1.
a little bit sad if you don''t mind me saying that your attendance is a little low for where you are in league only 14,535 on monday nite
Proving what??  Theyre a London club and a very short distance from Chelsea and Fulham - both established Prem clubs.  And we know the majority of the ''Mocknees'' go glory hunting so would rather be seen with ''SuperBlues'' than the ''SuperHoops'' [;)]

Part of the reason why we get such big gates is no local competition.  Dont assume every season ticket holder is primarily a Norwich fan - they may enjoy going to games and have Norwich as their 2nd side - but primarily support Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona or whoever.  Thats not to knock them - theyll cheer every goal we score (unless its against their primary side) and probably join in the chants as well.

  2.
I would have thought it commonsense to assume that if a rule on third party ownership was implemented in the Premier League then this would be applied throughout the Football League. QPR are guilty of not checking whether this was a fact with the FA at the time of signing Faurlin, and also of trying to cover up the nature of his ownership.  This was at best negligent and at worst, fraud.

On top of this, QPR have compounded the issue by allegedly making fraudulent statements in Faurlin''s new contract.  If I were a QPR fan I would be very worried.
No - theyre separate leagues, separate rules.  The FL have subsequently introduced the same rule but you cannot be punished for something retrospectively unless you further break that rule later on

  3.
Last season Blackpool secured a play of spot with 70 points and got promoted on it.

    More stats for you.............

    Average needed for play-offs  = 72 points

    Highest 7th place finish (i.e not making play-offs) = 75 points

Lowest Automatic promotion total = 79 points

Lowest Champions total = 81 points

Average needed for promotion = 82 points

    Highest 3rd place total = 87 points

Average needed for champions = 88 points
Presume you went back 10 years Dogger - if you go back to 97/98 the team finishing 3rd actually got 90!  Going back 15 years also increases the average required to finish 1 point above 3rd to 83 - not 82

In the last 15 years also worth mentioning the most playoff winners came from the team finishing 3rd (5 occasions) and 5th (5 Occasions).  6th has won the playoffs 4 times, with 4th place only once

  4.
I''ve done a quick check. Rodgers is talking rubbish.

80 points would only have got you promoted automatically once in the last ten years.

85 seems more realistic and some seasons even 90 would not have been enough.
The true story is actually between the two.  Youre looking at points for the 2nd place team - whereas you actually need to look at the points gained by the team in 3rd:

    2009-10   79

    2008-09   80

    2007-08   75 P

    2006-07   84 P

    2005-06   81 P

and add one to the total

Beyond that it was generally a higher points table with the 3rd place team actually getting NINETY points in 97/98

    Forest         94

    M''boro       91

    Sunderland 90

    Charlton     88 P

    Ips***        83

    Sheff U       74

That season was also the ONLY time in the last 15 years that the 4th place side went up via the playoffs

  5.
Not the most blessed finisher, but fast enough to compete in the 100 metre sprint.

I would have thought he was worth a trial somewhere? I''d have him in a shot.

He was actually offered a new contract at Boro but turned it down and left the club. He then nearly signed for West Ham in the summer but got injured in the trial.

He is currently back at Arsenal, getting fit so that he can find a club in the summer.

    Worth a shout?
We''ve got someone in that ilk already.   His name is Simeon Jackson.....

  6.

A random youtube clip (which I can''t run because flash is buggered on my pc) has thie text underneath : "Such was his ability to score goals from almost any position, teammates nicknamed him El Asesino ("The Assassin")." Nice !
He''s only got finishing of 9 on footy manager !
    Grrrr
Its a computer game!!!!  Not real life!!!!

I''ll be happy if he scores one goal if its the one that wins us 2nd place or the playoff final

2 good signings...if they are with a view to permanent deals. If not then I don''t really see the worth in it.

Pacheco is a fabulous little footballer and would love him to be part of our squad going forward, and that doesn''t just come from viewing a couple of youtube videos...remember Goran Maric. Played in the right position he could be great for us.

Vokes was a really highly rated player a few years back, I must say I don''t know alot about him but he must be better than Wilbraham, surely.

