We have always sold players considered irreplaceable such as Ron Davies, Kevin Reeves and Chris Sutton amongst others. Of course, lifr went on and new players became fan favourites.
our management model is self-sustainability. This requires selling our best players cor massive fees to finance the acquisition of new players and promising youngsters for development. Did the sale of Gordon and Lewis to be replaced by Gibson and Giannoulis weaken us? Not IMO and Emi will be replaced as well. When he moves on I say thank him for his three seasons with us, the pleasure we have had of watching such a gifted player wear the Y&G and to wish him well for the rest of his career.

Are you happy with that though? in another 20 years and we are still Champ/Bottom 3 EPL (or worse) would you look back in hindsight and say we should've took more risks?

If we spend the money NOW on players who can deliver NOW. Just for one season please, just forget this fcuking project and have a go at not getting relegated.

who though? on low to average wages by premier league standards. Buendia needed time when he signed.

Or being in a big city may be too distracting? Easier to focus on development in a smaller place like Norwich, and let's face it, it's hardly too far away from London if they want the lights.

Suppose we will see where norwich are in 5 years and that will decide if we made the most of these years in the EPL.

Just worth pointing out we were relegated with Buendia in our team last time.

We aren't good enough to stay up with only one excellent player, if we reinvest and spend 30 million on 3/4 players that keep us up then it might just be worth it... just.

maybe but Buendia wasnt mentally ready for the last time.

Infrastructure also includes training / preparation facilities, not just the stadium though. Don't forget that.

This is true but how attractive is living in Norfolk to young people? most young players would rather live in big cities pairs/london etc training ground wouldn't convince me to join a club.

Not completely, as don't forget that whilst gate receipts are not completely inconsiderable income streams, it would be a lot of expenditure for only a relatively small improvement in income over time. Spurs are a much more extreme example, obviously I'm not saying we're going to lash out nine figures or more for a new ground, but they've financially handicapped themselves to the point where they might have to sell Kane to reinforce other parts of the squad.

Facilities and youth on the other hand, you could readily argue they paid for themselves quickly when we took the fans bond for redoing the Nest and then Maddison, Godfrey and Lewis all got sold, not to mention became far more attractive for young talent (hence the likes of Riley, Coker and apparently Downes coming).

That's true, financially is it worth adding a tier to the city stand? short term obviously not. Long term plus image of the club to players and non supporters its worth it. Demand in tickets is to high for the amount of seats, which drives prices higher. From a fans perspective more seats would be nice. Youth is more profitable then infrastructure in the short to medium term but whilst norwich are doing it other clubs are getting bigger Wolves/West ham by getting more supporters committed and loyal by attendance.

Then investing in greatly improved training facilities and focusing heavily on youth and the academy is a very logical start of such a project. Especially when starting from a parlous financial situation. Investing more in the stadium makes more sense if we become pretty established in the Premier League. If we're fortunate, that's a few years down the line.

Get ourselves established as a club that will give youngsters a proper chance to develop, be very well trained in excellent facilities with a coach who will readily trust them, and the club will get a reputation as a, if not the place to go for ambitious youngsters. In fact, if Buendia is sold, we just did that for South American talent in a market that will become increasingly important post-Brexit as let's face it, they're hardly short of promising youngsters around there!

I agree on a number of things you've said but i disagree on stadium expansion. There is never a good time, with player sales and a loan it could be done. Long term it would be there forever, the demographic of norwich fans is getting older the need for extra seats is important now to get younger people use to going. If norwich fell out of the EPL interest amongst younger people who dont go to games is not there.

Its a shame you first joined to moan about our Prem relegation with a load of troll posts against people with left wing political views, then couldn't muster up the courage to post on here throughout the entire promotion season, even during lockdown!

    You're a troll at best.

After making no attempt to stay up last time, last seasons success in the worst championship ever (look at Barnsley etc) doesn't mean much to anyone who understands football.

Can't agree there. The old "top 26" quote is not a ceiling, but a floor. And Webber couldn't really be much clearer with the fans, quite frankly.

What about ticket distribution? taking away points etc. Norwich want to be self sustainable club but wont invest in stadium etc just makes you wonder how ambitious they are.

Considering he made it abundantly clear that prize money / transfer fees are not reflected in cashflows, and indeed that we've still had all the expenses of running a club in a pandemic with fewer income streams coming in (particularly the fans), then we're certainly not going to be loaded.

This is still a club that, despite a lot of work behind the scenes to lower a wage bill initially, and also to renovate tired training facilities, has paid out a fair bit in bonuses / increased wages / loan fees / transfer fees. There's a popular misconception going around that getting promotion to the Premier League turns a club into a wealthy one at a stroke.

We can't compete in many bidding wars yet. By definition, we need to be smarter. Got to say, we have done it well under this current structure. Even when deals didn't work out well (Roberts, Amadou, Duda), we haven't taken too big a financial hit.

Norwich are well run, webber and co have done good job but there putting a glass ceiling on the club in my opinion. Not being 100% honest with the fans i dont think.

F*ck of back to TWTD and enjoy another season in the third tier of English football with a tree growing out of one of your stands whilst reassuring Fleetwood fans that you used to be relevant at some point in history.

Premier league is terrible now everyone knows it VAR, diving, politics etc rather be in lower league.
