A very strange signing in my opinion... hopefully Lambert knows something that I don''t and it is just a temporary measure until the end of the season (with no plans to make the move permanent during the summer).

He is only 5''9" so no back up for Holty if he is to miss a few more games between now and the end of the season.  As far as I know he is also not blessed with bags of pace and could only be described as an average Championship striker at best with approx a one goal in 4 or 5 games ratio.

Am set to be proved wrong as I have been a few times this season, but I for one am not overwhelmed with this signing.  It makes me wonder even more why we were not tabling a bid for the likes of Barnard and Puncheon.

    Mmmmm!

    Lol...

  2.

Yes, thats it for me. I think he reads the game and will drop off his defender, like I saw he did a few times today, and isnt a run-around, all action Grant Holt type player, and never will be. They have different styles, and I think Martins style is picked up by some fans as laziness, but I believe this to be totally unfair. I personally think he is very hard working and a clever striker.
Are you describing a league 1 Shearer and Sheringham partnership ? [:)]  It will be interesting to see what they can do in the Championship, Martin has already shown that he can score at that level, I see no reason why Holt can''t score 15 in a season, which is no bad haul in that league, and with others chipping in from around the pitch, I reckon we probably have a decent championship team already.
Well you could say that! [:)] You need strikers that compliment each other and Holty and Chris do that well, I can see them both scoring goals in the Championship too.

  3.
Chris is not the paciest striker but he has speed of thought and that gives him an edge over players who are just fast. He is hard to knock off the ball and almost invariably uses the ball well and inventively. He links play effectively. Chris is an excellent finisher and as he has done for many of his goals this season put real weight behind the shot which led to his goal. He is playing where Lambo wants him and in the way he is required to play. The lad is young, local and I for one love seeing our own doing well. He really needed a goal though and that was obvious from the reaction of other players - especially Holty. I think his goal will bring his confidence back up and he will have a good run in. If anyone is lazy it is the majority of Canary Callers who have limited opinions based on no reasoning, usually quickly dispelled, and more often than not a question rather than a point of view.
[Y] Agree with all that.

He is very lazy without the ball,FACT!but he is a very good finisher
It''s not laziness.  Watch Match of the Day, and listen to the analysis of the top forwards, Slaven Bilic made some good comments on Craig Bellamy a couple of weeks ago I think.  Top forwards like Bellamy will often create space for themselves when defenders are tracking back by ambling in at a slower pace.  It''s not laziness, it is called thinking a move ahead and creating an option.
Exactly. His critics seem to think you have to run around like a headless chicken to be classified as NOT lazy.

To me it suggests that Martin reads the game very well - fitness permitting, could he be a lower league version of Teddy Sheringham, with the longevity that Teddy enjoyed ?

Yeah he''s left sided isn''t he? I see options! Will keep Lappin on his toes too.
No thats Stuart Elliott.

  7.

The only comparison I was making was height comparison, hence I said I hope he doesnt play like him.
Do you not consider that plucking Jamie Cureton out as your comparison may be, subconsciously saying something though?

Anyway, moving on, I consider this a reasonable signing, and about a million times more likely to succeed than Dickov (Whose height I don''t know)
Lol. No. The only reason I brought up such a comparison was because you asked if he was a target man, and a target man is usually tall. Therefore I compared his height to a recent striker who I thought was fairly similar, to tell you he was not really a target man type of striker. Maybe I should have just said no, he is not a ''target man''. [:)]
Anyone know anything about him?

Target man to replace Holt when he gets suspended?
No, small and Curo built. Bloody hope he doesnt play like him. [:S]
Just checked on Wiki, and he''s 5 foot 9.

So hardly small, but not a target man.
Well I''d say thats small. [:S] Below average...

But yes he is not a target man.