Good luck to both players and I for one hope that you both shine in the yellow of NCFC.
It will be worth it if they score the goals to take us up.
Indeed, and they are better than CMS.  We''ve saved some money there !!
Pacheo is indeed a better option than CMS given the patient, passing game we play. No chance of getting him on a permanent of course, he''s far too promising.
CMS is a class act and he has proven himself this season what ever league, Im really pleased these two will give us a real boost.....IN LAMBERT WE TRUST!
I don''t agree.  He has proven himself in Div1 no doubt but that is very different to the Championship where he managed only 10 in 43 games last season. That is poor.
1 in 4 for a team for a team who finish bottom in his first season isn''t bad. While Vokes got 6 in 37 for Wolves who were Champions. Since then he has managed 2 in 27 and 8 of them games were in League 1. If CMS record was poor what is Vokes?
Vokes is 21 whereas CMS is 27 so it''s not comparing like for like. Also, Vokes has played in the Prem has he not ?
He has, a whole 5 sub appearances! I don''t see how age is a factor for these next 8 games. CMS knows where the net is and is in the best form of his life and Vokes so far hasn''t proved he''s a goal scorer.
CMS didn''t know where the net was on Monday, and in fact I don''t remember him getting a shot in, and that''s Div1. He''s just as much a gamble at this level as these other guys but far more expensive. Vokes is also a full Welsh International. Age is a factor because CMS was 26 when playing in the Championship, but with all his experience managed only 10 goals. Vokes is also 6 foot 2 as opposed to CMS who is not the tallest, and that extra height will be very useful. I''m happy to have Vokes.
He actually had a shot well saved. So your basing your opinion on one game, where his team didn''t play very well. If you had watched one of his games where he scored one of his 27 goals this season, I suppose that would make him the best player in the world. Hardly difficult to be a Welsh International, and he still struggled to get called up, shame CMS isn''t Welsh because he would get handfuls of caps. What experience? It was his first season playing in it, so he was less experienced then Vokes but scored more! Vokes has done nothing to prove he''s better then CMS and I bet Vokes doesn''t score more then 3 goals in his time here!
Why dont you rename yourself as ITFCfan?  Or maybe youre a rebadged Wrathsajoke?

CMS isnt coming to Norwich - at least this season.  Live with it.  Back Lamberts judgement - or back out of here

  8. Cluck and co - can you get yourselves a private room and then beat each other to bits in there?

Back to the original questions - there is no (current) cap on Supermembers - as there is no cap on members.  If there are more S/Ms than available tickets then obviously there is reduced likelihood of getting tickets but youre more likely than ordinary members

In slight defence of Cluck, it does seem a bit tight having a split member scheme, especially when the price difference is so low.  But then its the way the club want to play it and Im happy to pay for my s/m especially as I cant commit to a season ticket currently

Tickets are limited to one per Supermember certainly during the S/M only period.  Beyond that I guess there may be some lifting of restrictions and some games dont sell out

Coventry, however is likely to be sold out completely - being last game (possibly) and we may still be fighting for a top-2 place

  9.
Had a bit of free time and thought it would be interesting to cover our late goals and points

Scunthorpe A - injury time winner by Holt = 2 points

    Swansea H - 2 goals 87 and 90 to win 2-0 = 2 points

    Barnsley H - winner scored on 80 mins = 2 points

    Burnley H - injury time equalizer = 1 point

    Coventry A - winner on 87 mins = 2 points

    Sheff U H - goals on 84 mins and stoppage time to win 4-2 = 2 points

    Cardiff H - last minute equalizer = 1 point

    Sheff U A - winner on 80 muns = 2 points

Milwall H - winner in stoppage time = 2 points

Reading H - winner in stoppage time = 2 points

    Bristol C - 89 and stoppage time to win 3-1 = 2 points

Probably been done already but satisfying to see them listed.  So I make it 20 points from late goals ( no I haven''t bothered to list the late goals conceded and points we''ve lost).

Interestingly as far as I can see, we haven''t scored any goals in the last ten minutes where we were already winning at the 80th minute.
As you say, its interesting to see it all laid out - however I thought it might be good to see where we''ve conceded late goals as well - or where we''ve scored and its not made a difference to our points tally:

    Watford (H) - scored (Nelson 90+1) and conceded (Graham 81) - net loss 0

    Blackburn (A, CC) - scored 1 (Askou 90) and conceded 2 (80,84)

    Doncaster (A) - Conceded (Coppinger 84) - net loss 0

    Hull (H) - Conceded 2 (Koren 83, Cairney 88) - net loss 1

    Millwall (A) - Conceded (Marquis 90+4) - net loss 2

    Portsmouth (H) - Conceded (Halford, Pen 90+6) - net loss 0

    Burnley (A) - Conceded (Rodriguez 81) - net loss 1

    Doncaster (H) - Conceded (og 83) - net loss 2

    Leicester (A) - Conceded (Gallagher 90+4) - net loss 0

So we''ve lost 6 points in the last 10 minutes opposed to 20 gained. Overall 28 goals in the last 10 minutes of Norwich games

