  1. The most exciting football I''ve seen City play in all my years of going was when Walker was in charge for the first season, in that year we mixed it up with passing and long passing (not long hoofs) then teams cant predict how your going to play but until the current players are prepared to work hard off the ball for perhaps no reward to create two or three options for the guy on the ball we will always struggle with either game and be predictable. Anyway the only thing I desperately dont want to see is passing or hoof ball and relegation, I think promotion is probably a long way off either style we employ. So Midtable and mixing the passing (not hoof) up please GR.

  2. People always like a player who has a little flair even if he''s inconsistent or doesnt have a true impact. He''s quick and he does try to go past people. But I understand the frustration and I''m sure GR is just as if not more frustrated than us which is why he doesnt get in the team to often as a starter.

  3. Why is it you cant complain about our current situation without someone saying your arnt a genuine supporter, surely if you care enough to feel upset at the current situation means that you have the club and it''s success close to your heart. 6 points from 18, no assets of any value in the team should we need it, no cover a centre back if Kennedy''s injury turns out to be bad. Team of loans that are not going to get us promotion, no cash for permanent signings. Although granted we are playing better football and GR has done his best with little resources.

Sure we should all get behind the team when we play, but dosent mean we should all go home smiling like idiots when we lose.

Oh and thanks to Delia according to Neil Doncaster we wont have to sell anyone in Jan, who is this mythical multi-million £ player that lot''s of other teams want?

  4. I''m not to keen on all the loans either, but if there really is no cash then we dont have much alternative, what worries me most is the loan players have formed some good partnerships on the field which will be broken up and we will have to roll the dice again in Jan. As for people who say that the loanees have all been saying they wouldnt mind staying, what else are they going to say? it would be nuts for any player to say I just want to get my fitness and there is no way I''m signing for this bunch because I''m better than this team. they always say ''who knows and we''ll see what happens when the loan runs out.'' I remmember Scott Parker saying the same, then saw him play and thought there is no way he will sign for us, Hucks was the exception rather than the rule.

Anyway lets hope for some cash to sign a few of them permanently, then we can build for a bit more long term.

  5. It was def 30 points but they have got it down to 20 with their results. I''m sure they stay up as they are now only 6 points behind the next team Bournemouth who also started -17 and rotherham also started on - points. I know why the FA docks points for going into admin, but it does seem to just hurt the fans and it''s hardly their fault, while the directors and backers walk off into the sunset. Lets change the laws and have a public flogging at half time of directors who pull shady transfer deals as I think was lutons case.

Anyway I dont think they will be able to afford to sign Spillane or Martin permanently, if we want a fee for either.

  6. Good result on saturday, lets not forget we havent got a great team at all considering 5 of the 11 werent even ours. Someone else has some good players who they have leant us more like. Still lets get behind the team until January, hopefully city full a rabbit out of the hat and can somehow make some of these players permanent.

  7. One thing that bothered me about Semy losing his place, is the motivation for players outside the first 11 to get in the team, if they see a guy losing his place after playing well it may come across that it doesnt matter how well they play they will still be out of the team for the next game for a player the manager prefers. In an ideal world someone who plays well would stay in the team, still not an ideal world i guess.

  8. I remmember a guy we signed called Andrew Brownrigg, I think it was John Deehan who signed him and he came from Hereford, he''d played a handful of games for them and we paid £100,000. My mate who worked at a hotel at the time met him and his girlfriend just before he signed, his girlfriend said she couldnt believe he was signing for a prem team as she had always though he was a crap footballer. Needless to say i dont think he made a single apperance. Perhaps we should have hired the girlfriend as a scout.

Other stinkers for me Victor Segura, Raymond De Waard and Darren Beckford who where all pretty shocking.

  9. I hope its the making of both them and that they will come back, I think spillane has a lot of potential and i know a luton fan who has been very impressed with him in particular. He Just needs to get a settled position and is playing at centre back for Luton. I agree with the comment about realising about being lucky to be at City its a good eye opener for them.

