1. I''m glad to see the majority of fans can seee the footballing sense in taking Earnie back. I''ll be honest, I was gutted when he left. The transfer wasn''t dealt with in the best way but we all know how agents work, they are only looking out for the interests of their client. They don''t care about loyalty and I''m sure he was advised that it was in his best interests to move with an agent pocketing a nice little fee.

I don''t blame Earnie one bit for leaving. How many of us would stay in the job we are in given the chance of a better salary and greater prospects elsewhere?? Really???

I think Earnshaw is a class act at this level. If he hadn''t picked up an injury in his last season for us he''d have got 25-30 goals. We can''t afford to turn that down just because he has left us for the big time once before and there are questions over his loyalty. Did the club show the same loyalty to messers Mackay, Roberts and Huckerby (sorry) in the past? NO, they shipped them out for footballing reasons when we would''ve all liked to have seen a little more loyalty shown.

Maybe he''s not a massive team player but does that matter if he hits 30 goals. I''d certainly welcome him back.

If the money is available, or we are still owed money from Derby then SIGN HIM UP!!

  2. I''d go for...

    LB - Bertrand (loan/bid)

    RB - Cork (loan)

    CB - Taylor 750k

    CB - A Nother (loan)

    ML - Hoolahan 250k

    CM - Bell 350k-500k

    CM/MR - A Nother (loan)

    CF - Evans 1M

    CF - Rasiak - 500k

    CF - Morrison - Free

I just need to come up with a couple of decent loan signings (CB and CM/CR) and I thinl this would give us a pretty healty squad competition wise.

    Transfer Fees £3M

    Loan Fees £??M

  3. I''m a regular lurker on here but don''t post a lot due to the rubbish that is usually posted! However, I feel I need to add to this thread and ask Wiz who exactly we should be signing?? IMO Bell is a very good player who will provide excellent squad competition and is an ideal signing given the numbers NCFC need to get through the door this summer.

So come on Wiz, what 11 players would you be buying and what would they cost us? OK we get two £3m strikers, great that will solve our problems won''t it? Who''s going to provide the service?
I too feel that Roeder''s not a huge Semmy fan - after Bates'' sub appearance wasn''t his first start in order to "rest" Semmy? He has had a couple of knocks this season. The Semmy/Croft combo has been one of the most promising aspects of the season for me (cue a list of things that others will rank more promising). But hey, two decent right backs in is only good for competition. I wonder if one of them fancies centre midfield on Saturday...
think this is good summary

basically roeder doesnt fancy him to be norwich city long term right back

im sort of thinking he may move on in the summer if this new chap is half decent

also feel semmy may not be 100% class yet, but he youngster who has moved up a league and never really played constantly at this standard give him time to devlop and i believe he will be good player

how about loaning him to gain so form? i know norwich require every player at the moment but if you can put a call back clause in then surely no harm can be done from a loan
5. You all seem to be playing a centre back with a bad back in your teams...I know we have struggled in that position but a 38 year old with a bad back? I think Spillane or Murray might start in place of Dion...

Duffers last game...lets go for it...

                                            Marshall

                      Spillane          Shacks            Murray

    Otsemobor                       Rusty                         Lappin

                      Croft              Smith               Huckerby

                                           Cureton

People are so blinkered it annoys me. What do you think the catering strategy is for?? Or the land sales? Forget about the HOTEL did we??

And that''s before we cash our £32.50 in for the midfield.

The board are way ahead of you, face it.
Waveney, the catering strategy, land investment and hotel are all long term strategies to raise cash. Unfortunately, you seem to be missing the fact that we need cash right now...

IMO too much has been invested off the field in order to secure the long term future of our club. The people wearing the blinkers are those that can not see our current situation. Do you think there will be much of a future if we drop to League 1? Do you think the board have budget for this? Whilst securing our long term future the board appear to have neglected our short term survival.

We''re in debt now, if we drop down a division IMO we will be in serious trouble and unfortunately have no saleable assets on the field! Do you think we''ll be getting 24,000 in league one? I, for one, will be there but I suspect many others wont...

Don''t worry though as in 5-10 years with all that catering/hotel income we should be fine right? Hmmm

  7. I agree to a certain extent Jas. Previously we have had some good players but too small a squad. NOW we have a much bigger squad and some depth but we don''t have the good players that make you a team! The SPINE of the team is missing. IMO we need a good centre half, a good central midfielder and a good striker to make us a team.

What we are missing is that Jackson/Malky, that Francis (sorry)/Etuhu, that Roberts/Ashton/Earnshaw.

Until we get this sorted I''m afraid we are only going one way. Jose Mourinho couldn''t get this team performing without any creative match winners.

  8. Unfortunately, I fear you are right. I am usually optimistic about all things NCFC but I see no way out of the predicament we are in. Well...maybe one way - Serious investment in the squad but we know that''s not going to happen.

IMO no new manager, however experienced, will be able to get the current squad moving in the right direction.

  9. I agree, I think Safri will go.

It will be a shame but Grant has said that he only wants players that are 100% comitted and we''ve heard rumours for some time now that Safri wants out. Not just this season but previous seasons too.

