sadly, yes, i suspect we are dead in the water now. a point against Fulham and we could have made it across the line. I think now we are in a battle to even finish only 3rd from bottom.I am incredibly frustrated because we have had so many opportunities this season and just thrown them away.I''m just holding my breath for a miracle because i refuse to give up hope until we are mathematically down. -
Its that old cliche, the first goal will be so important! If we concede first, after say 5 or 10 mins, i think our head will drop and we will lose 3-0. But if we can keep it tight and restrict fulhams chances then who knows, maybe we could even nick all three. I''m hoping for a west brom (a) performance rather than a west brom (h)! -
I suspect the damage has already been done and that we will go down, but you know what? After resigning myself to the fact that my girlfriend is going to see me crying for the first time and we have championship football to look forward to next season, McNally has given me hope all over again. Come on Neil! Come on you yellows! Its not over yet! -
This is a terrible admission, i panicked for a second because I had completely forgotten about Garrido. He was good last season, and wasn''t it his cross that pilks nodded in against Man Utd? -
I’m, obviously, still very worried, but today I’m excited about our chances. I must be honest, I was an inner until the last few weeks. I have made his apologies and excuses, and I still feel he had a shot at getting the points we needed. But, lets face it, we probably would have lost to Fulham, got smashed by liverpool, man utd and chelsea and then, confidence in tatters, blown it in a nervy tie against arsenal leaving us relegated without a fight. It is clear that we needed a change. Our lack of desire, and consistency, have been a major worry. And lets not even talk about the ‘strikers’.But the big thing for me was that Hughton completely lost the crowd on Saturday. Whilst I don’t condone the Hughton out chanting, or angry scenes and clappers being thrown at the pitch, it clearly showed that the discontent among supporters was no longer restricted to the minority. The board know how important it is for a united support for these crucial last 5 games and that is, in my opinion, one of the reasons why they’ve acted. My obvious concern is that this is another Bryan Gunn moment. Or an Alan Shearer. What is clear is that we cannot afford to lose to Fulham, and we need a win from somewhere. The ‘New Manager Syndrome’ of other teams always seems to kick us, so maybe this could be our chance to benefit from it for once.My secondary concern is that I’m left wondering if perhaps Hughton’s safety first habit would actually have been a good thing for us considering our last 4 games. Adams has already said that he will be looking to address our lack of goals, but perhaps now is not the time to be experimenting with a more progressive approach.I find the rumour of a ‘senior player’ suggesting Hughton’s criticisms creating a ‘fear of mistakes’ which in turn stifled creativity very interesting. I can truly understand that. Maybe Adams will allow a little more flexibility within his system, giving the players a chance to express themselves, and hopefully, perform at their best. Because at the moment we lack the spirit for the fight, and we need it back. Immediately. I am certain that a change was needed, perhaps earlier would have been better, but we have it now. Its what the majority of us ended up wanting, and we have to ensure we get being Adams and the lads 100% for the rest of the season.I always liked Neil as a player, and I was delighted with his success in the FA Youth Cup last year. I hope he will be just the shot in the arm that we need. I desperately want him to be a success, and for the summer to arrive with us reflecting on another masterstroke from McNally.Hello Neeyul, bring on Fulham (a)! -
If we beat West Brom and dont lose to Fulham we will be fine. easy, right?!I also think we may get a point out of our last 4 games. given our away form it''ll have to be against liverpool or arsenal. arsenal dont have suarez so my 20p will be going on a draw with them.for me its a fight between palace, sunderland, WBA and us for the 3rd relegation spot, and i think that 36 pts will be enough to survive. 35, given our goal difference would be cutting it fine.lets hope for a fighting performance this weekend because we were woeful on saturday. -
yeah, for me we need to beat stoke, sunderland and west brom at home. Then we need at least 1 or 2 points out of southampton, swansea and/or fulham. It really is all a little too close for comfort now. So far this season, when the pressures on, Chrissy H has got the result he needed. But I just wonder how long his luck will hold. If we dont win tomorrow then i think we are really going to struggle to stay up. -
i would likeruddymartinyobobassongolssonsnodgrasstetteyhowson redmondwessihoopsbut i suspect we''ll end up with johno will make the cut instead of wessi.also, i''m still a bit annoyed at wes.i really wish we had fer for this crucial set of 5 games. I''m really starting to think that anything except a victory against stoke and we will be going down. time is running out for Chrissy H to pull it out the hat! -
MisterCarrow I love your optimism, and I really hope you''re right!!i thinkstoke 1-1southampton 2-0sunderland 1-1swansea 3-1WBA 2-1Fulham 2-15 points, and not enough to keep us up. -
Mine would have to be:1. Grant Holt2. Grant Holt3. Grant Holt4. Grant Holt5. Grant Holt(seriously though, Holty, Eadie, Sutton, Hucks, Iwan.) -
I hope this is not true.Says Fer is out for 6-10 weeks with a hamstring injury.http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2014/02/27/4650492/-? -
and he even got andy carrol to score. what a manager! -
I still can''t believe he took off hoops and redmond when those two were by far our best attacking threat. To me, it suggests he was content with a 0-0 draw and was trying to shut up shop. I thought we created more clear cut chances in that game than i''d seen for a long time, and i''m still struggling to come to terms with the 2-0 defeat, and its consequences for our final league position.I think perhaps Hoots has taken us as far as he can.I''m going to cry like a baby when we go down in May. -
I always feel more confident when merse and lawro both predict us to lose. its amazing how often we then go on to get something out of the game. Its when they start predicting us to win that we have a problem. perhaps the boys can''t cope with all that pressure... -
Don''t panic lads, it''s gonna be ok!Last night I had a dream that we won 2-1. Hoops scored a late penalty for us, even if the keeper did get a touch as he blasted it done the middle.Must be a premonition, right?! -
a bit underwhelmed, considering our last few januarys have brought us player like Bennet and howson. And in fairness, Becchio had been banging them in for Leeds when we signed him.The real problem we face is that Leeds have no more good players. How are we supposed to progress now? -
I love David Fox. But he was very poor last night. I suspect that may very well have been his last game in a city shirt. -
its official, holt plays for villa.i feel a bit sad and a bit angry. I wonder if he will be awesome again? -
Ha, check out this lovely piece of journalism from sky!http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/9114209/premier-league-norwich-close-on-newcastles-jonas-gutierrezHopefully Jonas will improve our ''promotion hopes'', eh!! -
I think that Jonas will probably end up proving himself as a steady signing. clearly a sign of that the board are behind Hughton, and a sign that Hughton recognizes that we need to improve the service to Ricky and Hoops. -
Its sad to say, but i''ve been worried about us since October. Its going to be a difficult season, but I agree that the points total to survive will probably be ~36. We just need to taking maximum points from the teams around and below us. Hopefully Hoops and Leroy can do enough to keep us up.I noticed this morning that Ipswich are in the play-off spots. it would be a horrible thing to ''pass on the stairs''! -
I was under the impression that RVW was bought using last years budget. so, if that is true, then we only spent ~£15m in the summer, so i would put my complete stab in that dark guess at £10-15m avaliable in january. Our biggest problem now will be convincing players to sign for us. In the summer we had the promise of a ''great season and a potential top half finish'' to help us entice prospective targets, but now we have a relegation fight on our hands. -
harry redknapp would definitely do it!! -
Shaun Carey. Just because I could.
My almost completely positive reflection on the final 4 games.
