1. I think if we make 82 or more it will be enough - probably even if we lost to Swansea. I doubt 80 will be the final total for the 2nd placed team. We can but wait and see. All we can do at the minute is go out and get 3 points and see if the others can keep up. A win on Saturday combined with Cardiff failing to win could see them pretty much out of the race. Less than a win for us could see Cardiff come almost level with us and make it a 3, 4 or even 5 way fight for 2nd.

  2. Yeah this is the biggest joke story ever. No way on earth would our club sell Holt - certainly at this moment. He is probably the most inspirational player behind all of the good work we have done in the last 2 seasons and the people in charge now are very much aware of that. Lambert would sooner have his balls cut off and go work for Ipswich than have Holt sold.

If you both like the name then that''s all that matters.  I was just giving you my honest opinion on the name.

Did you get the name just from looking through a baby name book?  I wondered if it was also connected to the famous author Aldous Huxley?

It''ll probably get shortened to Hux (especially by school friends) which sounds rather cool.

Just from a name book. And I will be calling him Hux too so its all good :o)

    Congratulations on the baby[Y]

I am not a fan of the name Huxley.  When I say the name I think "cartoon dog", don''t know why?  It''s not my opinion that count''s though, it''s whatever makes you happy on this exciting new addition to your life.[:)]

Ha! Funny you should say that - my wife keeps saying ''Does it sound too much like a dog''s name?'' I won''t tell her your comment. The closest dog name I can think of is Mutley. Not that similar though is it. I think we are going with Huxley. Initials are safe with HPW.

I used to work with a guy called Alan Smith. Apparently his middle name was going to be Richard until somebody pointed out the initials.

  5. Been thinking about this since Saturday. I don''t know if this is justifiable, but I feel like in the past, when we have had chances to move into auto-promotion places, we have failed to get the win that we wanted. Pre-Lambert I mean. Our recent history on Sky TV does not look too promising either. But for some reason I feel really confident that we will go out and get the win on Monday. I think this current team just have the confidence and ability to ruthlessly turn the screw now that it really counts.

    Anybody else think so?

  6.
I agree with most of what has been said on here and of course like everybody else I hold a high opinion of Lambert too. However, that doesn''t mean his judgement is always perfect and his signings of Wilbraham, Jackson and MacNamee are IMO far from being the best or even shrewd. Of course, I realise that in saying that I invite the sort of instant facetiousness that Keelan''s Glove ''s very reasonable post did earlier in this thread but I really couldn''t give a fig. My concern is this : when the game is ebbing away and we need to throw on players who can clinch three points for us (never mind enhance our goal difference) who have we got on the bench apart from non-impact subs such as Jackson and Wheelie - yes, I know he scored the other night and I hope he scores loads more and shows what a shrewd signing he turned out to be .......but the facts speak for themselves, neither Jackson nor Wilbraham are fit for purpose - that''s not to say they won''t be in the future but right now we need a striker who can make that difference, who does have an eye for goal and whose arrival at the club will give us that turbo charged boost to talk us across the line in the final ten matches of the season and a fecking great pot of £90M gold at the end of the rainbow. Personally, I think that Lambert does recognise this and I still believe he will come up with a trump card.
Are you suggesting we don''t score enough vital late goals? :S

  7. Problem is I don''t think there is the remotest of chance that we would get any of the players you have mentioned - if there was a chance then great but a deal would most likely have been done by now. None of the teams would want to let them players go and I don''t think any of them are so desperate for cash that they can''t wait until the summer.

Our only real chance is to find a proven goal scorer sat on a Premiership bench every week. But even those are hard to bring in unless you go for a promising youngster who is yet to be proven.

Even the lower league teams are not going to let go of what would most likely be their star player at this time of the year.

I''m sure if he could, Lambert would be bringing in a quality striker, but I doubt it is going to happen. But anyway, we still might just do it with the players we have. Perhaps Chrissy will come back from injury refreshed and put a few away?

  8. A ton of inflatable Canaries would be good too. Perhaps NCISA can arrange something? I bet they have some membership fees sat in the bank doing nothing. Why not invest it in an idea like this to help give us the best chance of back to back promotions? Imagine how the players would feel seeing the whole stadium right behind them - especially given that we don''t have many 3pm Saturday games left. This could really lift the atmosphere on some week nights and evening kickoffs.

  9. I think its pretty common for promoted teams to over perform. Luton did it not many years ago when coming up to the Championship. Blackpool did it at the start of this season too. That team spirit and winning habit can be hard to break and can make a big difference. But in the Premiership, its hard to sustain the results and the promoted teams inevitably go on a run of losses and start to lose morale and the mood changes to one of struggling for survival as it has now with Blackpool. When relegated, teams often under perform compared to expectations (middlesborough this year? Norwich after Prem season?) and that I believe is because the losing habit is hard to break too.

We had that losing habit when we dropped down to League 1 and look how we started that season. But in came an inspirational manager and that attitude quickly changed. Just a year and a half later we sit 2 points off automatic promotion to the Premier League. But are we over performing? Can we repeat this form next year if we fail to go up? Thats a tough question to answer.

Personally, I think that if we keep our manager and add more quality to our squad in the summer, we can continue in the same vein. But if we lost Lambert, is there anybody that would expect us to be top 6 next season? I doubt many would back us for it. If we lost Holt or Wes, could we still do it? I think that our squad is performing better than the sum of its parts, and is highly dependent upon some key parts, but rather than just being down to the morale boosting promotion, I think that in our case it is more down to the manager and the spirit he has built amongst the players. So if we can hold everything together I see no reason why we can''t go onwards and upwards next year.

  10. I''d say Blackpool, Stoke and Wigan would put up the least fight in the Championship next year. I doubt West Ham would lose all of their back bone. Its often surprising how many top players these teams manage to hold on to when relegated. Look at Portsmouth - they may not be doing so well but with the money problems they have had, they''ve still managed to keep some good players in their team. So I think Blackpool and Stoke because they are not established Premier clubs yet and are most likely to struggle, especially if they lose 1 or 2 of their star players upon relegation, then Wigan because appear to be the weakest Prem team at the moment.
