1. This is by no means black and white. I have read countless times that he "went over the ball" or "mistimed" the tackle. Giving a red card implies that what he did was reckless and/or dangerous. Having seen it clearly in real time and watched the replay many times, I am certain that all he did was put his body between the player and the ball. He accidentally made a tiny amount of contact with the player. It looked worse than it was because it was unexpected and unusual. In my opinion it was not violent, dangerous or reckless so it was not worthy of a red card. However, I can see how people would interpret it as a deliberate stamp and this is certainly why the red card was given and why any appeal would be pointless. It is subjective and there is obviously no way of being 100% sure either way. To talk about it in objective terms is a bit ridiculous.

  2. statto.com is great for historical tables. It''s really interesting looking at previous seasons and comparing how the table looked after 10 games to the end of the season. Usually one or two teams who were at the top went on to get promoted. Typically, when a team did drop away, it was one of the smaller teams (although us and Leicester are notable exceptions).I would be surprised if Huddersfield manage to keep their form going. It remains to be seen whether anyone else will be able to challenge us and Newcastle for a top 2 spot. Maybe Villa will mount a spectacular recovery or maybe we''ll stop grinding out the narrow victories and drop away or perhaps another team will go on an unexpected run, but I fully expect it to be Newcastle and us getting the automatic promotion places.

  3. I have to say, while Burton were commendable in their efforts, they were one of the dirtiest teams I have seen at Carrow Road. It seemed like they left the boot in at every opportunity, right from the first minute of the game. I guess it''s a hangover from having risen rapidly from the lower leagues. The weak referee did not give us much protection at all.

  4.

This is a truly tragic event and totally

inexcusable, but if politicians fail to listen to the people then the

people take extreme action. Unfortunately, Labour do not listen at all

on immigration and actually have cause these problems, so there is no

proper democracy. The EU is going the same way and you can see that by

the rise of nationalism, especially after Merkel''s stupid invitation

    last year.
It appears that the majority of the

country are in favour of LEAVE but again the majority of politicians are

for staying in, quite often for personal and selfish reasons.
    We

have to vote LEAVE to keep our democracy, otherwise in the EU the

situation will continue to escalate because of the lack of democracy.

So what you are saying that if people don''t pander to the xenophobic end of the political debate they bring on crazed right wing lunatics stabbing them?

Perhaps you would like to rethink your post assuming you are not a member of the National Front?

I didn''t know her but she seems to be a very decent campaigning selfless person who stood up for the disadvantaged in society
^This!Paul Moy, your opinion is absolutely disgusting. This politically motivated assassination was not the result of when "politicians fail to listen to the people", it was born out of the horrendous intolerance and hatred which has been brought into the mainstream by the increasingly right wing press. You are a truly awful person!

  5. I do take your point though, she''s always banging on about playing a back 5 with wingbacks; completely failing to understand that it really doesn''t work against teams playing 1 up front.

As we sit in the river end, the main danger would be that she might make some noise and wake up some of the sleeping old people around us. I joined in with OTBC once and you wouldn''t believe the brutal looks I got.

  6. I wonder if it''s all bad luck or whether they have some deeper issues with the physical conditioning of their squad?

It strikes me that, this being their first time at this level, perhaps they don''t have the necessary expertise, technology and routines in place to get all their players into the best physical condition to avoid injury.

It certainly shows the importance of having strength in depth in the squad. It remains to be seen how good Bournemouth''s second choice players are. One worrying sign for them is that they have (with the exception of against us) been playing really well but not winning. Their performance can only get worse.

  7. It''s a bit of a catch 22. Match fitness can only be obtained through regularly playing in full blooded, high tempo, competitive matches. These come with increased risk of injury and necessary recovery periods. Because VOO had not been featuring in the team, there was no way for him to become match fit and, once he was behind the rest of the regular squad in this regard, he became impossible to select. By sending him out on loan he can play in competitive matches and get used to operating at a higher tempo etc. Hopefully he can find a bit of form while he''s at it. If he comes back looking sharp, confident and up to it then he might break into the team.

  8. He clearly deliberately blocked the ball with his hand. It looked instinctive in real time and the slow motion was very incriminating. The crux of the matter is whether the umpires were able to decide that he was deliberately stopping the ball hitting the stumps or simply defending himself. I cannot see how they could possibly make that decision one way or the other as there is no way of knowing what was in the batsman''s mind. Yes, the ball would have missed him and may well have hit the stumps, but it was going close enough for him to take evasive action. Without certainty, he should have been given not out.

  9. You''re not the first to call me deluded: my talking fluorescent llama is always telling me I''m bonkers; but at least I can use punctuation!

I''m not suggesting that Bennett''s injury was the sole reason for our relegation. We did miss Grant Holt, Pilkington was injured a lot, the new signings were average at best (not to mention the tactics). However, he was a key player for us who made 59 premier league appearances before his injury.

What exactly do you disagree with?

  10. Bennett is a class player who featured heavily in the team which secured back-to-back mid-table finishes. In my mind it is no coincidence that the season he got injured was the season the club was relegated.

Having missed a whole season, it was always going to take some time for him to work his way back to full fitness and back into the team. However, in that time, Nathan Redmond has massively improved into the most dangerous and exciting player at the club. I guess in the current market It would cost upwards of £20m to buy a better right winger.

The only way I could see Redmond and Bennett in the same team is if Redmond played in the hole instead of Hoolahan or if Bennett played at right back. Both are possible but seemingly unlikely so Bennett will remain in the development squad as cover in case of injury. He is still the second choice right winger at the club.

  11. Thankfully we''ve got plenty of cover in midfield. Tettey is more than capable in the centre and Howson could drop in there if necessary, Johnson too once Olsson is fit and Brady can play wide left. I like the look of Mulumbu but I don''t thing he is vastly superior to the other options. None the less, it''s a blow to lose him.

  12. I don''t think Brough (that''s how it should be spelled) did out-sing us at Wembley any more than we out-sang them. At certain points we were quieter and they sounded loud but, at other times, we were deafening. It might have seemed different in other parts of the crowd, but I have never heard OTBC sung louder and I''m sure a lot of the Brough fans will have felt out-sung at times. It is very common for sections of the home fans to be very quiet, no matter which ground you are at, and often the atmosphere can be a bit flat - especially if things are not going well on the pitch. At times recently I have felt that the Carrow Road crowd have noticeably upped the noise level for crucial games. We could do with having a few more songs which are more widely known among all the fans, but I think OTBC is great as it is. Sure, it may have changed over the years, but everything does; and it is rather old.

  13. I spoke to a very helpful lady at Club Wembly who said that there are still some hospitality packages available in level 2 (at £300 odd each) on the Norwich side. You can call on 0800 783 1440.She said that there were a very small number of Club Wembley tickets which had not been taken up on the Norwich side and none at all on the Middlesbrough side. If these were not taken up then they would be made available to the club. I might try ringing the club to see if there are any ticket-only seats available within their corporate allocation...
