I have just listened to the podcast with Pulis and it's great. Here is a link and play from about 10 mins:

DF has come from a background of having the best players at the top-end of a table. He has been great at twice getting us promotion.
However, a very different ethos is required when trying to survive in the PL with the disadvantage of not having the best players.Parking the bus is fine but you still need the team to believe they can score. Sargent is nowhere near good enough as support for Pukki.
-
Tzolis and Dowell are better players and would offer more support to Pukki.

-
Tzolis should be up front with Pukki as Tzolis scores goals and has better movement and skill than Sargent or Rashica.
We could park the bus with 2 banks of 4 (no wingers) and have Pukki and Tzolis up front to score on the break.
-
Paul Lambert used to make comments about Grant Holt's training sessions.
-
DF seems to put a lot of emphasis on how well players have done in training. The great managers didn't select players based upon how well they did in training. Some players are better playing in a proper match in front of a crowd.
-
It is weird that some people say sort-out the defense and then later change the team to sort the attack. There's no reason why you can't do both from the outset.
Sargent isn't good enough, just as Placheta and Wildschut were not good enough.
-
My concern is that DF is trying to match the opposition playing them at their own game. We are not as good at doing it.
I think if Tzolis had started instead of Sargent against Brighton and Burnley then we would would have had a great chance to win those matches. Pukki needs service, someone running off the ball to help create space for him. Tzolis great at that and can score goals.

Norwich is a cosmopolitan city and club.
-
Last season Burnley beat Liverpool, took 4 points against Everton, took 4 points against Arsenal.
-
Against Burnley we tried to play more like Burnley. Against Everton we tried to play more like Everton etc.
We need to find an effective way of our own.
There were some improvements against Burnley. I think we need Tzolis to add support to Pukki particularly on the break.
-
So far this season Nick Powell has started 7 matches and scored in 6 of them...
-
Before signing for us he was playing wide on the left protecting his left-back and getting the ball forwards early on the counter. Why don't we try that?
-
We were able to win a lot of possession and matches in the Championship as we had players that were technically better than the opposition.
We haven't got that advantage in the Premier League so we need to become a lot more effective at counter-attacking. 4-4-2 would help.
4-4-2 would also help us win the ball in a high press. The opposition wouldn't push wing-backs forwards.
Another consideration is that 2 banks of 4 can be good to reduce the opposition to long range shots.
As others have said, 4-4-2 would be similar to the 4-2-3-1 we had been playing so not a massive change required. Mainly it would be to protect our full-backs and help us on the counter attack.
-
How about we try it as 4-4-2 could suit us. The full-backs can then focus on defending. We would have wide players further forwards and 2 up front to aim for on the break.
-
Farke said 10 wins and 7 draws,
-
We have only 1 striker.
We haven't got any defensive midfielders.
We haven't got a left-back that can defend.
-
It was a clear penalty. Kabak was nowhere near the ball and he fouled the Everton player.
-
Given that Todd won't be playing I would start with:
Krul
Aarons Andrew Kabak Williams
Normann PLM
Sargent Dowell Tzolis
Pukki
-
Even the smallest PL clubs have amongst the highest playing budgets in the world and PL clubs have restricted squad sizes so it should be possible to afford some great players. Plus we have/had the money from Emi.
-
It seems that we can agree on these:
Krul
Aarons CB? CB? Williams
Normann DM?
Sargent Cantwell Tzolis
PukkiThen just a matter of:
A) PLM, Mclean or Sorensen as the other DM
B) Two of Omobamidele, Hanley, Gibson, Kabak as the CBs
-
Gilmour too weak and gets caught on wrong side of play. Would rather have 2 DM's to better protect the defense.

Perhaps Farke selects 3 in the middle because we don't have 2 defensive midfielders who are good enough for a 4.2-3-1?
Still a lot to do

Unfortunately, my post on 13th of July still seems accurate.
