So what did he mean by ' Pi$$ing £100million up the wall ' if it was not used on improvements at Colney and other infrastructure ? My money is on he was on about wasting it on desperate signings like Naismith etc.

Where do you think he meant it was spent if it wasn't on players and the wage bill with long contracts  ?

I know that's where the money went and have not denied it. But the interview he did at the time referenced having all that money and never improving the club and thats where the quote came from. Yes Webber has had transfers that haven't worked, but as we can all see, under him there has been money spent on improving the infrastructure that was previously neglected.

Has Webber's "pissing money up the wall" comment ever bitten someone in the backside quite as hard?

This quote was about having lots of premier league money and never investing in the infrastructure behind the scenes, such as the training facilities. It's constantly taken out of context and used to bash Webbers transfers but isn't really relevant.

Not sure this will do anything to a fan's expectation level. RVW's marketing campaign probably played a small part but I belive that most of the hype back then was fee + his scoring record at previous clubs. I think we're more mature a fanbase now, the novelty of silly money has worn off (untill we hit the 15m up front incomings i guess).

Be afraid of the big bad WOLF!

Bullls**t did they, you didn't even know about it.

I don't read every tweet and article about the club so I didn't see it. Doesn't mean they didn't do it.

The article itself is from the start of the year. So the moment they released it is them promoting them.

Here's the club tweeting about the partnership in January.

I bet a quick Google or check of the Scallop site would also find them using the club for credibility since then too.

The club won't be actively promoting them until it's officially launched and thus correct licensing granted, if you read the statement on the website, clearly explained at the start of the year:

    https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/club-announces-scallop-as-new-primary-partner

Hence why you're unaware today, it's not even launched in the UK yet.

The club effectively started promoting them at the beginning of this year as soon as they announced the partnership.

    What even is "Legit"?!

Conforming to the required laws. In this case they are claiming to be a bank as well as an exchange and cannot see anywhere that they have an actual banking licence which would protect depositors for is or when it all goes wrong. Like the company Celius someone mentioned here who are now holding everyones money.

On the one hand, we parade our status as the paupers of the Premier League, poor but honest. On the other, we seem to be increasingly fussy about who can sponsor the club. Go figure.

Surely being poor but honest is even more reason that the club should be fussy about where they take their money from? We can't be both the self funding club trying to do things different to the rest and then take gambling/crypto currency because others are?

No idea, my post was from my memory, it's worth looking up what the club said at the time. I do recall that Scallop had some kind of license but I've no idea what sort.

    https://www.forbes.com/uk/advisor/investing/whats-the-score-with-football-and-crypto/

The above has some more info re football & crypto. It looks like some clubs are embracing it in a big way whereas we are just beginning to explore the possibilities.

I looked at the licenses and they have one in Estonia to trade cryptocurrency and the other is a Canadian one that allows them to transfer currency from one to another. Nothing for banking which is what they are promoting as their USP.

Have seen some of the bits other clubs and players are doing. Nearly all of it just feels like another way to fleece fans.

It was announced about 5 months ago, I think there was some mention of it in the last OSP meeting and the reasoning from the club was that they were only following what all the other clubs were doing, one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't things.

I suppose at the end of the day it's up to the individual if they want to put their money in Crypto/Fan Tokens, personally I wouldn't go near it.

Thanks for this. Personally don't think their reasoning is great but did they mention anything about how they looked into it to ensure they are legit?

Anybody who invests into the crypto scams and pozi schemes gets when they deserve when said schemes collapse and cause nothing but major loses.

    Very disappointing from our club.

Don't think anyone deserves that. Surely it is up to the club to do their diligence and ensure the one they promote isn't one of those scams.

  11. Didn't realise the club has a crypto partner. Looks rather suspect too. Claims to be a UK business, also claims to be a bank (but isn't FCA regulated).

Would have thought after the BK8 fiasco someone at the club would do some due diligence (or just avoid things they dont understand). Especially when the crypto world is full of rug pull scams, ponzis and **** coins.

This details the owner who says they are a bank trying to get regulated. Their Reddit also mentions they are a regulated bank a number of times.

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/scallop-ceo-raj-bagadi-future-151218656.html

According to the last set of UK accounts in October 2021 (a few months before the club announced them as a partner) they are a dormant company. So where did the money come from as according to this they have none.

    https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12764221/filing-history

They also seem to be registered in Estonia with 12,000 Euros of working capital under a name that appears on dozens of other businesses a number of which seem to be crypto focused.

    https://b2bhint.com/en/company/ee/scallop-group-eu-ou--16091996

Just for fun, also check out their promotional info. Lots related to climbing mountains, very on topic at the club and on the Pink Un right now.

    https://www.linkedin.com/company/scallopx

Would be interested to know how legit these are if anyone on here has some blockchain/crypto knowledge because from a club perspective there are quite a few red flags.

Failed badly with the penalty coaching. Didn't last long with the England set up after that.

He got fired just before the Euros in 2021, a couple years after the world cup where we won our only penalty shoot out and the first one is some time.

The reason he got fired was nothing to do with his performance. Was actually because he let his pissed up uninsured brother drive his car and they seriously injured someone in a head on collision.

    This is from the Athletic.

    https://theathletic.com/2700099/2021/07/13/allan-russell-the-striker-coach-who-left-his-job-with-england-just-before-euro-2020?source=user-shared-article

"“We have agreed with Allan that it is in the best interests of all for him to leave his consultancy position. We would like to thank him for his work.”

The 40-year-old had been fined £2,000 at Oxford Magistrates’ Court for allowing his Audi to be driven by his brother Simon, 39, who was over the legal drink-drive limit and uninsured.

Russell had been a passenger in the car when it was involved in a head-on crash with a Vauxhall Corsa, driven by Danny Moss, an off-duty ambulance driver.

Moss, 43, spent several months in hospital with serious injuries. Russell’s brother Simon was jailed for 32 months after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving and driving without insurance."

Could someone please explain to me why we only played with Pukki up front all season.

Even when we were relegated we were still only playing with one up front and using the same formation we'd used all year. Truly can't understand why Dean Smith didn't experiment with different formations once we knew we were relegated.

He did play two up front for a spell. Then Idah got injured followed by Sergeant and we had no options to play two up front.

Outside my area of expertise I'm afraid but I'm not sure they're able to stop what happens after they've sold. I have a memory that it came as a surprise to Manchester United.

They were floated publicly on the New York stock exchange so had no choice.

  15. As fans we did give up pretty early. We all knew we were going down and that early loss against Watford where we were so poor just confirmed that point of view.

Where I sit in the Barclay was generally pretty quiet all season. There were plenty of empty seats as it went on.

Think it's a fair comment and we were right to give up too.
