    Any of the hospital cup games. Pre-season anything-but-friendlies. Whoever dreamt of them? It''s up there on a par with the old Home Nations tournament as one of the things we''ll never see again. Had some cracking times running around behind the Barclay and also in that pokey park near the back of the North Stand.

    And the Drum and Monkey. Why did that pub dream of opening on derby day? Super atmosphere, always full of city and just crying out to be attacked by the scum. Who used to be only too happy to oblige. Cue pandemonium.

    I can also recall wandering into the toilets at their ground once for a pee at half-time and there being no windows in the back of the stand. Quite surreal looking out with an unguarded 20 foot drop but someone had obviously taken a dislike to the place!

    Some of the football has been good too.

    My only disagreements is with the inconsistencies of Croft and Clingan. If you don''t have a good word to say of the rest, you should be slagging them all:

    Croft - trained as a window dresser and comes to life when the end of season sale approaches.

    Clingan - was good, faded like a newspaper on a sunny window sill.

    I like both them guys (plus some of the others you slate) but they''re all equally culpable.

    That san siro thought cheered me up no end! What a day that was. No matter how glum we feel we at least had that moment - there''s city supporters before and since that will never have that feeling. It''s only now we realise how lucky we were.

    I''m not about to slate him or his keeping as it''s a tough job and you do notice mistakes more (there are far worse "players" in the team at present but they can get away with it) but the gesture irked me more for what it stood for.

    He did give the "WTF" arms out gesture at the end after some of the crowd had booed. His reaction was one of total "come on, we tried our best, what more do you want?" - which in part is fair enough. BUT that just masks the problem that I genuinely think the players believe that as long as they do their best that''s enough and I can picture them all driving home thinking "I did all alright today".

    He/they need to realise that anything less than a win is not good enough right now. I don''t think we have a chance until they get it - and I don''t think they''ll get it any time soon.

    early days we were accused of chanting nasty things in a letter to the EDP where it was said we were a "snake pit of vipers". suffice to say that had the desired effect and it stuck! the nasty thing i think was "ulf, ulf, ulf" in reference to the great ulf ottoson who graced carrow road at that time. however, to the unitiated that sounded a bit racist - hence the letter and the rest, as they say, is history.

    I had a good chat with shacks a couple of weeks ago and he confirmed then the wolves bid was genuine and it was turned down by GR at the time. But Shacks also felt pretty much out of the picture and would liked to have been given the chance to speak. Half an hour later it came out that we''d signed archibald-henville from spurs and shacks shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. Felt a bit sorry for him really. So I think this could be real and he could go.

    What the point of the turners? They''ve put £2m into the club. They work hard for their money and it''s up to them what they do with it. They didn''t have to put £2m in - but did. Why should they invest more? I''m fed up of people saying that other people should put their money into the club - do it yourself if you''re that obsessed with it. And if you don''t have that amount of money to invest - work harder or get smarter. We all had the same chance on day 1.

    I also went last night and two things struck me:

    1. GR had to be reminded who the guy was he had signed. This was done purely off recommendation so we are trusting the scouting network!

    2. My table had two of the players from last year on it, one a centre back and a centre forward. Both really nice guys but when GR stood up to take the mic niether had any idea whose spot was under threat. When I asked about rumours they both said they were usually the last to know and had no idea at all who might be coming, but they knew he was after a big man and expected it to happen. So for crofty and rusty to suggest them two names would seem a little too specific.

    The Q&A session with the manager later was very open. Wes always wanted to come here, Blackpool held the deal up basically hawking him round and accepting other offers but Wes stuck to his guns and insisted on the move to us. Clingan was a one-call deal, straight in no problems. Dejan and omosuzi were deals started by clarky but hodgson was not budging - until Delia stepped in (Hodgson apparently likes delia and the whole ethos of the club and it was her input that swung the deal). Hucks wanted to try the states at some point, GR fluffed round it a little but essentially used that as his excuse to let him go (old heroes and new heroes etc). GR also answered some more personal questions not relating to NCFC. Fozzy also took the mic which is amusing in itself just trying to understand it all.

    Players all left the room at just after 10 on the managers insistence. Early to bed boys, you''ve got a big game saturday! GR rounded off by saying he''s looking for us to be in contention throughout, within touching distance with 10 games to go. He spoke well and frankly.

    I was a little underwhelmed at going there at first. But the openess and frankness of the evening did show it to be a worthwhile experience.

    I can only assume the "retro loving guys" were there for the first time as that was me on the way there having seen us get thumped 3-0 at Layer Road a few months ago. I was full of it - great place, terrace, rust, asbestos - lovely.

    Second time round and I can confirm it''s a dive of the highest order. Once is a novelty. Twice and the joke ain''t quite so funny.

    I do think we were quite quiet. That said, we had little to cheer. Well we may have had lots to cheer but you could not see half of it regardless! I had no idea we had scored but just went with it and i was bang in line with the post less than 10 feet from the pitch as it must have gone in.

    The original poster may well have had a point. But that said, it''s an utterly worthless point to make. Don''t bite and treat the idiot with the contempt it deserves.

    Not that much. I was told by a board member that when interviewed Grant never mentioned money and just wanted the chance. As such, when he was offered the job the wages were low by comparison. Don''t hold me to it, but to pay him off in full should cost about £400k. That''s to pay it in full.

    However, you then have to pay off JD and associated hangers on and that''s when it all starts getting out of hand.

    Climb back in the pram now do. It was bad for sure and the fact the surroundings were a bit "sub standard" made it seem a bit worse. We are where we are and we''ve got what we''ve got. No matter how much whining we do it won''t change it.

    My message for the "hooze baiters" is simple - if you want to ditch every player who had a bad game today then you had best find 11 more right quick for our next fixture. That player has had good games this season - and bad ones too. But you name me one player in the current squad who you couldn''t lay that same accusation on? It was not so long ago that hucks was past it, then he''s sensational. A month ago martin was the best thing since sliced bread and since then the bread looks a little stale.

    It was a bad day. Get over it with minimal fuss please.

    Sorry but I''m with the original poster on this one. Doncaster is so far up his own backside that he feels that every time he does a day''s work he has to tell us how hard it is. That is not transparency, it''s tosh. The cotterill situation has taught them very few lessons it would seem as they have admitted again that they sat waiting on a promise that fell thru. We need to be driving these situations in our favour and move on if nothing is happening, not sit there and cross our fingers and then whinge and whine when it falls thru. He is pulling the wool over all our eyes quite frankly if he thinks a page in the EDP is any sort of explanation as to how badly we do in the transfer window. He''s done two days work this season and both days he''s failed to get what we wanted. In any other business he would be sacked tomorrow purely because he is so ineffective but we are too scared to do that to anyone (remember Worthy!!!).  The guy is a total joke.

    Sure we should cheer but if we clap them off after shipping 4 in a half and generally looking clueless what sort of message does that send out?

    We heap praise on them when it is due and start each game firmly behind the team. If we go a goal down we stay behind them, two behind after a comedy moment and we''re still there. Three and it''s wearing a bit thin, four - well do you seriously think the players and manager would have gone in at half time and said "oh, they''re getting on our backs a bit aren''t they? They''re soooooo fickle..."
