I’m coming across overly critical, but it’s a situation that stood out as soon as I saw it. And you do wonder why Cantwell seems to lack trust from Smith.

My issue with Cantwell is that he’s actually quite limited. He’s a 10 in a 4-2-3-1, and that’s about it. Same for Dowell. Both are wasted and often carried playing anywhere else.

Don't think you're over critical at all and have every right to point out his defensive falabilities. Just think he is the sharpest creative force at the moment and on an upward trajectory form wise rather than Dowell or Onel who seemed to have levelled out.

The 10 role is a bit of a poison chalice at the moment and needs someone to make it their own.

  2. Makes no difference really either way QPR didn't score and Cantwell was hauled off after 70mins!

Todd needs his managers confidence and backing 100% to go and do what he does best. The unfortunate bit is no one seems to have 100% confidence under Smith and has done since his arrival. Fully expect Cantwell to be benched against Rotherham and Dowell/Hernandez to start.

My point is give the lad the 90mins to shine over 4 or 5 games. Then we have a fair assessment to judge.

  3. It was a awful performance 1st half bereft of energy or enthusiasm. Apart from Onel nobody seemed to be sprinting for the ball, just ambling about the pitch. Our midfield is woefully disjointed and thankfully Stoke were just as sh!t in that department. It wasn't until Gibson cleared out a few players with a header and Cantwell tracked back to win the ball that the crowd really got fired up.

I don't think Hayden is the answer ( not mobile enough) nor playing Nacho in the QB role (needs to be in the 10) Gibbs is decent in the CDM role just needs a more mobile playing partner...in short too many square pegs in round holes. It doesn't take a genius to see this!

    Booooo!!!! 😂

    EXACTLY!!!

Jedi, love your sentiment buddy, but unfortunately people's faith in a badly managed team has got to be wearing thin.

Believe me, there isn't one fan or poster on here who doesn't want our team to do well consistently or at least put in a performance that warrants accolade even if its not a positive result. Unfortunately if Smith was half the manager he thinks he is, we wouldn't be booing at all! He would have this team purring like a 5.0 AMG and that wouldn't take much surely.

If we could see what he is trying to achieve or plan then yeah a lot more would buy into him, if he had a sense of empathy or connect with the fans then yeah I'd buy into him. If he came across a bit of a maverick, a Mourinho type with flair and arrogance and revving the crowd up, yep once again I'd love it....however he does none of these things and we are left all a little bit disenfranchised. So if we are left a bit meh, surely the players don't stand a chance of reaching maximum potential working under him.

In saying that I will be there today and will be giving the support our performance deserves! Let's hope he's taken a personality enhancer and we can get on with winning this league.

The amount of people advocating Scott Parker is actually making me feel physically sick. Would genuinely rather stick with Dean Smith. With Hughton as assistant manager! Christ! I mean, Scott Parker!!??? 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

All the best. Big Keith Scott.

Is it his hair? It's a bit plastic looking isn't it!

Oh please just shut the f**k up you tedious morons. It was a bad game. Where were you wastes of space in the nine game unbeaten run? Still calling for sackings. Why are you people all so utterly inadequate that you have nothing better to do than to call for managers to be sacked all of the time? Get a life ffs.

If he gets sacked, I hope we go down to league 1 so maybe some of you useless moaners lose interest.

This is a message board in case you hadn't realised, which basically means we are allowed to post how we feel about our wonderful (yet poorly managed) club.

I was calling for him to go during our lucky run. So when is enough enough for you with your mate Smith?...bottom half....bottom 3? When is it acceptable for us to want him to go exactly?

Hardly inadequate to have an opinion is it really? Oh and I have a great life thank you.

If Dean Smith stays in charge you will get your wish of League 1 football and then you'll be happy won't you...lots to post about then...

Its also rather churlish to questions someones level of support for our club ever!!...for better or worse we will always follow the boys in green and yellow..just preferably without Dean 'clueless' Smith yeah!

So in future my angry Dean Smith loving friend less personal posting and more constructive reasoning of why he's doing a great job....which he isn't!

No idea what you are responding to, but Farke started believing in his own hype and was falling out with and discarding players at an alarming rate.

It would have been nice to have bought more expensive players, but perhaps Farke would have destroyed their confidence last season like he did Tsoliz, Giannoulis and Cantwell. Adam Idah looks a new man under Smith too, and what on earth was Farke thinking discarding Onel in favour of the Polish beanstalk.

I think Farke had some extreme personality traits which saw him fall out with a lot of players, was their unity in the squad? Last season I don't think things were harmonious at all. He could be a bit toxic.

I'm sure Leitner was difficult to work with, but it always shocked me that Trybull was put in the bomb squad, seemed like such a nice chap and gave it all on the pitch.

Farke did really well to build a league winning side in just 2 seasons here, but he's got a dark side and I'm not sure we can actually afford to sustain his attrition rate when we're talking big money players. More manageable when they are cheapos and free agents.

If Mr. Dean 'a bit mediocre' Smith leads us to a league title this season i think people may start to realise that our success is down, dare I say it, to our growth off the pitch, and our philosophies imposed by Webber and Ward, and not as much down to Farke being some sort of a genius.

If Farke was a genius at anything it was cultivating fan buy in. Smith is already showing himself better at making game changing subs... Sara on for the assist yesterday weren't it?

Errr, the current article on the home page matey.

Yeah totally agree Farke could be a bit dismissive of his players, but which of his cast off's are currently tearing up trees and making us wish he'd kept them? Cantwell wasn't Farke..it was personal stuff (allegedly), Tzolis isn't good enough, Idah scoring against Everton made him a new man!? He won't ever be prolific unfortunately. As for our man 'Onel!' let's face it he loves us and we love him...but he isn't Premiership class and has struggled in the Champs.

As for Smith being a master tactical genius that's honestly laughable. He throws roughly 3 on at a time between the 64th and 74th minute and normally it's the energy lift we need to get our foothold back with the quality we have. I believe any of us could manage that!

It all just feels a bit 'Meh' and you're maybe right Smithy will win us over, but I will truly love the 'Farke Years' for better and worse. Just don't think Deano will give us that same passion.

I saw the headline and decided it wasn't worth reading. Glad I didn't, as judging by your message, he was critical of Farke.

I think Smith is doing a decent job and I don't have a problem with him staying (even though I find him a little uninspiring). However, I absolutely and whole-heartedly wish that we had never sacked Farke. I don't think I will ever "get it" with a manager like I did with him again.

The article gave me the red mist, which upon reflection probably means this 'cornflake' works for the 'talk****e' pillocks.

But yeah it's the 'This man wants it and feels it as much us' rapport that I loved and now miss.