We saw with Earnshaw and Etuhu, discussions allegedly taking place prior to PG receiving a bid and the Birmingham papers seem to suggest that the same is going on with Safri. No smoke without fire and all.

If PG is not convinced that Safri is comitted he will not figure and I respect him for this. We have had a lot of players over the years, that IMO are not fully comitted to NCFC and I am sure PG will not let this continue.

Finally, I like Saf as a person and as a player but I think PG needs to assemble his own team and if that is a team without Safri then so be it. If Safri stayed 100% fit over the season and didn''t have to play in the African Nations and could subsequently play more than 25-30 games then this argument would be totally different.

  10. Have you got a source or link please?

I would personally love to see this happen. I think the key to getting out of this league is goals...look at Birmingham last season, how many strikers did they buy? Also, look at Charlton this season, their priority seems to be in attack.

Don''t get me wrong, I know we need a centre half, and I am sure PG does too but I don''t think another quality striker would do us any harm.

    Cureton

    Strihavka

    Brown

    Riordan

    Martin

I would be very happy with that!

PG also has to move when a player becomes available, maybe he has heard something in respect of Riordan''s availability...can he afford not to move?

  11. Spot on albyella. I have been a season ticket holder for many years now and have always supported the board in everything they do. I''ve always thought that they had the club''s best interests at heart (and they probably do) but I am very concerned about our current plight. We seem to be going in reverse!

Don''t get me wrong, there have been a lot worse times in terms of the playing squad and sitting at Carrow Road with only 6,000 others back in the early days of League 1. However, the difference is that I''ve always felt that we were moving forward. Our team was always getting better, we were moving forwards. This is not the case now.

Yes, we have to sell if there are release clauses but why are we adding them to players'' contracts who are coming from another club''s reserve side. If the player wont sign without them, don''t sign the player. Simple as that. We want players that want to play for NCFC, to take the club forward. Not players that are looking for a stepping stone and who would upset the harmony at the club. If the club itself shows ambition, surely the player will not require a ''get-out'' clause.

The board must match the ambition of its players and its supporters.

  12. Excellent post BarclayMan. I agree totally with everything you have said. I still think we need one or two players to increase the squad size and provide some competition for Shackell and Doherty but I believe we are 99.9% there!

I wouldn''t change any of the signings we have made. I think they are exactly what we needed.

We needed a goalkeeper - we got a very good one in Marshall and a well respected back-up keeper in Gilks

We needed a right back - we got a very good one in Otsemabor (yes he is good...just give him a chance before you write him off)

We needed grit in the midfield - we got that in an abundance in Brellier

We needed a couple of Strikers - We have a very highly rated prospect in the Czech lad and the league''s top goalscorer in Cureton. I must confess Cuerton worries me slightly but he has a good record, he is determined to do well at a club where he blew his chance in the past and with the team we have he should have a lot more chances created than he did at Col U.

I am definitely looking forward to this season...

  13.
more recently my cousin sponsored Norwich City before Lotus/Proton did. (Digital Phone Company) so went to a few games and meals compliments of my family links.
Does you cousin own them koimatsuba? Would he be interested if we started a campaign to bring back that phone? Quality mascot, funniest thing I''ve seen at Carrow Road for some time...well aside from some of the football over the last couple of seasons!

  14. Was about to post the very same thing...

This is good news! Not allocating the No.5 shirt is an indication that Grant is aware of the need to strengthen in this area [:)]

Either that or he is leaving it unallocated as a mark of respect for the job that Fleming done for the club. All the top european legends get this don''t they... [;)]

  15. Good call Hotdog...

Personally I think we might still get this Dixon guy when all the main targets have been signed. It''s just a case of prioritising at this moment in time. This would free Lappin up to cover down the left side of midfield.

    Dave Striker (Strihavka) [Y]

    James Collins [;)]

    Dixon [^o)]

Do I need to post another 500 times before I get opinions from the rest of you? I really haven''t got the time today but I will if I have to! [A]

  16. Firstly, I don''t want to be greedy...

BUT does anyone feel we need a left sided midfielder? I agree we need Dave Striker and a CB but if Lappin is providing cover for Drury and we don''t get the lad Dixon...who is covering Hucks?

Also I feel a different type of left sided midfielder (i.e. one that doesn''t assume a free role may give us a little more balance and stability??) Also gives us the option of playing Hucks up top or just in behind the front two. What do you think? An Alan Mahon? (I know, he''s a scummer but that type of player).

I''m surprised no one has mentioned this previously...

Personally, I think we need Dave Striker, James Collins (or another CB) and probably another Forward and a Left Midfielder. I think this then gives us depth and quality (with options) in every position. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY a team that can challenge next season!

Obviously, we don''t need to pay money for all of these and could tap into Man Yoo''s youth team/reserves if the links are true.

    Well done Peter Grant!!

  17. Personally I''m not a great fan of Andy Hughes. I think he lacks the quality needed to hold down a regular first team place at Norwich BUT as a squad member Hughes is invaluable. We have a very small squad at the moment and we need players with the versatility of Hughes to come in and give 110% when it''s really needed. Something I believe Hughes has always given whether it''s in Centre Mid, Wide Right or at Right Back...We should be getting numbers in before we decide whether we can afford to let Hughes go!