Incidentally we have scored late when we''ve been winning - Martin got his 2nd goal v Gillingham in the Carling Cup (90+2) to seal a 4-1 win (albeit no league points at stake)

  10.
I for one am on Snakepit Lass''s side as she has only just left home and is probably in her 20''s and there is the off chance that she may be totty. I am not usually so shallow
Great thought.  Though not necessarily the case - she could be in her 50s.  However we are here to discuss Norwich City FC''s attributes, not Snakepit Lass''

Going back to the original point - dont forget 2m is not just for transfer fees.  The majority gets swallowed in wages, agents costs, scouting trips, and other associated activities.  So whilst 2m sounds a lot its got to go a long way.

Do we need another striker?  No - and to be honest Lamberts forward signings arent great anyway.  Even the Holy Trinity of last season were a Gunn Signing (Holt) a Roeder signing (Hoolahan) and a Youth player (C Martin).  Oli Johnson, Simeon Jackson and Anthony MacNamee havent exactly set the Championship on fire to date.  Where we have got quality is in midfield where we do score a lot.  As for the goals against - yes we could tighten up and thats ultimately where the difference will be between top 2 and top 6.  Goalscoring isnt a problem for us - scoring 2 a game potentially is.  Looking at some of the most successful sides, fans didnt chant 1-0 to the Arsenal for no reason......

  11.
Frankly, I really couldn''t care less about this, lets face it, no one died and no one got pregnant.

Yeah it was wrong, and the lad will get his just desserts from the police and probably never see a City game again ever, but do I really care if a lino was hit in the face with a lighter, not really.

As somebody else said, if it hit Harte we would all be laughing our socks off about this.

I think that there are certain people that are horribly offended because they think thats whats expected.
Sorry Morty youre wrong.  Yes Harte is a cheating B@rstard but there is no room for incidents of this kind in football.  If it had been a Millwall or Leeds fan everyone would be up in arms

I hope whoever did it gets a life ban - not 3 years - and I''d love to see them get a custodial sentence as well

  12.
we have never lost a league game on my Birthday....because it''s in July.
What about Pre-season friendlies?

I''ve only been to the football on my birthday once, when I was in my late teens/early 20s.  We lost at home to the Binners.  Havent bothered going to CR on my birthday since.....

  13.
Not struggling ?
Fortunate to beat Sheff Utd , couldnt  beat Palace ,very lucky to beat Millwall and lost at Burnley ,of the teams in the top 6 at the moment i would say we look the most likely to drop away . Forest,Cardiff and Qpr look nailed on , my opinion is Leicester will finish top 6 and most likely be joined by one of Watford,Burnley or Hull so thats two dropping out from Leeds,Swansea and us .When was the last time we won a match with ease ? Ipswich probably and that was against 10 for much of the match , yes we are doing well for a newly promoted side but for a side that was sitting 2nd we are going through a ropey patch and every match now seems a struggle.
Are you related to Wraths a Joke?

A week or 2 ago Cardiff were ''struggling'' themselves.  QPR went 6 games without a win and Forest had a slow start.  Of the other sides you mention, Burnley and Hull were in the Prem last year and would ''expect'' to finish top 6, Watford (having been on a Forest-like run) are now sliding themselves.

Yes we''ve still got a lot of work to do to make the top 6 - theres still a third of the season left - but TBH most would have settled for mid-table at the start of the season - so anything above that is a bonus.

If we continue to win 50% of our games during a ropey patch (we have 7 points from the last 4 games) we should be OK once we get going again.  Either keep the faith or take your pointless little posts to somewhere like Wrath.......or should I say TWTD?