  10. Just wanted to say that It''s great that Delia has leant some more money to the club, it''s still her cash and I''m sure she could have used it elsewhere.

One thing though its not clear whether Delia has put this money in as a result of the Turners pulling their cash offer or was this money agreed before the announcement. The EDP said there was still a 1.5mill shortfall which would suggest that that this money was budgeted before the Turners announcement. It may be just some PR letting us all know that she is still putting money into the club, but it''s been dressed up a little as her putting money in to replace the lost cash from the Turners. Whichever it is it''s not really that clear

Anyway if the club was to go into administration (unlikley as i think it is), Delia''s money would be of a high priority to be returned from any asset sales. It would actually be the contractors who would lose mainly, just like when Ipswich shafted all the Small Businesses it owed money to when it went into administration a few years ago offering them somthing like 10p for every pound owed. Still what would you expect from them.

  11. I think alot can be summed up by the national team, when I watch England play they are currently one of the most boring sides I have ever seen. I desperately want to feel the same excitment for the national team i did during the 1990 world cup, or even 1996. I''ve thought about why I feel differently about them and I think it''s because of the superstar status and wages, i feel if they are worth that much per week then they owe the fans a performance every time they pull on that shirt. Whereas when they were paid less it felt more like a team effort between the fans and the players, we all recognised during the 1990 world cup that we werent the best team in the world, but we were all in it together.

When you hear of premier league players and managers complaining about the amount of games they have to play, it makes me laugh why dont they try and play a 46 league game season in the championship against players who will just run hard and scrap for results. I think football has forgoten who it is for, the fans, if no one turned up to the matches or watched it on television, sky would pull the plug and the premier league teams would be up sh^t creek without a paddle. I actually was a little annoyed at the lack of matches when we were in the premier league, it seemed every week there was a break or no midweek matches which I have always loved for atmosphere.

  12. Lets just hope we dont get any injuries to our own permanent players, with only five of the loans allowed to play and all of our own players getting shifted out they''ll be asking for anyone on the loud speaker who can play in the crowd or maybe Roeder and Clark will have to dust off their boots.

We now also have to try and sign players in Jan, havent we been told  in the past that this is a very difficult and inflated time to do business by the board and managers. Smacks of no money to me?

  13. I thought Roeder wanted competiton for places, how exactly have we got this at centre back now is anyones guess. Shackell was a good back up, who obviously wanted a first team place. Ok he had his fair share of  bad days over the last three years since we were relegated, but I''ve seen Doherty have some absolute stinkers aswell, and could say the same for every player in city colours who had been part of the club over the last three years.

I wouldnt be surprised if he did well for wolves, and this may just be the motivation he needed to get his career back on track. I felt he might have matured into a good centre back, Malky Mackay had a lot of critism and a stint in our reserves about the same age and look what a good player for us he turned out.

  14. Have to agree with you was very disappointed that shacks didnt live up to his early promise, didnt mean it wasnt going to return eventually, just Doherty and shackell as a partnership just didnt work at all. My worry is 3 of the 5 at the back (including Marshall) arent actually ours, so the problem is only fixed temporarily.

If Bertrand and Kennedy keep performing the way they can, we wont have a snowballs chance in hell of signing them in Jan when their deals run out, the fulhams, sunderlands or one of the promoted teams will come in for them. then we are back to square one. I dont want to see Doherty back in centre of defence there would be a big problem with pace. Doesnt matter for Dejan he reads the game well enough for it not to matter, so was kind of hoping we would make Kennedy permanent once shacks had been sold with the extra cash, while he still seems a gamble to other clubs.

drury is injury prone so were left with bertrand and what happens if he gets injured like he did in the spurs friendly i wouldnt want matty patty covering there again. 1st we have a small squad now complaining of a pointless signing unbelievable. this club is not the only joke some of the fans are too.
So now we need cover for cover. a luxury we seem to be only able to afford a full back, is this nuts or what, I am sure we can get at least a handfull of games from Drury.

