1. How about some of you try to remember that Norwich City is a business pure and simple and not some kind of holy shrine. All this crap about deceit and intrigue is frankly embarrassing and lives up to the ''small mentality outpost'' view of those who live in the big world outside of the closeted Norfolk bubble.Get a bloody grip for Christ''s sake.

  2. From my point of view I will continue to hold Grant Holt in the highest possible regard and stand by Norwich City''s most inspirational player for a generation. It beggars belief how so many on here have turned against him without a single shred of fact.... and if I were him I''d stick two fingers up and walk away.Norwich seems to have become a City with a village mentality based on this neurotic bilge.......

  3. If Carrow Road caught fire on match day and the evacuation call went out for ''women and children first'', there would barely be anyone left in their seats. The support has been so dumbed down at ''Delia''s family orientated little club'' that there''s hardly any boisterous hardcore fans left to misbehave.

  4.
Also i am sorry about your wife''s job, but i don''t believe it was the tories who lead this country into having such a huge public defecit, too much money has been put into public services during labour''s reign, and whoever had come into power at the last elections was going to have to make some serious public sector cuts, however much Labour like to deny that fact
Nice one. [Y]

  5.
It doesn''t just stop at GH and PL leaving the club though, does it? There''s every chance that PL attempt to buy one or two City players - Howson and Ruddy spring to mind.....

So not only would you have GH''s departure, the Club Captain and leading talisman, affecting the morale of the squad, but there is every chance that one or two, given the opportunity, would follow PL to Villa Park.

Of course it''s all conjecture, but some of the consequences don''t bare thinking about.
You neglected to mention the support. If PL and GH go along with the pick of the crop, Carrow Road will implode. Every loss will be booed off the pitch and any player who isn''t Grant Holt will be subject to abuse the minute a pass goes astray. As baldyboy has stated elsewhere, there is genuine potential for a disaster next season.

  6. And anyway.... how could anyone be depressed with the Olympic torch carrying event going on at the moment?Rivetting viewing and I can''t wait to watch some over hyped local ''look at me'' do-gooder poncing down the road feeling incredibly self important because he/she''s got a lighted stick in his/her hand.Marvellous.

This is not an attack on her but with wages/finance seeminly raising its ugly head this week, has she and the board gone as far as they can?

We are a big club, McNally said so...............maybe we need BIG backers now!
Not my normal style to be contentious... but they''d taken us as far as they could when we plunged down to Division Three. Smith and Jones''s ineptitude took us down to a 50 year league low and miraculously McNally, Bowkett and Lambert took us up ''in spite'' of the owners, not because of them.Lightning never strikes twice and unless they pack their bags very soon we''re on our way back down there.

  8.
I don''t really get why people are so upset. Football is a business now, there is no loyalty anymore. Which means most teams will never see the one club man again.

Holt has spent most of his life either semi-pro or in the lower leagues, i doubt he has been able to save enough money to live off for the rest of his life. He is doing what anybody else would do if they thought they could get a payrise.
Absolutely spot on. [Y]It''s only ever been a job for him and I defy anybody to say that they wouldn''t do exactly the same thing as they are approach ''retirement''.His family and their financial security come first.

I certainly have no problem him asking for more - but it does sound rather mercenary to ask for more money and then lob in a transfer request when it is turned down, particularly when you consider how plenty of people are struggling to make ends meet. He was more than happy to sign a 3-year contract extension last summer and I doubt he is poorly paid by any measure.
Exactly my thoughts BP.I agree that an increase in wages is probably a fair request after such a good season, but to then ask to leave when denied is a hard line to take. But let''s also be fair here and say that no-one knows for sure what''s happened here, and it would be horribly unfair to draw poor assumptions or criticise Grant without knowing the actual facts.
Ridiculous statement - how can it be fair without any knowledge of an amount? Would you say 10% is fair? What about 20%? Or 50%, or even 100%?
What he could get elsewhere is what''s fair and that''s probably double what City are paying.Would there be any tantrums if he loses form and gets dumped at the end of next season and left to the dogs to chew over? I don''t think so.
