  1. Link to BBC article about Leeds new investment:

Perhaps this and the 4 year deal just signed by one of their "most promising" youngsters - Tom Lees - might mean that Snodgrass decides to stay after all. If they''re starting to put their money where their mouth is after Snodgrass and Colin''s comments in the press this week then it may be that they''re a little more serious about keeping hold of players.

Who knows, they may even get an owner that wants them to play promotion winning football!

  2. Just spoke to the ticket office...

Tickets are not being released by NUFC until they get the decision from Sky as to whether the game is to be televised or not.

It looks like they''ll go straight to general sale, and that they''ll be able to be bought from 9am on Sunday.

From what I understand, it''ll probably be the later kick off on the Sunday if it''s Sky''d.

I''m going to be there either way - it''s a short trip from Sheffield, and I''m stopping overnight with a mate (NUFC supporter who bought his ticket this morning - they''ve released them to home "members")

  3. Just got 3 tickets after trying to get in the queue since 8am.

Lady on the phone at the other end said they''d been non-stop since 8am, and that although they weren''t sure how many tickets were actually left, the pile was a lot smaller now than when they started.

4,500 tickets were in the first allocation...

  4. I managed to go and see it live - living in Sheffield and winning 2 tickets helped.

The old Hucks magic hasn''t worn off. He was amazing - absolutely miles better than so many others on the pitch. Biased? Probably, but I think the fact that he looked match fit helped. There were one or two spare tyres on show:-)

It felt strange cheering for Leeds, although the yellow shirts made it a lot easier. The whole arena (apart from a few Leeds fans) gave a rendition of "We all hate Leeds scum" once or twice. Other than that, the atmosphere was dead for most of the evening - I couldn''t help thinking a rousing chorus of On The Ball would have got things going a bit...

I''ve just had a reply from @MastersFootball on twitter to say that they''re on the case as far as getting NCFC into the masters...

My free tickets came courtesy of being the 500th twitter follower of @MastersFootball. Apparently they''re going to be running more competitions for followers to win tickets...

Just in case anyone''s interested. They''ve got the midlands, central and London heats to do, and the final''s in manchester...

  5. Another 2 votes for the train from Sheffield here. Spoke to a mate who works on the Wyvern (just across the river from Pride Park) and he says the only problem is that the car parks are all still covered in snow - the roads are fine.

Not wanting to risk getting there and then not getting home though, so thinking about joining the others in the pub before getting the nice warm train down.

Quick tip though - the police in Derby won''t let you near the Pride Park entrance of the station without a ticket, so don''t plan to buy the return part of the ticket after the game...

    Cheers

  6. There''s a few of us up here:-)

I''d normally go to Legends in Hillsborough, but with Wednesday playing at home, it''s probably not the best plan.

The other thing is that my wife is now a few days overdue on our 2nd child, so I''m thinking about biting the bullet and giving Mr Murdoch some more money to upgrade for a month so I''m not a million miles away...

Next live match for me will be Derby (assuming I pull my finger out and get tickets sorted!) - my office is a few minutes walk from the stadium, and so we tend to park there... Let me know if you''re interested in a lift - I''ll have space for 1 or 2 (depending on whether my mate takes his son)...

    Cheers

He played out on the wing at Lincoln (right in front of us) and struggled to get past the left back on a number of occasions. Sometimes the left back got his foot on the ball, the other times MacNamee tackled himself trying to step over the ball.

I don''t remember any outstanding crosses into the box - usually just passed it behind him at the critical moment.

Of course, it could have been an off day, but he didn''t look all that great, and I don''t seem to remember him doing a lot of running off the ball to try to make space.

He switched to the left at one point, but nothing stands out as being particularly stunning.

    you agree with me [y]

Not necessarily - he didn''t do great last night, but I saw him do better last season so who knows. 1 friendly game where everyone was doing everything they could not to put the ball into the box does not necessarily give basis to form such a strong opinion. But, if it was anything to go by, then he just adds variety. and not much else.

  9. It''s amazing how we were all at a different game[:)]

I thought Jed Steer did well - one "Forster-esqe" calamity kick when under a fair amount of pressure. He''s not actually that old though, is he?

The back 3(?) did okay - OTJ looked out of his comfort zone a lot of the time from where I was sat, and I was concerned about his effectiveness. One pass to McNamee stood out for me - OTJ absolutely leathered it and nearly knocked McNamee over. This wasn''t the only time his touch let him down.

Askou played both sides of the defence at various points and did a good shift on both. Happy to come forward, but I did notice the lack of desire to put the final ball in.

I was impressed by Gill''s work rate. He was pretty much always in the thick of any action, and made the rest of the first half midfield look a bit lazy at times.

Very few crosses in the first half, McNamee for me was a bit lightweight and tried too much trickery - and was found out on a number of occasions.

There were many, many sideways passes when a prospective ball diagonally to McNamee (for example) would have paid dividends. One thing I think I noticed was that Hughes always looked for the pass backwards, and only when there wasn''t one on did he look forwards. That''s not going to win games - fine pass backwards if it makes the move work better, but don''t do it without even considering the move forwards. Feel free to flame me for this!

I was very impressed with Dawkins and Francombe. We have some stars for the (near) future there.

The front two were pretty ineffective at times (well, a lot of the time, actually). They didn''t get the service that either of them thrives on, and didn''t seem willing to "do a Holt" and get the ball from further back than the opposition penalty area a lot. Both missed a target man, and I think both will do well alongside a Holt type player.
Is Jackson really that short, or is he bigger on telly?

Breath of fresh air when the first team midfield came on, but didn''t amount to a great deal. Hoolahan''s first touches led to arguably one of our first real goal chances, and as said above the rest of the second midfield had a go - there were plenty of calls of "shoot" everytime they were within 40 yds of the goal in the dying minutes.

I wondered if there was a tactic being played to try to keep hold of the ball and retain posession as much as was possible - this was fine, but nothing moved forwards (until the last 20 minutes when the "dream team" came on) and of course the inevitable wayward pass generally led to a save from Jed Steer.

On posession, I think we won. On shots and overall likelihood to score, I''d say it was pretty close. Chris Sutton has a well drilled team there who were very effective at closing things down, and who pretty much always seemed to get to the ball before our player.

  10. You can keep it on retention longer than that (at least you used to be able to) you just have to remember to send a cheque in every 12 months to extend the retention. Gets quite expensive if you stay away for a while...

Have you got any family that would proudly "wear" it while you''re away and you can then take it back when you return?