  16. Hope your right about saving wages for a bigger purchase, past experience tells me to somehow doubt this is the case.

and the guy is a full back according to Middlesboroughs website who can cover centre back not usually the best option for a team  hoping to gain AHEM promotion (sorry something got stuck in my throat), surely would have been better to keep Spillane or have a recall on him, if we were trying to save wages.

  17. I just despair at all the loan players, good to know we are building for other teams futures. As good a players as some of them are, the team will need rebuilding mid season, can hardly see us developing something for the long term future or even medium term. No offence to any of the new boys particularly Kennedy or Bertrand who look really good but they are not going to get us promoted like Hucks and Crouch to some extent did.

How many loans can we play at once is it still 5?. Another thing if we cant play all these players it might make teams think twice about loaning us players in the future.

I know bertand and kennedys deals run out in Jan, lets face it now is the time to sign Kennedy or someone from the lower levels of the premier league may well come in for both him and bertrand in Jan.

Please let us sign a permanent striker and not another loan

  18. I''ve seen it mentioned on tele that it''s £900,000 up front, although cant find the reference now. i doubt we would sell him for £500,000 seems a little to low to me for a 24 year old. But with Norwich who knows? dont think we could get a decent replacement in for only £500,000 so would be a strange deal

  19. Birmingham have hardly set the footballing world alight over the last 30 years and a woman in Karen Brady has had a significant role in his own club. He may have some valid points about being too nice, but thats because Norfolk is in general a nice place to live. I''m sure we would be a lot more vocal if we came from some crap hole like Birmingham and had nothing else in our lives, the players may also perform a little better if it wasnt as relaxed as a place, not much we can do about this. Of course he may just be sour because we tend to get good results against his team. Even under Grant we beat them.

Still at least we are the number one team in our city, I dont see Norwich United challanging us just yet. I have five words for Birmingham fans ''Aston Villa and West Brom''

  20. I dont think Doherty is a terrible player and is good enough at this level, but I have concerns about him being good enough for the very top level, but I guess I dont really need to worry about that. I just feel his lack of any pace makes us sit very deep, and Shackell and him just didnt work together as a pair. Shackell had some really good games for us in the premier league, he marked Drogba out of the match, played amazingly against Man U when we won and was pretty damn good against Newcastle aswell. I personally feel he has more to offer, Malky Mackay had a dodgy year or two around about 26 years old but matured into a very solid defender later. Maybe we could have loaned him to someone like Blackpool and seen if his game could have returned to the levels of a few years ago.

Still £1 million is not that bad money, just not so good if we spend it on James Scowcroft, please dont let the Evening News be right! Lets plough the money onto Kennedy and make the current centre back pairing be the building blocks of the team. My main concern is still to many loans players so lets make Kennedy our player and bring a decent forward in, there must still be some funds left we''ve hardly broken the bank over the summer compared to teams like forrest even

Ohh and I just realised why people didnt like the word Blue in my name so changed it.

  21. I for one am gutted that Shacks has been sold or as good as, the one remaining player who played with any ability in the premier league for us. He may not have played as well as he can over the last couple of seasons, but which players have? He also played much better when he wasnt alongside Doherty.

Wolves are not stupid. McCarthy was a centre back do you really think he would sign a poor centre back for £1m? the man has managed in a World Cup and was a centre back himself during his playing days. Yes Roeder was a centre back, but lets face it the teams he played for were teams that were not as good as our own City side at the time, so he was no better than Newman, Butterworth, Polston etc.

What happens when all the hired hands go back to their clubs. Kennedy and I think Bertrands deals only run until January. so with 3 of the back four are not even our players, we could be looking at having to rebuild mid season. We are in a no win situation, if they play well their clubs will want them back or be too expensive, if they play badly we dont want them anyway.
