1. Starting off with a 4-5-1 away from home at favourites for promotion isn''t a bad idea. You can''t play 4-5-1 with Jamie upfront on his own and if Big Dave isn''t fit enough yet having him as a sub is the best option. That leaves you with Dion or Brown upfront on their own and Dion is needed at the back.

If you can keep it tight early on away from home the away fans turn on the team after about 60-70 minutes and the moans start, they lose confidence and that is the time to make the subs and bring on Jamie and Big Dave for Brown and Lappin. Then you start hitting them and trying to steal a goal.

Basically the starting line-up wasn''t too bad of a decision but he really needed to change it with 30 minutes to go at 0-0 to try and go for the win. So still not great management because he forgot to do the important bit and try and win the game in the last 30 minutes but not terrible like everyone is screaming about.

    Yes, I think it is!.

Just as in the Worthy Out'' days, anyone daring to critise Peter Grant or the board are being rounded on by the ''Faithers''. I like to think that I''m in neither camp, but I can spot a pattern developing on this messageboard.

Party allegiences are being formed amongst the posters and battle lines are being drawn up. So much for PG and the club putting the Worthy regime behind them.

Its still here, but with a different captain at the helm!.[:''(]
Molehill ----> Mountain.

  3.
This has been well covered before but I still cannot believe the attitude of the likes of Blahblahblah. Regardless of the fact that the hotel infill may generate more income than additional fans, it is palpable nonsense to argue that the hotel was the right choice. If you accept this argument then it follows logically that the South Stand should be converted into an Asda hypermarket, the City Stand should be a multiplex cinema and so on. Why not stop there ? Just think of the income that could be generated from building high rise rental appartments on the pitch itself ? But then of course the football club would cease to exist ..........
What a ridiculous exaggeration.

Facts as far as I am aware - correct me if I''m wrong:

    * Corner will give you very little useable seating area.

    * Corner infill will cost you a decent whack of money

    * Therefore Ccorner infill is very expensive for what it does

    * NCFC have high debt and little available money

    * NCFC would be a little silly to spend large money they really don''t have that will yield very little gain.

    * NCFC have an idea which will cost them no money which could potentially produce profits while losing very little (small space of land which is not particularly useful)

  4. Problem with playing wingbacks is that they get doubled up on unless they are given lots of support from the three central midfielders and the midfielders get over run unless they all round around endlessly. Russell and Brellier will probably do this but Hucks won''t even begin to do any of that. Personally I like Semmy as an extra threat, we have a right winger who will be taking them on (Croft) and with Semmy overlapping he provides an extra attacking option that they don''t usually have against them.

In theory it''s a good idea but lets face it Norwich can''t get 4-4-2 right so I think this might not work too well.

For tonite I would go - and taking no risks with shacks

    Marshall

    Ost   Doc   Dion   Drury

      Lappin   Brellier  Rusty

                   Hux

          Brown   Strihavka

    Subs

    Gilks Murray, Croft, Cureton, Chadwick
Again I agree entirely (Apart from swapping Russell and Lappin round being right and left footers, would have them closer to their favoured side)

Brown upfront because I figure away we''ll be under pressure and he might flick things on and relieve pressure off the defence - at home would play similar but swap Jamie in.

  6.

Marshall

    Ost      Doc   Dion   Drury

        Brellier  Rusty Lappin

                     Hux

             Brown Cureton

    Subs

    Gilks, Spillane, Chadwick, Dave, Murray
Best starting 11 we could put out & in the right formation. I would have Croft amongst the subs rather than Murray or Spillane.
I thought about Croft but figured if we needed to change the system and chase the game we could go three at the back and move Ostembor forward more (either move Drury inside or bring Spillane one) so didn''t think Croft was particularly necessary.

  7.

OK

I bet, whatever the Norwich city board do for the rest of the season.... every single decision that they make will be condemed as being wrong, regardless of what that decision is.
Other than resigning.
Including resigning (should it happen).
Including giving Grant a billion pound transfer budget in Januray (should it happen).
Including registering Doncaster as a player and him scoring 5 goals a match for the rest of the season (should it happen).

    Every decision.

I also bet that if we signed Robnaldinho or Kaka (or any other player) they would be written off a rubbish by some posters who would then accuse anyone that thought they were OK of being deluded or taken in by the spin.
If we signed Ronaldinho or Kaka the moaners would be complaining that by paying large amounts of money the board are gambling the future of the club by putting it in financial trouble by paying the wages and transfer fees (imagine how much Ronaldinho''s agent is on!) but if we don''t they''ll complain that the board are not showing ambition...

  8.
This proves conclusively we need a salary cap.. and if its run and managed in the same way it is in the NFL (where the leagues pay the wages... not the clubs) then theres no way it will be exploited like it is in Rugby League!

    jas :)
Has to be worldwide though otherwise the good players will all bugger off to Spain, Italy etc. Personally not sure that''d be such a bad thing - we have TV''s and could watch them on the TV still while at least then we might play some young English talent in our country but that''s another debate.

  9.
dont be ridiculous .
What he said.
Im sure he is the one player that ALL norwich city fans would play before choosing the rest of the team.
Simply put - no. All Norwich fans would not choose Hucks over the rest. Don''t get me wrong, he''s a good player but we have had so many better players, those that have been exciting and good for the team consistantly at the top level - Hucks hasn''t done that, one season ending in relegation at the top level is not even close.

