1.
Good grief, are people still going on about trolling?  That is a fallback position for people who aren''t winning an argument. This stuff is not hard to understand.  Rudd is a young, talented, technically very good goalkeeper - no-one questions that.No one can question he is roughly the same age as De Gea.No one can question that De Gea has more experiemce than Rudd. So there you have it.  Two super goalkeepers playing at the top level of the game, the main difference is that at the same age De Gea has more experience.  Can anyone seriously question any of that? I don''t think so....unless your trolling......
So you''re now basically making a different point to the one we were debating yesterday. This is classic LDC, makes a point, it gets rumbled, tries to argue something different.

  2. That 10% (for argument''s sake) is an enormous difference at Premiership Level. If we say that Rudd is ranked between 15th-20th in terms of Premier League keepers and that De Gea is in the top 4.

That doesn''t seem much but when you look at that on a worldwide scale, then De Gea will still easily be regarded as being one of the top 5 goalkeepers in the world. Where on a worldwide scale does Declan Rudd sit in comparison - he''d be a very long way down. That demonstrates the gulf in technical ability.

I don''t want anyone to think this a thread slating Rudd. He''s got the potential to be a good goalkeeper for Norwich. But to say he has the similar level of technical ability to De Gea is silly.

  3. I understand you completely Lakey. It''s just rubbish I''m afraid.

Let''s run with this argument for the time being and call Rudd one of the top 20 goalkeepers in the country. There is still a massive difference in ability between Rudd at the lower end of that scale and a world class performer like David De Gea - subject to a multi million bid from Real Madrid.

In the same way, that there is a massive gulf in ability between Sebastian Bassong and say Vincent Kompany at the world class end of that scale for central defenders in this league.

Just look at the tennis analogy that was used earlier in this thread. You can be in the top 20 in the world but you''re still light years away from competing with the likes of Murray, Federer, Djokovic and Nadal (when he was actually good).

The principle is very similar here and it explains why Norwich will finish many points and places behind Man Utd this season. They have many better technical players than us of which De Gea is one. That is reflected in our league positioning.

Is that really that hard to comprehend?

  4. Totally different players I would venture to argue Kick it Off.

Whilst, he has played out on the wing in his career, Wes has never really looked at home there. He''s always been best when deployed in a central role. He''s never been reliant on his pace and therefore he''s actually matured and improved with age as his understanding of how to harness his fantastic close control and vision has improved.

Jarvis has always relied more on his speed, looking to either cut in off the flank or go past his full back on the outside as well. I think he''s less likely to have the longevity at a higher level that Wes will have as a result.

However, I still think this would be an excellent deal for us - just not on a 4 1/2 year deal. That''s madness.

  5. Blimey, you actually are loopy.

He isn''t as good technically as De Gea. That''s why De Gea has full international caps for Spain, has won titles with Man Utd and will be signed by Real Madrid in the summer. In comparison, Rudd, whilst talented has not played any higher than League One level before this season.

You can say Rudd has been unlucky to date but if you are exceptional then you will break through at a young age. In the way De Gea, Joe Hart and Fraser Forster all did at very young ages.

Rudd is very good but he''s not in that category hence he''s had to bide his time more. If he was, then he''d have dislodged Ruddy much sooner than he has. Particularly when Ruddy was injured under Hughton.

Comparing them in a one off game at Old Trafford is absolutely daft. On the day, Rudd, as indeed did Norwich performed better than De Gea and Man Utd. Rudd had a decent afternoon but apart from making one decent save was not actually required to do much. In comparison, De Gea probably should have saved Jerome''s goal.

However, despite Norwich and Rudd winning on the day, Man Utd have vastly superior technical players to us - of which De Gea is one. This is proved by the fact they will finish many points/places above us.

I''m amazed you can even try to argue any of this. If a fan from another team read your opinions they would literally p*** themselves with laughter. In fact, I''ve actually shown them to mates at work who support other teams and they do.

  6. I''d like to sign him permanently. He gives us a good option either from the start or from the bench. The pessimist in me also thinks that if the vultures start circling for Brady then he''d be a pretty decent replacement.

My only concern would be the length of contract. A 4 1/2 year deal would make him 34 by the time it expires. That''s slightly concerning as we''ve may have long seen the best of him by then.

  7.

But you weren''t comparing them, knobcheese.
Answer the question!
Applying that logic Chelsea lost 1-0 to Bournemouth a couple weeks back. Does that make Courtois a worse goalkeeper than Boruc? You really are a moron.

  8. Charlie Austin is not going to come to Norwich (in January or the summer). He''ll be out of contract at the end of the season and he''ll be able to move to practically any club outside the top 6 (possibly even one in the top 6 if they need a squad player) that he wants.

Because those clubs won''t have to pay a transfer fee for him, he''ll pocket a big signing on fee and the wages to match. That simply isn''t something that Norwich City can afford and we wont be able to compete with many of the bigger teams in this league.

Afobe hasn''t done too badly at all this season. In the early part of the season he was asked to play as a number 10 and adapt his game for the good of the team. He''s only recently moved back up front and he''s playing in a Wolves side that has been very poor this season and hit with injuries to key players like Dicko.

