1. Just to inject a dose of realism here - and I hold up my hand and accept that I''ve been as guilty as anyone recently in demanding action from the Board now  - but, frankly, the Board could never - repeat, NEVER - be seen to giving in to ''mob rule'' i.e. sacking Worthless following a mass demonstration outside the ground.

That''s not to say don''t demonstrate at the next 2 home games - just the opposite - but it is to say, don''t expect an immediate response from the Board.  Such action would put the Board in an untenable postion for the future.

Imagine ''the mob'' getting their way and the Board feeling they have to heave ho Worthless out right now, appointitng AN Other, and then finding after (say) 3-6 months into the new season that he''s no better than Worthless (heard to imagine, maybe, but go with it).  ''The mob'' is outside the door - again.  What does the Board do this time?  It cannot keep responding to ''the mob''s'' demands. Then , as now, they must hold their nerve - however painful, and however contrary this may seem - amd do their dirty business at the right time.

For me, the ''right time'' would have been about 6 weeks ago when our season was, realistically, over - to give the new man a chance to see the existing bunch in action on the pitch, rather than just up at Colney playing against each other, and then sell/buy accordingly during the close season.

I am travelling in hope that the Board will see the light; make the appropriate changes as soon as the season finishes (better late than never); and give the new team - new manager and new players - a real run at promotion in 2006-7.  My season ticket (and my son''s) runs out then, and neither of us will renew unless there is

    1. a change of manager; and

    2. promotion at the end of next season.

For those who say I''m copping out, let me just say that I have supported the team (sometimes from afar) for more than 45 years now, but I simply do not feel I can justify to myself or to my family a 150-mile round trip every 2 weeks or so for more of the dross we have been served up all this season, on the pitch and afterwards through the incoherent Worthless mouthpiece.

In summary, I am trusting that the Board will have the guts to ''do the necessary'' in a few weeks'' time, as soon as this hideous season has run its course, out of the glare of publicity, and after ''the mob'' have gone on their hols.  For me, nothing less will do.

  2. I put my thoughts down a couple of weeks ago in an earlier theread, and they haven''t changed - except perhaps to harden....

And let''s not forget Carlos Robinson, the Welsh windbag... full of promise when chatting to the press ("we owe them one; we''ll put one over them on Saturday; time for the lads to stand up and be counted", etc etc etc) but consistently delivers so little on the day.

When I first saw Robinson at Carrer Rud, I thought he looked OK; quite comfortable on the ball; maybe even worth the £50K (just).

But as the weeks have gone by, I''ve noticed how much he dances around in space most of the time, with his knuckles just inches off the turf (I kid you not; just watch - if Worthless picks him again). He reminds me of my ol'' Dad on the dance floor when Rock Around the Clock gets played - not a pretty sight; indeed, a rather pathetic one, especially as he thought he looked good...

It''s the same with Carlos the Jackass, I fear - he''s always got a helpful comment for his team-mates ("Scr*wed up big time there, Flem", that sort of thing) but doesn''t exactly lead by example. His so-called ''passing'' last Friday [Burnley] was in a class on its own.

I just worry that Hooosie sees Robinson as the man to copy...

  3. From the BBC''s sports pages today:

Top of Madejski''s in-tray is sorting out a new one-year contract for manager Steve Coppell.... "Steve likes to sign one year at a time, not for any other reason than he is a very honest and straightforward gentlemen. He doesn''t want to sign any more than a year - just in case things don''t happen the way he would expect them.

If we had not got promotion, it would have been highly unlikely he would have stayed for another season. He would not want to be here because the contract says he has got to be here.

He takes contracts very seriously, which is refreshing. A lot of managers would want a contract for as long as they could get but Steve is the opposite".

It''s a refreshing attitude all right!  What a pity it''s not exemplified at Carrer Rud.  If Delia et al really are intent on keeping Worthless - which I sincerely hope they''re not - perhaps they could at least turn his rolling 12 month contract into a fixed term one.

  4. Waghorn asks:"So here''s your conundrum - how do you set-up a team to play the way you want them to play at home, on that billiard table surface, and yet be able to play winning football away from home on something that all too often in this division resembles a ploughed field?"

Dunno, stupid....but Reading did it.  How about phoning Steve Coppell and asking him, rather than write this guff.   [:@]

  5. And not a ''sorry'' [:$]  from one of them....

My heart bleeds for the 500 or so who made the journey all the way up to Preston to be served that tosh - and then to be told by Worthless that it was one of our better away performances.

