1. We have a youth academy that has been invested in heavily over the last few years, a youth system that has produced the following International youth players, Chris Martin, Michael Spillane, Rossi Jarvis, Ryan Jarvis, Andrew Cave-Brown, Joe Lewis - all home grown players that our so called supporters barrack and abuse at the first sign of a mistake.

However we loan Internationals of the same standing, Henry and Gibbs have both been in the sames squads as Rossi Jarvis and Chris Martin, and are all surprised to see that they really aren''t very good!!! We have seen with how Rossi Jarvis, Micheal Spillane and Chris Martin have struggled to make a big impact in the Championship that players of this age aren''t quite at the physical level to cope. The likes of Bertrand and Evans are exceptions to the rules and would love to see them at FCR next season, but in general players of this age aren''t ready to play at this level.

I feel that in Michael Spillane we have a player who will make the breakthrough sooner rather than later, but can we please show our own youngsters the patience we show players from other clubs when they come to us. Spillane and Martin have both produced performances for us far in advance of anything we have seen from Henry, Gibbs or Pearce yet our own players get slaughtered at the first mistake, their confidence gets dented and all of a sudden we don''t see them near the first team.

Our Manager also needs to recognise that picking Pearce ahead of Shackell (i''m judging this on both of Pearces performance) and Gibbs ahead of Pattison will get us nowhere other creating disunity among the squad when NCFC players are being left out to accomodate inferior loan players. We are in a position now where relegation is a distant ghost and promotion is a lost dream so lets get back to playing players who are of the required ability and who are committed to the club. Lets get Martin involved in the squad and get him playing with Dion for the last couple of months, let''s get Spillane and Pattison into the midfield (until Fozzy commits to the club and signs a contract) and lets get Shacks back at centre half. Basically let''s give our players, young and old, the opportunity to play for their futures at the club between now and the end of the season rather than basing selections on how players look in training, because as is being proved on a Saturday the training pitch isn''t being replicated in match condiitions.

    RANT OVER!!!!

  2.
we aren''t going to win every single game. get over it.
u r missing the point!!!!

by being more positive we may have won 3 and lost 2 of those matches, but we would be 4 points better off.

I agree that the original task was to escape relegation which has been done spectacularly well, but 4 the rest of the season we can accept mid table or really go 4 it, after all we have nothing to lose!!!

  3. Since Glenn came in our home league record reads P 10 W 4 D 5 L 1 F 12 A 9 Pts 17

I salute the job Glenn has done, but with us now clear of relegation isn''t it time that we became a little more positive in our home games. 5 draws from 10 matches and only 12 goals scored surely needs to be improved on if we are to give ourselves any chance of making the play-offs. More worrying is the fact we have won 1 and drawn 4 of our last 5 home games therefore we have dropped 8 points at home and we haven''t scored more than once in any of these games.

It is in my opinion time to return to playing 2 wingers at home and taking a few more risks, like i say we are well clear of relegation but the current home form won''t lead us to the play offs. Come on Glenn, lets make this a season that no one ever forgets!!!

  4. no problem with the comment...... it is 100% TRUE, without Hucks we would never have gone into the Premiership and would almost definetly me in League 1 by now. He has shown true committment to the club, he may wear his heart on his sleeve, but so what, thats all the other 22,000 people who turn up at FCR every other week do. Hucks will still play an important part this season and if that is from the bench then so be it, and if this is his last season here then so be it. Thanks Hucks for the memories, you will be remembered as a true City legend.

Maybe if some people on this board actually took time to go and watch the team play rather than believing everything they read on this board as a way of judging players then some of the criticisms may be a little more realistic. Doc has been one of the better players for a few weeks now, Cureton one of the worst, it''s a fact, it''s called form. Doc is currently playing aswell as he did when he won player of the year and Jamie isn''t a shadow of the player we signed from Colchester but i''m confident he will find his form again.

  5. i don''t have a problem with £12, but why not make it £12 all round the ground. Because i sit near the halfway line i have to pay 50% more for my ticket, i commit to the club by buying a season ticket then get told it will cost £18 to watch a match against Bury which will probably be over by half-time, actually being over at half time won''t be so bad as the 5 mins of the 2nd half i miss while waiting for a drink at half-time won''t bee so important!!!

  6. Matt,

I have no problem with tickets being reduced for cup games, but why don''t they be consistent and make all tickets for a cup game against Bury £10 when they probably won''t sell out rather than a league match against Plymouth when 24,500 would most probably have turned up anyway. This way season ticket holders in ALL parts of the ground can benefit from the clubs generosity.

In fairness to Neil Doncaster he has just called me back to tell me i won''t be getting a £6 per ticket refund, but at least he called me. I also discussed with him the ticketing structure for the Bury game and wanted to know why the area i sit in have to pay 50% more than the rest of the stadium, apparently this decision is made by Richard Gough in conjunction with Bury football club so i look forward to the call i''ll be making to him tomorrow!!!

  7. BEWARE, if u sit in the centre of the City or Jarrolds stand the tickets will cost you £18 NOT £12 as the club have advertised.

My Dad bought our tickets last week as i was at work and paid £18 each, i queried him over this as i was sure i had read £12 for all tickets on the website. Then the message was repeated as we left the ground last Saturday by the PA guy saying all tickets where £12.

So today having checked the website which read ''Seats are available in all areas, and are priced at £1 for under 16s, £12 for adults and £8 for concessions'' i rang the club to request a refund of £6 for each ticket. I was told by Richard Gough that i could have a full refund or sit somewhere else for £12, both of which where unacceptable as i want to support the team and i like where i sit. I then asked to be put through top Neil Doncaster and have left a message for him to call me. I''ll keep you updated if i ever receive this call.

In the meantime someone has gone on the website to change it so it says prices are ''priced from'', i did however print the webpage that i read to prove that the club have been mis selling tickets.

On top of this, will i get a part refund on my season ticket for the Plymouth match, after all i have paid full price for my ticket as a season ticket holder, yet casual supporters could get their tickets for £10!!!

I''m sorry, but as a season ticket holder i can''t help thinking i''m getting ripped off for my loyalty, not rewarded!!!

  8. Right, as you will know i don''t do rumours just opinions however i learned some info tonight that may be of interest.

Joe Royle was apparently interviewed on Monday after Pullis had decided he wasn''t interested, i''m not saying he''ll be the new manager but he is certainly under serious consideration.

  9. from the WBA official site, Hartson last played for the first team as a sub 8 months ago and has played 2 reserve games this season.

We are bringing in an unfit striker in the mould of the ones we already have instead of finding a poacher type striker to replace Cureton who is out 4 six weeks......bizarre!!!

More worryingly is Duffy is being given funds to spend, does this mean he is going to be given half a dozen games to prove himself? I hope not.

  10. Grant was far from a superb motivator, in fact i doubt he could motivate an alcoholic in a brewery!!!!

Management is a combination of coaching, man management and motivation, all skills that Martin Allen has shown in abundance. As for attracting players if we where in the play offs attracting players wouldn''t be a problem!

  11. Don''t confuse arrogance and confidence ShreesCanary. Martin Allen would be an excellent choice.

He took Brentford from the relegation zone to playoffs in 6 months with no money to spend, he then sold his 2 best players to balance the books and got to the playoffs again. He then rebuilt MK Dons following their relegation and got them to the playoffs aswell. On top of this he twice took Brentford to the 5th round of the FA Cup.

He is a superb motivator and very good coach who knows exactly how to get the best out of a group of players. Our squad has enough quality, it just needs managing correctly.
