guess.

  4.
Last season Chris Hughton had a certain Kevin Phillips in his squad at Birmingham to add that vital piece of experience to the front line, and he did a fairly good job by all accounts so you just never know in football.

I can''t see Owen coming here for a few reasons though, age, wages, injuries etc...that said i always rated him as a younger player and the goals v Argentina and Germany for England will live long in the memory!!!!
Didn''t Phillips play for Blackpool last season?

  5.
Yes, massive appreciation for Croftsy... It''s good to see.

He was my choice for player of the season in our year in the championship. Such a valuable asset in that league.

The strike at Barnsley... wow. I, like many others clearly, will never forget that one.

Good luck Crofts! Brighton will undoubtedly welcome you back with open arms.
Yes great goal that day and won us the game at sheff utd with his two smash and grab goals. A great brace.

  6. Was brilliant for us in the championship. Was suprised he didn''t quite make the step up to the prem. I think he has more ability than he gets credit for.

I really thought as others did that he would push on and become a star in the top flight.

Good luck crofty , you will always be welcome back at the carra.

  7. Your clearly a johno fan Gareth. Like I said I like him but he is not the complete defensive midfielder. Yes he can pass . But anything over 6 metres he fails to deliver more often than not. I believe he knows this so made so many (or was told to) short passes.

Whenever he plays I love it when he wins a ball and plays that short pass to someone like howson or fox. But when he trys it himself he fails more times than not.

You watch next time and you will know what I mean.

But to get that complete defensive midfielder take johno and add fox or howsons passing ability then we have one hell of a player. Then the likes of a Wesley or playing that 2nd /3 rd striker is possible whilst remaining strong at the back.

  8. I like Bradley johnson. But his game is limited. He is outstanding at breaking up play and out fighting his man. However he lacks that pass and can''t shoot for toffee.

That said ye showed he is good enough at this level but his game is limited. So no he does not fit the characteristics I listed. Ability at this level he lacks.

  9. You watch a different game to me. Parker is just like Johnson in his break up play. But parker can make that pass that maybe Johnsonlacks. He is a defensive midfielder he done just that for England and spurs last season. He is more like Johnson but with some ability than howson.

Anyway comparisons aside , all I was trying to say was we were lacking that big, strong defensive midfielder that has ability last season . Of course that person would come at a price but to improve the squad thats what we need imo. On the same level we needed an experienced defensive rock at the back. I believe we have him now in turner.

  10. Fans always take them too seriously because they have missed the footy over the summer so get excited with themselves when its a poor performance / result. We have had poor pre seasons and had great seasons visa versa .

New manager, backroom staff, trying out different formations , getting to know each other whilst topping up on game time fitness that what pre season is about. Judge hughton and his boys 10 games into the season.

  11. Why does everyone go on about howson for captain? Yes he was captain at Leeds but that does not make him a great candidate. He may well have been given it to keep him sweet to stay at Leeds. Oh Snodgrass spring to mind?

Howson is a great player. But for me the captain should be vocal , he able to stick up for his team mates and give the players a lift when the going gets tough. Being respected in the dressing room aswell helps. A big character also.

For me Holt wins hands down.

Who wore the arm band v Ajax? Because the 1st two friendlies hotly wore it.

  12. Hardly any of lamberts signings looked impressive at the start.

If Lambert would have made these signings would you be moaning?

I''m more impressed with the signing of turner. I don''t doubt Snodgrass is good but we have a lot of competition and quality in midfield already. We also must remember he has never played at the top level before and there is a lot of expectation about him.

Turner on the other hand has experience in the top flight. Last pre season loads of people , me included were saying we needed an experience premier league centre back matty upson name was mentioned by many.

Turner has that experience and we are getting him in his prime years. Really who do people expect us to sign in that position? Check turners history and you will see he has been player of the season several times at several of his clubs. He also chips in with the goals and will give us that steal , strength and calmness at the back we have been missing. I bet john ruddy is happy turner has joined. The likes of martin will be great along side him or young Bennett will grow long side a solid experienced player in turner.

  13. My work mates gave us Grant holts shirt he wore in a league game in the championship promotion season, framed and signed by the big man, still with mud all over it! Lucky for me a work mate is related to a pro footballer and managed to get the shirt off holty. Cheers holty a top, top wedding present for me anyway. The Mrs was not too impressed!! Ha ha it is hanging proudly next to a framed signed hucks shirt and squad signed centenary shirt.

  14.
We have just spent had a long hard summer getting Holt back on side. It really wouldn''t make sense to put his nose out of joint again by stripping him of the captaincy. I still think regardless of that he is the best man for the job. He is the talisman and the man we will all be looking to when the chips are down this season.
spot on jacko a lot of people miss this point. When the going gets tough holt rallies the troops. When holt is not on the pitch and it gets tough we go missing. We have loads of former captains of other clubs but who says they were any good and who''s knows who will start most games?