  14. Of interest is the ITV Stats site.  According to them

    1) If the whole division replicated their entire season form over the remaining games, the final table would be:

Current PosTeamCurrent PointsMatches to PlayMaximum Possible PointsHighest Possible FinishLowest Possible FinishProj Season FormProj Recent Form
    1 Queens Park Rangers561710712488.386.6
    4 Nottingham Forest491910612483.2100.3
    2 Norwich City511710212479.988.4
    3 Swansea City501710112478.977.2
    5 Cardiff City481810212478.671.4
    7  Watford431910012471.586.7
    6 Leeds United46179712471.568.1

QPR and Forest would go up (not a total surprise) and we would face Watford in the playoffs - and one of the two Welsh sides after that

However, taking the form of the last 8 games, replicated over the rest of the season, the final table would be

Current PosTeamCurrent PointsMatches to PlayMaximum Possible PointsHighest Possible FinishLowest Possible FinishProj Season FormProj Recent Form
    4Nottingham Forest491910612483.2100.3
    2Norwich City511710212479.988.4

    8Reading4218961246974.4

Forest win the title, we follow them up with QPR dumped into the playoffs - with Cardiff and Leeds missing out altogether [:D]

  15.
The Googler - You should remember that the Barnett deal was agreed before the windown commenced so to have got Tierney and Wilbraham doesn''t inspire me. The two additions are something similar to what we have already but I don''t feel Wilbraham will get us many goals. As for saying he''ll be here next season just have a look at how much Torres and Carrolls contract meant - absolutely nothing!! What is it you know about football that both the chief exec''s of Liverpool and Chelsea don''t. They seemed very happy to do business on Jan 31- please tell?? ;)
To be fair to Googler, how many of Lamberts signings inspired anyone, at least at first?  Russel Martin?  John Ruddy?  Not long ago both these players were being slagged off, but look how many points theyve won us since.  You may be right on Wilbraham but Jackson was an ''inspirational'' signing and to be honest he''s not set the Championship alight either.  Whether its our style of play or just the player struggling to adapt Im not sure but he''s had a slow start

While we''re on the subject of slow starts Iwan Roberts only scored a few goals in his first season or 2.  So I''ll hold judgement on both Jackson and Wilbraham for now

As for questioning whether Barnett will be here next year, yes youre correct but remember Torres had been at Liverpool for quite a while and Carroll likewise at Newcastle.  Yes you can always question whether players will stay but thats true regardless - do you think Cardiff or Forest will hang on to some of their players IF they dont go up?  If we''d have signed Barnett and failed to go up would he have handed in a transfer request?

As for Chelsea and Liverpool, theyre in a completely different world both in terms of the finances but also whats on offer.  Liverpool have the later stages of the Europa League and still have a chance of top 4 if they can put a decent finish in to the most open prem I can remember for a while - and Chelsea can offer Champions League.  We have the chance of possible promotion to the Prem - good for some, but to be honest the outside world expect us to fall away any minute (look at the exposure Leeds and Cardiff get compared to us) - whilst I generally dont mind that (we''ll sneak under the radar) it does alter player perception - Im sure Brighton''s approach were "why go to Norwich and play in the Championship when you can play Championship football here".

  16.
We need to score goals at a higher rate or concede at a lower rate in order to better pursue automatic promotion

I reckon that Lambert thinks that  the more goals option is the best bet with the current squad.

And further that the main issue is not the chance conversion rate, but moreso the need to improve the supply line of chances to the strikers.

Hence the pursuit of Elliott Bennett as the priority with the acquisition of another striker of secondary importance.

Of course this runs somewhat counter to the Steve Bruce formula for promotion out of the Championship which in essence says that you can''t have too many strikers!

Disappointing that the club couldn''t secure Bennett yesterday, but there''s more than one way to skin a cat.

We certainly live in interesting times. Again.

    OTBC
Great post, Bly.

I certainly think that the sticking point yesterday with Bennett was price - as Lambert said, he didnt want to spend (couldnt spend?) stupid money, and unfortunately thats what the window does - inflate fees to stupid levels

I think PL is likely to give the current squad a few more games to get themselves out of the current blank - although he will then (Im sure) get someone in on loan to ''lend a hand''.  Expect to see some different line-ups in the meantime

    As you say, interesting times

  17. Thanks WITS - I knew I could count on you!!

TBH people take the whole window thing WAY too seriously.  We can sign more players next week on loan and putting it bluntly the only thing deadline day does for the majority of fans is to watch massive inflation of the price of overrated players.  Andy Carroll would never fetch £35m at any other time of year.

  18. The club have just announced that they have made the following new signings

Selwyn "WrathsaJoke" as new head of Public Relations.  With his witty insights into the club strategy, inevitably leading to more political infighting than the Milliband v Milliband leadership battle, the club will at least be on the back page every week

First Wizard as chief scout.  Travelling the length and breadth of Lowestoft in search of new talent - ideally under 25 with blonde hair and short skirts.  FW will also become Selwyn''s assistant, creating all sorts of wild and wacky rumours for those times when the infighting stories have run out

Smudger as Director of football.  Inevitably the only person that truly knows what they are doing, Smudger will also appear as the clubs regular guest pundit on Sky

Cluck as head of maintenance for all the clocks in the ground.  He does after all keep trying to turn them back

Unfortunately there are no new players to report but the club is sure that these new signings will encourage the final push to get out of this league.  Its just not clear in which direction......

