I don't think anyone could question the commitment of the players watching that. The absolute delight on their faces showed it.  Angus looked like he would have been among the travelling fans if he could. It's up to the individual supporter how they react on Saturday, but here's hoping that atmosphere in the away end can be carried back to Carrow Road.

Exactly. If people can't give them a bit of support after that effort, they never will.

Of course they can’t. Somebody has disagreed with their (narrow) world view and they lack the ability to debate the subject, so they resort to throwing out accusations of various prejudices in order to imply that persons opinion shouldn’t be taken seriously or responded to. When asked to provide evidence of this bigotry they’ll suddenly go quiet or change the subject

They enjoy it. As Andrew Doyle (ironically enough a gay man) has written, they are the new Puritans.

Nobody is forcing anyone. That's the problem, the repeated nonsense that this is about force.

It isn't about force. It's about professional responsibility to one's platform, that there are campaigns such as this one that are larger than individual opinion.

As someone raised earlier, there are still out gay footballers. There is still homophobia on the terraces.

Unless you're just lazy and aren't that bothered, I suppose showing support for that makes you one thing or another.

And like clockwork the toxic insinuations come out. I've spent a long time in Cambodia which tore itself apart because a politically certain, morally "pure" Left wing regime took power who brooked no dissent. My girlfriend wouldn't exist today had her teacher father not managed to escape the political purity police.

Read some Havel, Frankl or Solzhenitsyn if you want a glimpse of where this "if you don't performatively support us, we'll assume you must be against us " mentality leads. Read some philosophy and moral and evolutionary psychology as well.

Exactly this. Unbelievable that people here would confuse politics and human rights. I get 'freedom of speech ' but he isn't being asked to day anything. Players actions speak louder than words and their actions affect millions.

Forcing people, whether by law or social ostracism, to repeat performative political acts is one of the cornerstones of totalitarianism. Read Vaclav Havel's "the Greengrocer".

I'm surprised it's so high, honestly. Bar 1 side attendances are Vanarama level and season tickets can be bought in the WSL for around £50.

If all the twitter types that come out of the woodwork when there's a women's tournament on actually attended games games I'd suggest they'd be earning a lot more money.

Look up Rob Henderson's idea of "luxury beliefs".

  6. Adegboyega, Fisher and several of our under 21's (Kamara and Aboh from memory) were courted by bigger clubs but came here because they could see a faster route to high level first team football. Some will take the bait, that's just the way it is. Our under 21's are in the best shape for years and that's not an accident.

Kamara, Rowe, Springett & Warner have all been with NCFC for nine years or more.  Which I think reflects well on the club's long-term scouting & development.

It must be remembered that the pool of local talent in E Anglia is small [Beds, Cambs, Essex, Herts, Hunt, Nfk & Sfk combined have less than half the population of Greater London (6.8m v 14.8m)].

And the Norfolk pool is absolutely tiny. Of the 1263 footballers to have represented England just SEVEN were born in Nelson's County

But the other side of that coin is that our area has far fewer clubs- particularly higher level ones.

Was McNally? And he didn’t do too badly either.. I’d rather have someone in charge who is a bit of an a55 than not. Their job isn’t to make balloon animals and cheer up miserable punters. It’s to make a team work.

Norfolk people love a straight talker.....until they start saying things they don't like.

  9. A player who has only played Brazilian league and Champs won't go for £40m. £30+ maybe. Thing is, selling him won't just be about the money, it will be as much about proving to every prospective signing in that part of the world that we provide an excellent stepping stone to a top European club.

Why would it be to my annoyance? As for improved the team it’s easy to judge after 4 or 5 games, wait and see at the end of the season, rather than judge so quickly surely?

I genuinely find it funny. You guys grasp for any hint of negativity like a starving man grasping for a peanut. It's fine though, i think psychologists call it "negativity bias" in which certain personalities always assume the worst, the pay off being that if the worst happens they are both prepared for it, and can parade around pointing out how right they were. One of my best friends is like this, it's just funny when it's so damn obvious!

Got money for a few players like Aaron’s, Rashica, Mumba, Omo and paid out for ONE player only. The club obviously is in bad shape financially as it had parachute payments too but people still think that things are rosy off the pitch!

And improved the team whilst doing so, much to your and the OP's annoyance.

Indeed, Max is a seasoned veteran at doing exactly this in the box, and it was consistently waved away. He actually has quite the reputation with opposition fans.

I also haven't seen much mentioned of Adams handball in their box, which seemed very obvious to me (much like v Hull last week)

Yes, Sargent has done it a few times too and always looked embarrassed having to get to his feet and jog away knowing we're all thinking "nice try son!".

The second penalty was a penalty all day long. It’s soft and a players mistake.

The disallowed goal is the real issue. Goal scored in second phase of play. Officials clearly don’t understand the law. Especially given that the cut back from sarge was coming backwards…. Initial offside wasn’t interfering with play.

That was the shocker for me. Unsure why there’s such uproar for a soft penno we would have screamed the Barclay down for, but not for the clear and obvious disallowed goal.

Sure we'd have all appealed. But it would have been swiftly followed by chuckles and knowing looks to your mates as we all knew our player was trying to buy one. I'd say we're in double figures of "manufacturing contact" in the last few years and never got a decision go our way.

  14. Another aspect of this is that as Webber has stated, Sara moving to a top club would open up the South American market even more for us. People underestimate reputation. We've just signed Fisher and the Irish lad from under the noses of bigger clubs because of our reputation for bringing kids through. Fisher already being part of the first team picture enhances that even more.
