1. At what point will it be when it is clear that we haven''t turned the corner?

The lack of tactical and coaching skill last season cost us a place in the Premiership this season. That naivety has been continued into the current season. Once again the team looks clueless as to how to play as a unit and as a result we have had a pathetic start. The lack of leadership and direction is a clear inditement on Worthington. If he stays we will not go up this year for the simple reason that the players can''t, or won''t, perform well for him.

  2.
I''m not saying the club need to sacky worthy, but changes are needed somewhere, new players, new coaches, just something. there is a real staleness about the place, players going through the motions...
Whilst I agree that something must change I disagree that the problem does not lie with W because it clearly does.

Yet another inept display with little skill or passion, this time from a a different line up. If the problem runs right through the Club, as it clearly does, and if changing the line up doesn''t help, as it clearly doesn''t, then W has to take responsibility.

Did you hear his post match interview? Mainly about "these things happen in football", "we must keep positive and look forwards" etc. Any one can come out with that drivel -no talk of what he is going to do to provide a solution, just blind optimism .

The players don''t particularly like W and that is becoming clear on the pitch - time for him to go!

  3.
go boil my head? haha k... anyway what i''m saying is true and you know it. Look, basically, worthy only made ashton sign today because he knew morrison deal had fallen through and had knew he had to ...
Worthington "made" Ashton sign? How did he do that then - hold a gun to his head?

I am not a Worthington fan, never have been, unlikely ever to be one - however, it is clear that the heirachy at the Club were concerned about other Clubs coming in for Deano, so they did the most sensible thing that they could and offerred him a new, improved contract. Thus, at a stroke, thay have sent out a message to any interested parties to forget trying to sign Deano because he is staying here. An astute bit of business I would say.

As for your comment - "Everyone knows that Norwich haven''t got lots of money to buy new players so why would we suddenley be able to buy a striker?" Where does that come from then? We have sold Helveg, Johnson and Francis and spent far less than the fees received. We have saved a considerable amount on wages for these players and the others that we have released. Right now we have both the capital, and the revenue, to sign at least a good CB and a good CM.

  4.
Don''t really see where the pressure thing comes into the equation. At the end of the day Deano is under contract here for another 3 years with an option for another year, we do not need to sell him th...
The pressure is if a decent Premier Club make an official bid of say £8 million plus and make it known that they have tabled the bid.

Deano, and his Uncle, would then know "officially" that he could play for a Club that had a chance of winning things, that may well be in Europe, and for whom he could earn 2 or 3 times the money that he earns with us. In such a scanario there is little doubt that Deano would talk to any such Club, either officially or unofficially, or through his Uncle. I would also suggest that if we were talking about a Northern Club, especially one from the North West, there would be a great attraction to Deano for him to move.

I guess it''s that pressure that is being referred to.

  5.
Everyone is giving it the old "We need a CM and a CB" lark. Well come on then smart alecs, NAME SOME NAMES. Available, and in budget. Not so easy now is it? You can be sure Worthy and the board kn...
It is not necessary to "quote" names of those players who may be available.  It is the job of the management team to identify the players that they want and then to make an offer that is acceptable both to the player so identified and to their existing Club.

Are you claiming that in the squads of the Premiership and lets say the top 2 divisions of the Football League that there are no midfielders who could be tempted to NCFC and no centrebacks who could improve the quality over what we already have? Furthermore. there is the whole of European Football to consider. Before we get the "European Players need time to adapt to English Football" excuse, it seems to work pretty good for Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and even Bolton etc etc.

Players don''t have to be "available" in order for a move to take place, it normally just takes the right offer. Due to the transfers out of the Club this season we have both the capital, and the revenue saved on high cost contracts, to make a move for the kind of player who would enhance the squad - particularly at CB and MF.

  6. Good post, IPYellow.

You have clearly stated many of the reasons why Worthington''s management should be questioned. A manager''s responsibility is to produce acceptable results, if he does not do so then he is accountable for that failure.

There are far too many issues on which Worthington has failed and he shows little or no evidence of improving in those areas.

As far as this season is concerned he is failing.  We cannot afford to wait until January to see how matters are then. If he has not turned matters around within the next 4 games he should go before it is too late. If he does turn matters around and we are within say 3 points of a top 2 place then he has done his job - no more, no less.

  7. There are two things that confuse me about one side of the argument in this and other similar threads -

    1) Why it is perceived that just because an individual is unhappy about certain sections of the overall Club they must be deemed to be a non-supporter?

    2) Why it is perceived that "getting behind the Club/Team" will right the wrongs that are there for all to see?

I deem myself a supporter of NCFC because they are the only team that I follow.  They are the only team that I invest any time and money in. I have consciously supported NCFC for near enough 50 years; I have invested money in the Club on 3 different occasions and in the past I have counted several of the players as personal friends. We currently support the Club, and an individual player, through 3 different income streams; one of my sons advises several of the current first team players on both a professional and personal level - as such I am party, at times, to more information than most supporters. I take umbrage when being accused of not being a supporter of the Club when I question some of the things that go on at the Club. I will always be a supporter of NCFC the Club/Team but I will not blindly acquiesce to some of the patent failings of the current management. The fact that I do so does not make me a non-supporter.

It is unrealistic to think that doing nothing other then blindly "getting behind the Club/Team" will correct the lack of tactical awareness; will address the way that certain players have been and are treated;will provide adequate cover at CB; will provide much needed quality in midfield; will ensure young players coming through the ranks etc etc. It should never be forgotten that in the long run the Club "belongs" to the supporters, and if they are unhappy about certain aspects of the Club then they should do everything within their power to bring their concerns to the forefront, and doing so does not make them non-supporters.
