1.
Well, thanks for that Rock the Boat.  A condescending history lesson, followed by an opinion on the motives of the majority shareholders, an "It''s not good enough" which forgets that football stadiums look so much nicer with 4 stands than 3 (although I''ll grant you the debt should only be twice as much, not three times), followed by a lack of realisation that you''ve already been given what you demand - D & M don''t appear to be involved in key decision making post-Gunn.

Look back at the Capital Canaries meeting commentary on this forum, and then the events that followed.  D & M were still backing Gunn up to a day or two before the "unanimous decision" to fire him.  If that doesn''t tell you where the land lies now, then no amount of words from me can.

For the time, effort, and money of these "generous incompetents" (they may have failed but at least they have been trying) you want heads on poles, but you can''t afford the poles, the poles in this case being the price of their shares plus a guarantee on the loans.  Is that my fault ?  The tone of your post appears to suggest it might be... [:)]

As for Premiership football, who knows ?  I think most of our fans would be happy being at the top end of the Championship, Lambert should be capable of that if backed properly.  Premiership requires different money though - One day our Arabic Prince may come ?  They did for Notts County...

I look forward to your explanation of how you will bring Delia Smith to the understanding of the worthlessness of her shares.  It should be a good read.
Well you sparked a nice little debate there about  Smith and Jone''s plans, Blah. Do they intend to sell up or not? Plain truth is that nobody knows except the Stowmarket Two and even if you follow their public statements, Delia is so contradictory that it''s impossible to read anythng into what she says. She''s either gaga or she simply has no idea herself what she intends to do.

So that''s more evidence of lack of ability to properly run our football club. At the very least you would expect some plan to be in place to get us out of ths mess. And with a new-look board you''d expect they''d had enough time already to communicate their plans nstead of making contradictory statements.

Your question, Blah, was how to bring Delia to the understanding that her shares are worthless? Well I would have thought that if she has gone about the business of bringing new investment or looking for worthy new owners, then the question of her shareholding and it''s value must have come up time and time again. If doesn''t get it by now then she never will.

Ever thought that if the "new owner" did not make so many mistakes then perhaps the amount needed extra year on year might not be so much?
Just about every club from the top 6 down relies upon extra money to be pumped in, regularly.  If fewer mistakes were made I have no doubt that more money would be available to the team.  We are where we are Butler.
Just remind me again where we are Blah. Two relegations and debt ballooned from 6m to over 19m. All during Delia''s reign. Land purchased at the peak of a property speculation bubble which we''re now shelling out huge interest payments and unlikely to see any return for years to come. All during Delia''s reign.

A long and sorry list of failed managers, an even longer list of departed backroom staff. A dumbing-down in the quality of the playing staff. All during Delia''s reign.

A drunken, rant from the touchline broadcast live to the nation making us the laughing-stock of the country. A hug to the manager after delivering us the worst home defeat in our history in the lowest league division for over fifty years. All during Delia''s reign.

There''s a constant here, Blah, if you''ve noticed it yet. Yes, we are where we are. And how did we get here, my friend?

We could go and blame it all on the players, but there''s very few of them left from our promotion-winning side. We could go and blame it on the managers and the backroom staff. But look at how many we''ve got through in the past few seasons and still the failure. Even the board has gone through degrees of turmoil since the mid-nineties. There are some who think it''s the fans'' fault for not getting behind the team, for goodness sake. Clutching at straws or what?

We are where we are because we have been managed by a pair of incompetents who are well past their sell-by-date. They are clinging on, I suspect, because they want to get back most of what they''ve put in. Which kind of puts lie to the theory that they''d give the club away if the right person came along. Well the right person did come along and they sent him away with a flea in his ear. And now we find ourselves where we are.

We are where we are? Well there are a lot of us who think that just isn''t good enough. That a team supported by twenty-five thousand paying punters should not be boxing below it''s weight. But when we''ve piled up the debt over the the past thirteen years, to over three times what is what when the Two took over control of our club, then it should come as no surprise that we can''t afford to make decent quality signings.

Of course, some might not realise how we come to be where we are, but that is because they just don''t want to see.

I think McNally was a great capture for the club and he probably has got what it takes to move us forward. But I still want Delia and her husband out because they will hold us back. No one is interested in investing. Absolutely not true. Perhaps the most trusted poster on this forum has already come forward to say that Delia has turned down approaches. Of course, she has. She wants her money back, or at least as much as she can get. And yet the work and his wife knows how valueless the shares are - go ask Nutty how much he could sell his shareholding for. Sorry but Delia''s shareholding has as much value as Nutty''s. Call a sentimental value if you wish. But there''s certainly no commercial value.

And until Delia realises that her shareholding is worthless then we''ll be where we are, scuffing around the lwer divisions for years to come. Think you''ll see Premiership football at City again in your lifetime if Delia remains in charge, Blah?

Something has definatley happened between Tuesday night night and today to prompt this. It is not a knee jerk reaction in my opinion, something is afoot.

    I suppose time will tell
You''re right Tim-nice-but-dim. It''s either a knee-jerk reaction or something is afoot. But thumbs up to Mcnally for using his head. Now all he has to do is keep his shoulder to the wheel and nose to the grindstone, else Smudger will be calling him a pr#ck.

  4.

Where did I say the fans had no right to be angry? I''m just pointing out - in a slightly tongue-in-cheek fashion - that the NCISA meeting probably forced the issue and we''re paying the price now - would McNally have sanctioned Gunn''s appointment when he arrived a few weeks later? I doubt it.
Well we are all waiting now to see what clown McNally does sanction as our next Manager.

