Chris, do you not think that the reason Brennan looks so bad some of the time is because he''s left so exposed by Huckerbys inability to track back?
Also, I think people should give Henderson a break, yeah he made some mistakes, but at least he was willing to get involved and have a go. Personally I thought he played quite well.
By all means have a go at the manager, but give the players some support. If the fans are on their back everytime they make a mistake then all they''ll do is sit back and shy away from the ball.

CanaryYellow, they say that patience is a virtue, something a lot of people on this board don''t have!
However, that first half yesterday was appalling and I cannot remember seeing such a comedy performance from Norwich and think people have a right to be impatient after that display.
Personally I think it''s going to be like this all season. When everyone is fit we''ll be a force to be reckoned with, but it''s only going to happen a handful of times due to the paper thin squad and the number of injuries we''re getting. The rest of the time it''s we''re going to be somewhere between indifferent and awful.
Whether a new manager would do any better is the question. Some form of shake up is definitely required though.
Lets hope that the players pay us back with a good performance on Saturday. Although if it all goes horribly wrong again I won''t have far to travel to get home this time!!

CanaryYellow, if you read my post you will see that I was at the game last night and posted my reply at 10:45pm yesterday evening.....

I''ve been pro worthy all season. Until now that is, I''ve just got back from the game and what a shambles the first half was!
Admittedely we could''ve scored 3 in the first half, but the defending was shocking and Greeno''s mistake was, well to be honest so bad it was hilarious!
When we came out for the 2nd half we were much, much better and could''ve scored more than 2.
What I want to know is why can''t Worthy get the team playing like that from the start? Why do we only start playing well when we''re losing?
A new manager with a fresh approach is what we need I think.
Btw, Jarvis played well when he came on and Henderson looked quite good in spells. IMO both should be given a chance. -
Worthy''s substitution of Brennan was spot on, he was running around like a headless chicken during the first half. How he could go from looking so good to look so bad in such a short space of time is beyond me.
As for Shackell coming off, him and Drury did not gel at all, you would''ve thought that they''d never played together before.
I must admit I nearly left at half time it was that bad and probably would''ve done had the shot that cannoned off the inside of the post gone in as well!
That said the 2nd half was much, much better and the response from the fans was amazing. The 12th man almost did it again!
However, I''m starting to wonder what the hell is going on behind the scenes, my faith in Worthy is the lowest that it''s ever been.

I bought a digitial radio recently so that I could listen to Radio 5 on the train from London to Norwich on match days. It works perfectly apart from when the train goes through Ipswich! Typical!
But you can only pick up Radio Norfolk when you''re actually in Norfolk!

Transfer request from Greeno coming up me thinks.
Absolutely disgraceful from Sven, Kirkland has got paper limbs, how he''s queue jumped Greeno is anyones guess. -
I guarantee that people will still moan even if we manage to beat Plymouth 6-0, probably for reasons such as:
a). it was Flemings fault that we didn''t score a 7th
b). what the hell was Worthy thinking when he replaced Ashton with Doherty after 70 minutes even though we were winning 5-0 at the time and Ashton looked like he needed a rest
c). just who do those fans who left after 87 minutes think they are? Not loyal supporters that''s for sure
d). is Jarrett the worst signing ever despite the fact that he set-up 4 of the goals?
e). why isn''t the rest of the ground as noisy as the Snake Pit/Barclay Lower?
f). what was going on with the halftime pies? Curried Vegetable? You''re having a laugh. Delia sort it out
-
With your constant changes of opinion are you sure you haven''t been on the magic mushrooms? -
Good post, I agree that sacking Worthy now would be too much of a knee jerk reaction.
In a freaky kind of way this poor start is almost (and I say almost very reluctantly) a good thing as it''s made us realise that it was never going to be a stroll in the park regaining Premiership status and it now means that Worthy has got 2 weeks to try and seriously address the problems that:
a). got us relegated from the Prem
b). have caused us to have such a shocking start to this season
If we''d got off to a brilliant start and were in the top three, yes it''d be great, but the fundamental problems would still exist, i.e. weak midfield and leaky defence. Surely even Worthy can''t deny this now.
If in a months time we''ve still not won a game and have been humbled at Portman Road then I think Worthy''s position will be untenable.
Until then, we give him the chance to sort this mess out.

