Loanees apart, I think this summer could finally see the departure of Aarons, also obviously Cantwell. I would say that those alone would fit into the whole self funding gubbins, meaning we don't need to sell others to raise funds. That's not to say others wont want out, but who knows, maybe Rachica/ Sargent would give it one more season, at least until Jan. Any other departures would be the players Smith doesn't rate. I would imagine any quality additions are more likely to be loans.

I'm honestly not sure Aarons has done enough to get a big move- especially with spending likely to be limited after Covid. On current form I think Rashica could be the one as he's clearly the kind of "difference maker" many lower Prem clubs crave. Idah is clearly Pukkis replacement and if he can improve his worrying injury record will be a beast (along with Sargent) in the Championship. Placheta is a decent replacement for Rashica if he goes but clearly needs to step up a notch. Still hold out vain hope that Normann may stay but again I think lower level Prem clubs will be looking to steal him. If so, as usual that's where the money needs to be spent as few of the loan players look ready to step up.

Won more trophies than us, have a bigger stadium than us and used to sell out most home matches when they were in the big leagues, and sure nowadays they dont tend to get many but that's down to protests against owernship and the club thats been going on years but seems to be picking up big time now. Anyway, hope Onel does good tonight that's what I'm hoping for.. And of course Birmingham are in a city with a population of over a million one of the largest cities in the UK. In no way are they a small club.

Brum only come close to selling out when they're doing very well. Our demand for tickets has been way higher than theirs for 13 years now- even when we were worse than they are now. Bigger population = more competition from other clubs and leisure activities.

I've always been a big believer in Idah, but that belief had started to wane in recent weeks and months. I'm not sure what the hell has happened to him in the last week though, because he has suddenly turned into prime Lukaku. He was fantastic today, and long may it continue!

I've always held in my mind "he's only 19-20" so needs to be cut some slack. However my patience was wearing thin. He just didn't seem to have the touch or game intelligence to use his pace and power. Huge kudos to him and the coaching staff for such a dramatic improvement.

We had 20k season ticket holders in Div3

We stayed one year - won the league - and went back up.

The Binners went bust in building a larger ground they couldn’t afford .

I hope you enjoyed the game yesterday - a point at home against a side that have been in Div3 even longer than your lot .

And we've been sold out and had a season ticket waiting list for about 13 years. We have no way of knowing what crowds those hundreds of sold out games could've attracted. Our leg of the play-off semi-final against the binners sold out in minutes and tickets were like gold dust, whilst their leg barely sold out with people buying tickets on the day.

The little old Norwich view is held by others who see us as a pleasant provincial day out. Norwich fans in my experience want the best and success, but we are not totally daft, we know we’re not going to challenge the big conurbations. Sure, we are successful at finishing  above bigger places than ourselves, e.g Stockport etc, and clearly we have had real success for a club of our size and city located where we are. The brutal truth about Gippeswyk is they did take it to another level, F.A and UEFA, and sadly we never quite got there, 3rd in 93 should of been First- but that will never happen again. Cook was sacked much to early.

The urban population of Norwich is approaching double that of Stockport, given that the "official" population of Norwich does not include most of the suburbs- Costessey, Hellesdon, Thorpe St Andrew, Drayton etc.  Also, Norfolk's population is approaching 1 million with little competition from easily accessible footy clubs of a similar standing whilst the likes of Stockport are hemmed in by more glamorous clubs.  Webber has made a similar point when comparing Norwich with Huddersfield.

Twatter going on about 3,000 travelling to Charlton like it’s unheard of. It’s 90mins down the road tops from Binnesville. We had 20,000 season ticket holders in Div 3

(Oh and went up at first attempt , at Charlton of course . In front of 4000 fans )

We always used to sell out that away end easily.  In fact I remember one Charlton fan telling me we often brought more than London clubs.

  7. It could be that the long rehab means they took everything ultra cautiously and made sure everything was perfect before making the next step. Best not get too excited but if he can come back fully fit and confident it would be one hell of a boost for the squad.

I would put them at similar levels. The difference is, Sargent is 21 and has the capacity to improve significantly. Hugill is 29 and has probably reached his peak.

Sargent is already better technically. He's very good with his feet and quite quick, but as others have pointed out he looks raw and easily loses confidence.  He will become a very good player however.

West Ham fill their (awful) ground due to low-cost pricing (£99 for an U16 ST), and in 2018/19 their income per seat was only around  £20.

Increasing the Carrow Road capacity by 7,000 would cost around £40-50m and would take well over a decade to begin paying for itself.

It might be nice to have a bigger CR but the cost (and disruption) do not justify the risk.

No. If you borrow to build something and the income from that is more than the cost of the loan then, obviously, you are making money. I think in the current climate our caution on this front is looking wise, however we clearly more seats if we can swing it in the next few years.

Even on our bad days we tend to take around 23 to 24 thousand, always been proud of how good our attendences have been

Other than cup games (in which we often have amongst the highest attendance in the country) I'm not sure we've had a crowd that low since the League one season? For league games it's generally a few restricted view/single seats if there are any spare.

  11. The squad is way stronger than the last two seasons but the doubt is whether the first 11 is stronger.  Even if we go down, barring some unforeseen meltdown or mutiny the club is in an incredible position and I fully expect us to bounce back even stronger.

If he's suggesting it's minor then hopefully something is lost in translation as dislocated kneecaps are serious things (remember Ronaldo for example).

Patellar instability (where the kneecap has a tendency to come out but snap back in on its own) can be quite the long term problem too.

Well he said he should be back after the international break which I presume means no ligament damage.  I agree about patellar instability though, it doesn't bode well although could be a one-off from the kind of impact maybe?

  13. To foul someone you actually have to get near them, whichwe have barely done the last two games. I'd point out that most of our team either had Covid, had to isolate, are just back from long-term injuries, are newbies or had sod all preseason. I'm also interested in Webber's comments about avoiding injuries. Have we significantly turned down training intensity this season? Whatever, we really haven't been at the races yet but losing to the top two sides is obviously no disaster and i expect significant improvement.  I also expect Sargent will be starting soon so we at least have a bit of physicality up top.

  14. Horsie, language evolves through complex social negotiation, not by fiat. There is simply no logical connection between the fact that society has deemed certain words impermissible and the fact that you want to demand that a chant is directly linked to racist tweets when it's pretty obvious that the vast majority of society wouldn't agree with that connection. You really do sound like a spoilt, arrogant teenager used to getting his own way.