  10.

On the flipside, it could be a great opportunity for Spillane to finally come of age and show us and Grant what he can do.
I agree completely, I pray he plays and has a blinder!!  Then when Shax returns - no more Doh.
I really don''t understand why people have a go at Dochety and think the sun shines ot of Shackels derierre. Both have looked shaky at times this season, but they have not always been helped by what they find in front of them.
Agreed, the only member of our current defence I''m happy about is Semmy (Who is my new favourite player) Drury, Doc and Shacks are all below standard in my opinion. I don''t think Doherty is any worse than the other two but gets singled out because he''s not Drury who was amazing three years ago or Shackell who came through our youth team. They''re all below standard and when you use all three it makes the defence absolutely terrible as a combination of them. If any single one of them were played with two other solid defenders it wouldn''t be a problem really but unfortunately the people covering for the poor defenders are... poor defenders.

  11.
If he''s injured then he won''t pass the medical and he won''t be able to sign. He''s been a great servant for norwich and if he does go i wish him all the best.
The medical isn''t "Is he fit enough to play after lunch" assessment. It''s an assessment of the general fitness of the player - it tests them to see if they have any undisclosed injuries or weaknesses that could potentially damage the player in the longer run. Not "He''s got a sore toe, not worth the risk gaffer" type report.

  12. I don''t think for a second that it would actually happen but if they did come in for him and the money was right I''m fairly certain he''d be off. A guy I know is friends with him and I knew Norwich were in for him for ages before we got him but was told that he''d never really had a big contract and never had much money (for a footballer) so as much as he would love to come back to Norwich he realised that he was coming to the end of his career in the next few years and needed to make the money now to sort him out for the rest of his life and would go where the money was. Which personally, I don''t think is being disloyal to Norwich. He''d rather be here than anywhere but who could blame him if someone came along and offered to double his wages? He wants to be able to set himself up for after football. Apparently he''s now on a bigger wage than he''s ever been on in his career before (which isn''t hard to believe considering the clubs he''s been at excluding Norwich)

I know that sounds like a mate of a mate knows him and said so, so it must be true!

  13.
No, but the goal we scored after he flapped at a cross when playing here with ... Millwall? (can''t remember, might have been Cov) a couple of seasons ago was superb.

23,000 people singing "let''s all do the marshall" whilst waving their arms was one of my all time favourite Carrow Road moments!

However, he then saved a penalty, if I remember rightly. What a git.
One of my all time favourite moments too. It was brilliant.

  14.
Gallagher has been totally professional in the way he''s managed himself in his time at Carrow Road. There has been not a peep from him in the press about being constantly demoted behind a string of loan keepers and grant has remarked how he has made each one welcome and maintained his standards in training.

He deserves our respect for that and I feel that City should let clubs know he''d be available on a free as a thank you for his attitude during what has been a difficult time for him at Carrow Road.

    d
I echo what everyone else has said. Completely agree with every word. It hasn''t worked out here but has been a model professional and done his best for this club by trying to help out the other keepers that came in on loan, even when not playing he was helping the team. Good luck and if for any reason he does ever make a return to Carrow Road I hope we all remember it and give him a cheer. I find it hard to say a bad word about him because of his attitude (and he does have ability as a keeper just never quite confident enough in him)

  15.
Shocking tactics.

Brellier was clearly unfit, so shouldn''t have been fielded in the first place and Cureton''s, who saved Grant''s bacon, coming off was totally unecessary.

Dublin should''ve replaced Doherty much earlier on but didn''t even make an appearence and Chadwick should also have started on the left instead of Lappin.

    Grant worries me.
I agree, shocking, I hate it when we win, god damn it.

Only problems I have was Vs Barnet when he brought on Martin at left wing when Chadwick was sitting on the bench.

  16.

Theres a fine line in this area, and I think Grant plays it perfectly. Players like Hucks, cureton etc know they are good players, and close to guaranteed to play every game. A little bit of criticism wont dent their confidence (They are after all very confident players). It also gives them the boot up the ass that says to them that they cant let their standards slip.

On the other hand were he to criticize a Ryan Jarvis or a Gary doherty in the press, players who are not as confident and in situations where there place in the team isnt guaranteed, this I think would have a negative impact on them.

My view is that the same people who will whinge about this approach to management would be the same people who whinged that Worthington never criticized anyone.
It was Curetons debut!!!!!!  He scored 2 goals, played well.  Maybe went for his hattrick when he should have passed when the team was 5 goals to the good....

I see no reason for the thick idiot who decided to play a young striker at Left Wing to have a go at Cureton for wanting a hat-trick when we were leading by 5 (or whatever)....  Chris Brown would have passed - maybe thats why he scores f*** all.
Martin on the left wing.....on this occasion it made sense. The game was won, Martin had been unable to play at the wkend and needed a good run out. If he had just sat on the bench im sure people would have been saying he should have came on!
Not on the left wing it didn''t, giving someone a ''run out'' in a position they do not play does not help that player. Everytime I play badly I leave my match pretty upset and it affects me - what must it be like playing terribly (which Martin did at left wing - don''t get me wrong, I rate him upfront but at left wing he''s useless) infront of thousands of people? We had Chadwick sitting on the bench, bring him on at left wing and put Martin on instead of Dion or Dave (Dion preferably, Dave needs to try and get used to English Football)
