We''re in good shape. I''ve read some of Rudolph Huckers'' posts in the past and thought they were written well with some strong points, but this is just a bit stupid, to be honest. We oversold Snodgrass. A £5-6m player at best. He can''t cross, take corners or beat players. £8m for that, I''d say, is pretty damn good!Your other points - well, as someone else said, at least we''re not Blackpool. I think they''ll be relegated this season. The signs are there. They came close last season too. Also, yes McNally did get lucky with Lambert. What''s the harm in that though? At least we got lucky with someone. Burnley got lucky with Dyche. So what. Yes, we held onto Hughton too long. Most knew it. Few thought things would be ok, just because they didn''t want to appear negative (*clears throat - MORTY).As for us, I think we are going to spend a few seasons in the Championship now. That''s not me being negative, nor do I have a problem with that, as going for promotion tends to be more exciting than trying to get to 40 points in the Premier League. I was underwhelmed by Neil Adams'' appointment but the alternatives seemed to realistically be Malky or Zola and look where they are now. No-bloody-where.It''s not Neil fault, or McNally''s, that two teams have pulled out of a game with us. What can you do. Don''t forget, pre-season has no bearing on what''s to come during the season. Just ask Bryan Gunn... -
I agree with Morty, strangely enough. Same with Hughton. Didn''t strike me as an ambitious man, which reflected in our performances and results. Think he would''ve happily stayed here for years and years.Same with Neil. Doesn''t strike me as ambitious. Just happy to be a first team manager of a decent club. My guess is that the next few years will be average ones in the Championship before we make a change and get promoted again.Like Morty, I''d be delighted to be proved wrong. -
I actually think he''d stay here. If he does well, it could be his job for 5-10 years. If he doesn''t, it could be his job for 5-10 weeks. -
Agree. More important to keep than Hooper. -
Germany deserved it but here''s where I think our problems lie, sorry if they''ve been mentioned before.- Lallana''s £25m price tag, Andy Carroll''s £35m & £17m price tags, Jordan Henderson''s £20m price tag etc etc etc represent a big problem for English football. English players are sold well above their actual value. Sanchez cost Arsenal £28m, Lallana cost Liverpool £25m. Lallana is a £15m player at the absolute, extreme most. Shaw to United for £30m?? Really?? United are paying for both potential and compensating Southampton for the development of Shaw but that''s still just silly money.- The Premier League likes to brag that it''s the best in the world. The reason for this is because if the foreign imports. It''s apparently much more important to have the best league rather than the best national team. Clearly because there''s more money to be had by having the world''s best league.- Tied in with the above. Not enough english players are playing top level football. They are losing their places to foreign imports. Think Sturridge before he was saved by Liverpool. He could''ve easily fallen by the wayside.- Germany had 5 or 6 players in their team last night that beat England in the Under 21 Euro Championship 5 years ago. I don''t think England had any of the players from that team playing in this world cup.- Old boys club at the FA. Still think this is a big problem. I don''t think Hodgson helps this situation. I think we need younger, more dynamic people involved, as opposed to the old guard who have done us next to no good at all. 48 years without a world cup is embarrassing. -
I think we have to trust him. The way I look at this summer is, I''ve largely switched off from Norwich matters. Last season was quite exhausting. I don''t have a particular interest in who we sell, who we sign or what our backroom staff looks like. I can''t be bothered to get up in arms about such things. I''ll start paying attention again around a week before our season kicks off. -
If we paid £10m for Rhodes I''d be happy, could even stretch to £11m. The man is a goal machine and the worst thing he did was sign for Blackburn Rovers who will price him out of any move. He should''ve held out for a Premier League club. -
I don''t think this is true. I think Malky was offered the job, but not Zola. -
I don''t think so. Poor player. Can''t pass forwards or sidewards, always back. And United fans complain about Carrick... -
…As part of the Wilson deal... -
@ Bethnal - I don''t have a negative mind or agenda at all. It''s just how I see it. I don''t think we will go straight back up either, but I don''t see that as me being negative. I''m actually very excited for the new season. The Premier League can become very boring. -
If Wilson picks Bournemouth, I don''t think it would be so much him picking them over us, but Howe over Adams. -
I''d be delighted if Tettey left the club. -
Nah I don''t think Morty''s point is necessarily true. He wants out. For sure. -
Suppose with the Callum Wilson news, the Hooper stuff becomes ever more possible. -
I agree, but that''s the harsh part of relegation. The true damage of relegation (and the clubs actions last season) will only hit home when players like Hooper and Ruddy leave the club.I think we will lose Fer, Olsson, Ruddy and Hooper. Part of the reason why I think we won''t bounce back to the PL for a few years yet. -
I think he may start the season with us, but by the 1st September 2014, he''ll be playing for someone else. -
Clearly not, but if someone offered £6.5m for Hooper and he wants to go, I say let him go, Never got the impression he really wanted to be here in the first place, thinking back to the Press conference after he signed for us. -
He is if Premier League teams want him. -
RvW being given the number 20 shirt says to me that we''re trying to offload him, but that''s probably been said on another thread.I hope we keep Hooper too but player power usually wins through if the desire to leave is strong enough. -
It was definitely Mulbarton. She moved up to the Midlands with him apparently. At least Norwich gave Lambert love, if nothing else. -
My source was also responsible for telling me that Paul Lambert had a girlfriend in Mulbarton during his time at Norwich. Naturally, I wasn''t sure whether to believe this, but apparently it was actually true. People in the area regularly saw his Maserati parked outside her house. -
Appreciate those who understand why sources can''t be named. My source is just someone I know, who happens to be in the know. When certain people are ''in the know'', they like to brag and tell you what they know. It helps them feel important I suppose. Bit like what I''m doing here haha. This man is the same person who told me the club were going to sack Chris Hughton at the end of last season, however we finished the campaign. Obviously, we all know that results meant the club sacked him much earlier, but the board later revealed (on Radio Norfolk) that they would''ve sacked Hughton at the end of the season even if we''d stayed up.Anyway, that sounds like me trying to prove myself and I don''t need to do that. -
Have it on (very very very) good authority that Gary Hooper is "desperate" to leave Norwich. It''s a stand off between him and the club. The club have told him they don''t want to sell him, nor do they have to sell him. Hooper is wanted by Villa, QPR and West Brom.Just passing on what I''ve been told by a very well placed source, who I can''t name (convenient), so don''t shoot the messenger.
Is our CEO a busted flush?
