1. Jas:

This was  my reply to an earlier thread today:

This is the downside of Worthless being given an ''evergreen'' contract, as it''s known in the trade.

What this actually means is that there is no end date to it  i.e. it is not for a fixed term.  It literally runs for ever (unless it specifies a retirement age, like 65....) and can only terminated by 12 months'' notice, whether given by Worthless to the Club or vice versa.

If Worthless were to resign, the Club need not ask him to work his 12 months notice, nor need they pay him anything; but if the Club gives him notice, then they must pay him 12 month''s salary if they don''t want him to hang around.

So, when Worthless says “I signed a contract with this football club. I am committed to this club, to my job and I will honour that contract" what that actually means in practice is that he will NEVER go away unless he''s fired or he resigns.  There is literally no end point until his retirement date!!

I do begin to wonder, however, if he and Skipper aren''t doing their dirty business in public here - first one to blink is the loser... Wink [;)]

    We can only hope.

  2. If the Club did the following, I sincerely believe it would - at a stroke - get rid of all the frustration and bitterness which is currently building up:

    1. sit down with Worthington and establish that, ''by mutual agreement'', he and his backroom team will leave at the end of this season

    2. announce this as soon as possible, coupled with the statement that the search for a new manager will begin in the very near future (cf the current England manger scenario with Eriksson).

By doing so, the following would be achieved:

    1. there would be a maximum of 10 (rather than 12) months of Worthington''s contract for the Club to pay off, since he would be working for 2 of them - a better use of the Club''s resources. By taking this approach, the Club may even be able to negotiate something less than a 10 month pay-off, since Worthington would be expected to mitigate his future loss of income.  As always, the devil would be in the detailed wording of his contract.

    2. the protests, silences and other planned forms of dissent would cease immediately, which will help the players enormously.

    3. the manager and his staff would leave with some dignity, rather than being ''forced out'' precipitately.  For what he has helped achieve over the past few years, Worthington deserves to be allowed to go with his head held high.

    4. time and space would be created to re-establish good relations between the Club''s representatives and its fans.  I for one am very concerned that recent events will persuade Delia and Michael to consider selling out, even if they continue to attend as fans.  That would be disastrous for all concerned.  They are a genuine force for good in this Club.

    5. the Club will give itself more time to choose Worthington''s successor.  In particular, it will give the Club the opportunity to approach candidates in due course who are currently trying to achieve promotion or similar glory for their current clubs.  Nor will the Club have to do this in a clandestine way, fearful that Worthington might get to hear of it.  Rather, it will be a known fact that NCFC are in the market for a new manager, Worthington and his team having agreed to leave.

    6. some of our younger players could be properly ''blooded'' in the remaining games so that we can all see just what jewels we have, or haven''t, got coming through. Since we are only playing for pride now, I believe the fans would not just understand this, but positively welcome it.

    7. if interested in the job, potential managers could watch some of our games (home or away) and form their own opinion of the players. The close season would then be used by the new man to decide who to keep and who to say goodbye to - and he would be doing so having had some opportunity to see them play.

As I say on another thread, somehow, this boil just has to be lanced before the relationship with the Club becomes irretrievably soured.  I believe sincerely that my proposal could form the basis of a satisfactory settlement for all concerned.

  3. There''s no doubt that we are the ones who have to say ''thank you'', Kathy.  Beforehand, I was really anxious that the evening might descend into recrimination and produce all the wrong headlines. The fact that it didn''t means all credit to the organisers, to Roy, and indeed to all those who attended, whatever their viewpoint.  All credit too to Peter Worsley for having the courage to give a different point of view. That took guts, IMO.

I believe the way the meeting went showed beyond doubt that those who want change do care, deeply, about our Club; that we are being responsible in what we are saying and doing (some of us do get a bit ''sharp'' on the Forum, I''m the first to acknowledge...); and that the Club really ought to listen (really listen) to its fans and act, now.

    Thanks again. [:)]

  4.
It might be because they have already decided upon the course of the action and such childish gimmicks serve no purpose other than to appease the less bright amongst us. The club has stated quite clearly that Worthington is not leaving and that no action in that department will happen till the end of the season. It also looks as if they maybe taking a few that any drastic action now will be deemed as bowing to a minority of ill informed hotheads and binners on a wind up. Not a way to run a serious business at any point.
If this really is the case, the Club could always come out and say that, ''by mutual agreement'', Worthless will be leaving at the end of the season (cf Sven Boring Eriksson) and that the search for a new manager will begin in due course.

I could just about cope with the above outcome.  It would mean dire football until April (but the season is over anyway...),  but it would also mean that Worthless wouldn''t be dealing with who''s in and who''s out next season...

Somehow, this boil just has to be lanced.  The relationship with the Club is becoming worse and worse.