  19.
Right now, Martin, Martin, Martin, Martin. Those of you that say he is lazy dont watch the same game as me. I happen to remember lots of strikers full of running that have been aweful for us. I also seem to remember Worthington left us with a team full of winning runners (lord knows I would be happy to do nothing but run around a pitch for £2k a week!). What Martin has is class. He quite clearly needs a goal, not class. He needs a little bit of luck, get that ball in the back of the net and he can lift his head and kick on. Having said that he contributes hugely to our team. He is on the same level as Hoolahan and Lansbury as well as Holt and that helps a lot. As for confidence players, can we afford to give Jackson a run of two or three games to get his confidence back when we are in an automatic promotion spot. For me, all to often Jackson goes missing altogether. I don''t think some of the calls are that unfair when people say shouldn''t Cody be given the same oppertunity. How many did he score in the few appearances he made on our way down? Don''t get me wrong, I think Jackson could turn good for us but he just needs to be that bit more intelligent with the ball and with his runs.
Spot on.  However the point no-one mentions is that Jackson gives you an option later in the game.  Play him from the start when defenders are fresh and chances are they''ll pocket him.  What Jackson offers is a quick pair of fresh legs off the bench when defenders are knackered - when youve been bullied and pummelled by Holt and Martin for an hour, the last thing you want is someone running at you full pelt.  Same thing with MacNamee

I would rate Martin over Jackson but without a doubt Jackson was the point saver v Reading - it gave us an out-ball, something for defenders to think about and not just push forward as they had for 20 minutes at the start of the 2nd half.  I think if Lambert had bought Jackson on when Readings 2nd goal went in, we would have won the game, not just ended up with a point.

  20. Im Paul, 42 years old and Ive followed City since I was 6 - my first game was v Bolton Wanderers as an 8 year old - it finished 0-0.

Former Barclay season ticket holder until divorce from my 1st wife and having 3 kids meant that my wages needed to go on other priorities.  I do make 7 or 8 games a year (same financial constraints at the moment!  Try keeping a 3 year old supplied with Peppa Pig comics, its quite expensive!), with a mixture of home and away games in each season

Fav player of all time - probably Flecky, with Grant Holt being the pick of the current bunch (same never say die attitude).  Best game Ive attended as a city fan was the Bayern Munich home game with the worst moment being the 5-0 drubbing in Binnersville (never been back since)

Ive managed to convert my wife to football now and we''re both working on my 3 year old son.

  21.
I think you have to distinguish between genuine mistakes, which all referees (and people) make from time to time, and poor judgement.  Oliver (6 reds in 12, 2 overturned in 2 weeks) has shown consistently poor judgement.  I don''t think people do it deliberately, it''s just some people (in all walks of life) don''t have the ability to make correct decisions.

You could argue the FA showed poor judgement in fast-tracking a 25 year old with no previous professional experience.

As with players, there should be some kind of disciplinary panel and three crap games in a row means you''re sent back to training for a week or two.
Tricky one - would an older ref have come to a different decision?  We''ll never know

As a ref you can only give what you see at the time, and you dont have the benefit of god knows how many replays.  Nor do you have the elevated view you get from most stands - you are on the same level, hopefully only a few yards away, hopefully with the best angle and no other players in the way.  Its been stated elsewhere that from one angle it looks like Holt went in studs-up...and you dont have to make contact for it to be violent conduct, the intent only has to be there

Having said that I think the incident over the drop ball was where the ref lost it - I could see Reading wanted to contest it although my mate was adamant they couldnt/wouldnt.  Holt gave the ref some backchat - hence the ref speaking to him - and Im sure that was in Olivers mind a few minutes later

Plus the ref wasnt helped by Harte - in the end it was pure cheating BUT if Holt HAD injured Harte and the ref had ignored it that would have been even worse (from a football perspective).

MO has had a couple of contreversial games now - and 2 cards recinded.  I wonder what the assessor thought of it all, not to mention his dad - who is also a ref....I wouldnt mind  betting MO will disappear for a few weeks at least til things calm down again.  He may turn into a good ref one day - but I do think hes got a way to go
