  1. All season when we are currently 13th, 7 points clear from the drop zone, which I''m sure we''d all have taken at this stage of the season if offered it at the start.

Problem is, instead of having mixed bag of results, we''ve been poor, decent, poor, which makes it seem worse. Had we got our points more evenly it wouldn''t have seemed so bad.

  2. I can''t quite believe what I''m reading.

Why is our academy in the dark ages? The 90 minute rule, which the club have gone on about for years. A large proportion of that for us is in the sea, which won''t be the case for Cambridge. That''s why we are disadvantaged.

The Cat 1 status means that goes out of the window and we can search nationally - like we did previously with people like Darren Eadie and Craig Bellamy. Our academy will no longer be in the dark ages and we can be as competitive as any other club.

Why would young players sign for Norwich instead of some of the big clubs? Probably a greater chance of making the first team, so better for their careers.

  3. Why the lapse in quality? I think the point Ruldolph is making is we have missed Ruddy and Holt (even Morison) and adding Johnson being missing against a physical West Ham side due to suspension didn''t help. When we have to bring players in who aren''t first choice we struggle

  4. I agree about Bennett, but personally feel it probably wouldn''t have made much difference, as it was the centre which was the key. Unless you''re suggesting Bennett should have been put in defensive midfield, which I expect you aren''t.

Same with Jackson. Look at West Ham''s defence, three of them were over 6 foot and one was only an inch under. By playing Hoolahan you can only have the one striker (I don''t think the diamond would have worked today - and is in my opinion less attacking than the 451) and when you haven''t got Holt or Morison I''d rather have the 6 foot Kane than the 5 foot 8 Jackson.

Garrido was an odd one, but maybe he thought he needed a break or Bennett''s increased height would be useful against West Ham.

  5. If we were at full strength we wouldn''t have lost in my opinion. West Ham had some injuries yes, but were able to field a vastly stronger team than us.

Whilst I rate Howson as a player, he just does not suit the role that is usually Johnson''s - and neither would David Fox. Likewise Kane (or even Jackson if he started) simply do not suit being the lone striker, particularly away from home.

People might argue that he should have changed formation, where you could then play Fox/Howson with Tettey and partner Kane with Jackson. Then you have to drop Hoolahan which I think would be a poor decision.

Therefore, all things considered, it was always going to be difficult today even without the contribution of Mark Clattenburg and we need to just accept it (not saying people aren''t) and move on. If anything, that we were a couple of poor decisions away from getting something despite being weakened is almost positive in a weird kind of way.

Let''s just hope Holt, Morrison and Johnson''s (along with Garrido not playing) enforced breaks do them good.

  6. Look no further than their second city rivals, Birmingham City.

When they won the League Cup they then got relegated, can''t prove the two were linked, but it probably had some influence.

I do agree, it''s sad people don''t appear to be too gutted that we are out of the cup. It would be great to win a cup, but the longer we stay in the Prem the more likely it''ll happen. If we stay up this year (which I think we will) once the new TV deal comes in combined with us being virtually debt free perhaps we can push a bit further then as the squad will be better.

  7. I think, after last season, Chris Hughton decided we needed to sort out the defence as it was pretty poor last season, and probably thought the team scored so many goals the attack would be ok, but it seems they aren''t quite as good as it seemed (no criticism, but they seem to be struggling now we are more organised as a team).

I think it''s right he focussed on the defence, mainly as it was so poor but also as it might help reduce the chance of ''second season syndrome'' as it''s so different to the Lambert years. Also, if you can keep a clean sheet you know you won''t lose.

I''m pretty sure, now the defence is sorted, the next place will be the attack, and as we''ll be debt free next season, if we stay up it could be quite exciting!