Can''t say that I am overly excited as to who Gunny''s replacement might be, can you?

When McNally finally shows that he is just another pawn in Delia''s little game later this year, are you going to blame the new manager, McNally or the fools that employed both of them??? [:^)]

First and foremost, we as a group of fans need to decide what is an acceptable performance for this coming season.  For example, some say that just getting in to the play-offs without promotion would be acceptable, I would say that it is not and anything less than promotion at the first attempt without significant fresh investment being found will mean yet another year of our club moving in the wrong direction.

You may be hacked off with McNally for some reason, Smudger, but he is way ahead of you in the performance targets game. And I would suggest that McNally is putting events in the boardroom very much on the front foot - or to borrow your metaphor, McNally seems to be in the driving seat.

Doesn''t sound like one of Delia''s pawns (or prawns) to me.
Possibly. Or Gunn may of thought it''d take him awhile to settle in?...
This "let him settle in" stuff is crap. A midfielder, striker maybe defender needs to settle in when moving from a forign country, due to different speeds of the game, but what difference to the game does it make for a goalkeeper? Still have to save the bloody ball!!! My opinion is hes crap, they made a panic buy, saw him in training and thought he looked a bit ropey so got in Alnwick. Keepers do not need time to adjust when moving country, there job is the same. Theo is crap and I hope his contract is cancelled.
If they saw he was crap in training then why did they play him in the first game when they''d just signed Alnwick, smarty pants?

I can assure the chase riots were not pretty. Even though i dont want to see anything like that again, it really is going down a similar route towards what could be a very nasty and violent protest.

I just cant believe what is happening to this great football club, it really is very upsetting.

Fvck the restaurants and dinner evening''s, I want my football club back.

    OTBC
They were hardly riots... on the whole peaceful demonstrations against something which had been going wrong for a pretty long time (not as bad as what we have had to put up with under Delia though) against the backdrop of overhand policing given that the then ring road needed clearing.

Well the police will not have that excuse this time will they???
Yes they will.  And head cams, and ASBO''s and banning orders.

    Anyway bring it on Smudge.

    Can''t wait this end.[:P]
"Cam" "Smudger" dont even go to matches, he said that himself !!!!!!!!!

So a ASBO will not do no good for him, unless he goes to England matches (which i doubt very much )
Are you suggesting these are empty threats on a message board?

And, if they aren''t, be warned that this and other Norwich City message boards are monitored by Her Majesty''s Norfolk Constabulary and so probably the plans of Smudge and co had best be posted privately.  A word to the wise and all that.[;)]
Translation for non-journalists "Get this protest under way and Cam will sh*t-stir as much as possible with the local plod to get a good story. Remember, the nastier it gets the higher Cam can auction his story to the nationals"

All those hours of digging around are beginning to pay off, eh Cam ;)

  7.

Given our level of resources we should be in the top 6 by Oct / Nov.
Yep, let''s do the final league tables in order of wealth then there''ll be no need to play all those pesky matches! [:S]
If you calculated the co-efficient of correlation between club''s wealth and their league positions, I think you''d find a pretty significant correlation.

Now there''s a big word for you, doggy. Correlation. Go look it up and come back when you''ve educated yourself

  8.

I don''t have a question for the board as such LQ because it won''t matter a jot what they answer. At the end of the day if we win football matches the ordinary fan will soon lose interest in the boardroom but if we have another disappointing season there will be calls for the boards heads. We''re a football club and that''s the way of it. No answers that the board could give would change that fact.

I do have a question for you though : I believe the forming of the SCG and other fans initiatives came through people who are no longer at the club. Do you believe these things will carry on under the new board?
Exactly, spot on Nutty... [Y]

As The Butler and Myself have suggested many times, those running our club need to be set some kind of targets throughout the season to match.

If come the end of September/start of October things are going as most fans are now expecting them to go and we are sat up there in the top 6 then I am sure the team will continue to receive most fans backing and what is going on within the boardroom will take much more of a back seat.  Anything short or that however and questions will obviously start be raised.

I get the feeling that some fans would even take a 7th or 8th place finish?

I think that anything short of a swift return to the Championship and the offer of a suitable budget given to Mr Gunn to keep us there is failing the club and the city once more.

To be fair, I think that we may have a squad capable of competing at this level.  I am still not sure though if we may find ourselves lacking in that extra bit of quality required to make the difference between success and failure.  I will not be happy if come the end of the season they are claiming poverty yet again for not having one or two real quality individuals who could of made the difference, as yet more cutbacks are made to balance the books.

I think that there should be further meetings throughout the season to assess whether we are on track to achieve the above goals or not.
But that''s the team''s performance, Smudger. So if the team does well, then you think the board is off the hook? I''m surprised that you of all people would think that? What''s still really important is the underlying investment and overall control of the club.

I won''t be happy until those are sorted, regardless of where we are in the league this year, because it''s the long term problems that will hold us back in the long-term.

  9.
thought as much.
A number of individuals will certainly be singing about ''dead prostitutes'' the next time we face Ipswich Town. Just as a number of individuals find it necessary to come on this message board and call Ipswich supporters ''bastards'' on a thread where City fans are being thanked for showing respect to one of football''s greatest characters.

At least we can thank the internet for showing just who these individuals are rather than the anonymous cretins hiding in a large crowd that you usually are.

    Shame on you.