With insight like that a career as a Match of the Day pundit beckons.... -
I see. In that case I hope that Ashton is there and commits his immediate future to Norwich, at least that would put and end to this constant speculation!
-
Pete, so are you saying that we''ve signed someone?!
-
I''m hoping that this bid for Morrison was a smokescreen to:
- spur on the rest of the strikers to pull their socks up (worked wonders on Tuesday night don''t you think!)
- to allow Worthy to work behind the scenes to bring in two great, unexpected signings
Watch this space.....

I''ve just read the article again.
I even checked the first letter of every sentence to see if it spelt out a secret message saying that ''A-S-H-T-O-N-H-A-S-G-O-N-E''.
Even though I wouldn''t be surprised if Ashton does go before the close of the transfer window, I don''t think this article really tells us anything we don''t already know.
It seems he will only go if he asks to leave and he has gone on record as saying he doesn''t want to.
That said, put yourself in Ashton''s position:
- chance to earn ludicrous amounts of cash at another club
- who are playing Premiership football
- who are based in the North West where all your family/mates liveIf he decides that this is what he wants, then fair play, I think most of us would do the same.
He does seem like a decent bloke though, so I''m hoping that he decides to stick with us till January and then see what gives.
Deano, if you read these message boards give us a sign!!
-
Alex, I probably didn''t see that as at that point my head was buried firmly in my hands in total despair!
-
Fleming certainly shouldn''t be captain, I went to match last night (no idea why as it was truly awful) and due to the lack of noise coming from our end I was able to hear the players shout instructions and advice at each other.
Numerous times Greeno was hollering at the back four to push up, every time they just ignored him and drifted back towards our goal.
Charlton also was very involved in shouting out instructions, on a couple of occasions I heard him telling Colin where to position himself.
But what was Fleming doing? Absolutely nothing. He was totally silent! Maybe Greeno should be captain?
Other points from the game:
- Safri was our best player by a mile
- Leon tried his heart out and deserved the goal, his confidence seems really low
- We looked very poor at times due to not having without Hucks
- Brennan was really frustrating at times, he seems to have the ability, but lacked the confidence
- At times we were passing the ball for fun but couldn''t turn it into anything constructive
- Jarrett looked much better when he came on than in his recent performancesBasically I think the team is devoid of confidence and seems insecure with the constant speculation about Ashton leaving (which I don''t think he will) and hopefully this win will spur them on this Saturday, but I do fear for us if Hucks/Ashton are out injured as Leeds seem on a bit of a roll.

His actual quote was:
"Put it this way, it''s far easier to stay in the Premier League than it is to win this league"
-
I was going to avoid the forum this week as I thought that it''d be totally full of ''worthy out'' type conversation threads, but from the most unlikely source imaginable I find some positive comments!
Nice one Wiz, I totally agree with what you say!
If we''d been losing games 2 or 3-0 without creating any chances I''d be very worried, but we only lost yesterday due refereeing ineptitude and yet more direct hits on the woodwork. Also Crewe and Palace should''ve conceeded a lot more than the solitary goal we put past them.
If things had been going our way we''d be sitting here with 8 points.
Also, last season after 6 games on 31st August, Sunderland were on 5 points having won once, drawn twice and lost three and were 9 points behind Wigan! And the season we won league, after 5 games on 31st August we were on 7 points having already lost two games.
Basically, what I''m trying to say that it''s a marathon not a sprint! -
Maybe Deano can''t go till January due to contract restrictions.
Maybe we''ve already agreed a fee with someone that means Deano goes in the January transfer window.
Maybe we''ve bought Morrison to give him to settle before Deano''s departure using the cash we''ll get in January.
Maybe this is a load of b*llocks! -
If Deano is off, at least he''s making the most of Norwich before he goes, I have it on good authority that last night he was out on a date with an attractive young woman who had bleached white hair.
Good on you Deano...get in there my son!
-
Don''t be so ridiculous Splendid Rush.
There is no way that Worthy would play Charlton ahead of Fleming......
-
What makes you say that Yella?
I hope you''re right!
Thinking about it, signing Morrison will send the right signals to Deano that Norwich really are serious about going straight back up.
-
Two ways of looking at this:
1. Worthy and the board are really going to go for promotion with Deano and Morrison up front leaving McKenzie and Thorne as backups.
2. Deano is off
I just hope that it''s option number 1!!