The man''s not even ''honest'' - to quote one of his own favourite words back at him.  He knows it was utter cr*p, but he he hasn''t the guts to say so. [:@]

  6. ...on Radio Norfolk, were "triangles", and "one-twos in the box..."

Sounds like a seven-year old''s primary school music and dance routine to me... or maybe a 2 year old''s toilet training programme (to music)....

What was there, apparently, was lots of "endeavour", with which he declared himself "pleased".

Oh, and by the way, he may now graciously consent to "trickle in" some youngsters over the next 4 games - during which, he also wants the team to "stay focused, and take it from there".

I am almost at a loss for words over this man.  He''s as pig-headed, as incoherent and, above all else, as downright stupid a person as I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.

PLEASE - Mumby - SEND HIM ON HIS WAY!!!    PLEASE...  [:@]

  7.
Don''t try it whilst facing any neighbours bedroom windows Oso. Sorry to hear you pulled something too! I suggest Greeno gives it a try against Preston as they don''t like it up ''em.
Wish I''d seen your advice before I tried it, Rudolph.  Have just been listening to a voice message from my next door neighbour.  Having broken 2 panes of glass in his GREENhouse (the irony of it!), I shall need more than physio after he''s been round, apparently....  [:$]

  8.
you make it sound like its anyone''s fault but ours. We ''the fans'' are as much as culpable for this situation and therefore share the responsibility for resolving it. How about not protesting after every defeat?
At least Norwich fans don''t attempt to burn down the stadium after a poor performance, as the Juve fans did last night. Delia, Michael et al are SO lucky to have us supporting their team...

  9.
I think Green should flick it up and punch it in an underarm motion and to avoid pulling his shoulder muscles should use his spare hand to catch his flying arm in the pit of his elbow.
Thanks Rudolph.  I''ve just tried out this manouevre in the garden, following which I had to phone a physio (with my good arm) for an urgent appointment.....

Are you still commending it to Greeno, nevertheless??

  10. R Green Esq. seems to feel that he has only 2 choices when getting rid of the ball:

    1. hoof it to Earnie (for which the opposing centre back invariably says ''Many thanks''); or

    2. roll it to Flem (for which he invariably says ''No thanks'', passes it to Hooooooosie, who passes it back to R Green Esq, who hoofs it to Earnie.....)

I feel that the drop-kick (as used in rugby) might well be the answer.  It''s certainly much easier to be accurate drop-kicking a football than it is a rugby ball; it doesn''t need to fly so high, so it just might just give Earnie (or certainly Leon) a chance; and it can even be a variation on a long, attacking throw-out for Hucks, Leon or Earnie.  With a bit of practice, I''m sure Roberto could master it.

Is this too simple a proposition?  [H]

  11. Extract from Radio Norfolk outside broadcast, ths Canaries having just narrowly lost 0-6 at Carrer Rud....

Roy:  "Nigel. How do you spell passion?"

Nigel:  (Thinks) "Er, that''ll be F.P.A.S.H.U.N., Roy"

Roy:  "No Nigel. You''re wrong there. There''s no F in passion"

Nigel:  "Oh yes there is, Roy.  90 minutes worth in every game, Roy...  Real passion, Roy.  Don''t know which games you''ve been watching this season Roy, if you can''t see the passion in the team, Roy..... Take last week''s Burnley game, for example, Roy....   Roy?  Roy?  He''s b*ggered off again.  He did that to me at QPR when I was talkin'' to him... and at Selhurst Park... and at Reading.... and... "

  12.
I am absolutely certain that Nigel Worthington thinks he knows what he is doing.
As in - just waiting for the pay-off at the end of the season??? He certainly gives the impression he''s pitching for his P45... Either that, or he''s completely lost is marbles.

    Strait-jacket for Worthy!!

  13. He''s picked the ball out of the back of the net a mere 134 times in the past 2 seasons'' league games alone - and we have yet to complete this season''s campaign, which can''t come soon enough for me.  What''s that tell us? (apart from the fact that he can bend down OK).

Oh, and by the way, he''s yet to save a penalty, if I remember correctly.

He''s good, but certainly not the best goaly Norwich have ever had.  There''s at least 3 ahead of him, IMO (Gunn, Woods and Keelan).  Some would add Kennon, no doubt.

I''d wish him well if he left in the summer.  He''s been a good servant to the club, but by definition, he''s not been the difference between relegation and staying up last year, nor between promotion and staying down this year.