  6.
So 500 is a majority in relation to how many of 25,000 that didnt turn up but attend each week, even if added to the ''masses'' who couldn''t make it! Many would have benn there for good old nosiness and because they had nothing better to do! And onto ''OTBC''! Fans are now unwilling to support THEIR team by refusing to sing THEIR anthem. Who exactly does this hurt? The players - most havent been here long enought to know any of the words; the management - theres hardly been any noise in carrow road this season anyway so whats the difference. This action is pathetic and childlike - toys need to go back into the pram - and will only serve to highlight the club in a bad light. Most people with respected views on the situation both locally and nationally have alluded to the difficulties in re-establishing solidity in a post-relegation season. And its not only from prem down, its all through the league. Most of the same fans that attended tonight would have been first in the queue under City Hall to cheer the League Champions or to applaude the team for giving their all to beat Man U, Charlton and Newcastle at the end of last season against massive odds. Reality check. NCFC were in this division for 9 years before getting out again and went through how many managers? Look at what happened to Ipswich when they got rid of Burley! No promotion, asset stripped and on the verge of backruptcy. So for a meeting billed on addressing the current situation at Carrow Road, what is the ''current situation'' at Carrow Road and what objective solutions have been put forward outside of Sack him and Protest That. Any constructive or all destructive?
Thank you Barmy Kipper - and Goodnight!

  7. Putting injuries to one side, when the youngsters have been available, he''s been too reluctant to play them (Hendo excepted).  If he has, it''s been for just a few minutes.

Worst of all, a good game by one of the lads (e.g. that great Jarvis goal earelier in the season) has been ''rewarded'' by a place on the bench (at best) the next game.  Lousy psychology, IMO.

Indeed, it''s all so bizarre and inexplicable, it leads me to conclude that he''d rather play loanee jouneymen of questionable skill and commitment than give the lads a chance, for some reason known only to him.

With the season officially over, he should be blooding them now, IMO.  Personally, I don''t think the fans would get on their backs (as they have tended to do with Hendo, who''s had more than his fair share of chances, IMO)  because it would be clear what he was doing - especially if he explained his end-of-season ''youth development'' policy in the match programme.

What''s there to lose?  Personally, I really liked the look of Cave-Brown and Spillane when they came on against the Spammers.  Full of energy and apparently not fazed by the occasion.  Haven''t seen or heard of them since.... [:)]

“We will have to consider making some changes,” said Worthington. “There are one or two that we will have to have a little look at, because it was a very, very disappointing and frustrating performance last Saturday.”

The "Ave it" episode was something made up by the club to explain DB being dropped.  I have it confirmed by his prospective father in law i.e. the horses mouth, DB upset Worthy by having an opinion in a team meeting, to which the Wothy response was "I am not having a slip of a kid telling me what to do", all it was was merely a suggestion.

Does this sound like something he would say?, I think yes.
Since when, hardly any of our own ''slips of kids'' (Shackell, Jarvis 1 and 2 etc) have had a look in... Henderson has, of course, but look what good that''s done us. Suppose he can''t be a ''slip'' any more... [*-)]

Question: If a ''misogynist'' is a person who hates or dislikes women, what''s the word for someone who dislikes ''slips of kids''?

    Answer: a ''Worthyist''.  [:)]

  10. Kathy:
As someone who will be busting a gut to try and get the meeting tonight, from London via Cambridgeshire, what will NCISA be doing if a larger number turn up than can safely be accommodated in St Andrew''s Hall?  I assumed that the Hall could take around 1,500 but I have seen someone mention 600. I am desperately keen to get there tonight, but not to find that I cannot get in!  I recognise that a huge turnout may not happen - although I hope it will - but I just wanted to check NCISA''s contingency plans.

    Thanks.  [:)]

Note how the players are listening to his every word... and some old biddy in the background has heard it all before and is yawning her head off....

  12. Thanks, your Honour.   Don''t you just love this bit...??

"As far as the season ahead is concerned, Worthington laughed off the suggestion that his side were head and shoulders above everyone else".

I think it was a misprint. It should have read:

As far as the season ahead is concerned, Worthington laughed his head off at the suggestion that his side were head and shoulders above everyone else.

  13. My ''favourite'' (i.e. the one that got me grinding my teeth...) was something like

"Well, Roy, we''re going to sit down in the dressing room and discuss this..." [latest abysmal display and thrashing by a fourth-rate team], "...find out where we are at, and take it from there".

So far, there''s been no feedback from Worthless on this one, so I guess they''re still wondering where they are at ..... To [mis]quote Barmy Kipper, "the team are not a million miles from where we want them to be..."  He''s right - more like two million...

Variations on the above quote have been endless, and have been rolled out with monotonous regularity by Worthless over the course of this awful season.  [:@]

I wouldn''t be surprised if he dishes up something similar in the pre-match pep talk:  "Right, chaps. I want you to go out, find out where you are at, and take it from there".  No wonder they all look so clueless..... It normally takes them until about 4.30 to work it out, even with more clues (presumably) being given at half-time.... I can hear the half time update now:
" Right chaps. I''ll give you a clue. You''re at a football match.  And it''s Carrer Rud this week.  I know it''s quiet, Hoooozie, but the supporters said they want to see where the team''s at before they''re willing to sing OTBC again....   So - good luck! - and, for those of you who think you''ve worked out where you''re at, remember that we have to change ends for the second half, so you may have to work it out again..."

    !!! GIVE ME STRENGTH !!!