Given all of that, to score 10 goals in 24 games this season isn''t a bad effort. Is he worth £12 million? I think that''s personally far too much and we shouldn''t be held to ransom, particularly when Wolves aren''t going to be threatening the promotion picture themselves this season.

  9. The first thing to say is that the players are allowed a social life outside of football.

So, there''s no need to slaughter Ruddy for going out. I don''t actually think it does their performance any good if they''re couped up at home all the time obsessing over football. It''s not healthy and they need to switch off to stay fresh and energised.

Secondly, as others have said. We don''t know exactly what has gone on, save for what is in the Sun article and we don''t know the nature of what was said by either person. That video footage doesn''t appear to tell us a great deal either to be honest.

The club will know what has gone on and I am confident that they will deal with it appropriately (if needed) as they did with Lewis Grabban. If anyone else, externally needs to get involved then they will.

Let''s remember for all his shaky form lately Ruddy has done very well for this club and he''s been terrific value for money. So let''s see how this one pans out before absolutely crucifying him and hanging him out to dry.

That being said, I am sure he''s had a very awkward conversation with Alex Neil this morning and has probably cemented Declan Rudd''s place in the side for the foreseeable future - something which Rudd was doing a pretty fine job of himself before this happened.

  10. Sack the manager? I assumed it was a silly poster, then saw it was Yorkshire, who''s very sensible and was disappointed.

It''s not his fault that we''re in this mess. The club have let him down by not getting the players he needed to make us more competitive at this level. How the hell are you meant to bridge the gap between the Championship and Premier League with a total net spend of £3 million in transfer fees?

Lets be honest, he performed a miracle getting us back up last year and it''s just as well he did, because we''d absolutely shafted he hadn''t. It would be a greater miracle still if we survived because our football budget must easily sit in 20th place in this division.

Sacking him would just be utterly crazy and I cant believe it is even being mooted. He should be here whatever happens next season. He''s doing brilliantly but even the best poker player in the world can only do so much if he''s dealt consistently shoddy hands.

  11. We''ve let a few games get away from us this season.

The ones that really stick in my head are West Ham, we should have been professional enough to see that out and weren''t.

Stoke we also should have been out of sight and whilst Butland was top drawer some better finishing wins us that''s game.

Palace is also a bit of unknown quantity. Had that goal rightly stood then who knows what would have happened at 2-2?

But you''ve also got to be even handed and say we were very fortunate to draw with Everton. If Lukaku had brought his shooting boots in thr first half it could have been 4-0 to Everton and the game gone

  12. Please, not this ridiculous thread again.

Basically in summary and none of this has changed from earlier posts:

    - I have said Rudd is a good goalkeeper.

    - I have said I wouldn''t (and don''t) begrudge him his chance based on Ruddy''s form and his League Cup showings, which he''s now translating into League form.

-You made an initial comparison between the two because they look similar, which is just odd.

-You then claimed they have a similar level of technical ability and that just appears Rudd''s mental game isn''t as good.

-This then got shoehorned into you saying he can be our De Gea.

The fact Rudd is playing well in no way validates the arguments put forward in this thread. Most posters have said Rudd is a good goalkeeper and that he deserves a chance - which he''s getting. Now please just let this thread die.

  13. Afobe would be a gamble, but you simply don''t know until they step up to the Premier League how a player will cope. Ighalo got 20 goals at Championship Level last season as did Jerome. Ighalo is absolutely flying this season whilst Jerome has struggled in front of goal.

The problem we have now is that despite a decent result yesterday, with Bournemouth winning our position looks increasingly perilous. Is Afobe going to join Norwich if he feels that''s he just potentially going to be back in the same league as Wolves in 6 months?

With Dicko also out injured long term are they going to let their main striker and main source of goals leave the club? They''d be left with Le Fondre and Holty if he went, which wouldn''t inspire confidence if I were a Wolves fan.

Doesn''t seem likely to me unless it''s for the crazy £14 million they quoted in the summer, and there is no way we should pay that price. That''s just simply too much for a Championship player.

  14. I must admit, I don''t really know what the reasons are behind no live tweeting etc of an event like that. But the club don''t have to assist with these events as they do have the potential to be somewhat troublesome, so we have to respect those wishes.

However, from a purely selfish point of view I am going to an event like that to enjoy it and I doubt I would if I was chained to my phone, typing in everything that was said. I think I got most of the key points from the other day and as Nutty said there was also criticism of Keily for Ruddy''s poor form of late, which Keily took well and in his stride.

I''d imagine like everything they do, Neil and his staff had prepared for most of these questions and answered accordingly.

  15. I completely agree about the need to diversify and have as many potential revenue streams open to you as possible. But (and without wishing to turn this into a ground expansion thread) is ground expansion really an answer for Norwich City?

In an ideal world we''d have a capacity of about 30,000 but any greater and we''d really struggle to fill the ground, particularly in the event of us dropping down to the Championship. I think one of our strengths at the moment is that people feel they can''t afford to give up season ticket as it would be a long time before they got them back again.

That pull factor potentially diminishes in a bigger ground where people have more of an option to pick and choose their matches.

  16. I guess some of it depends on what kind of income and revenues he''s generated from his business ventures that might have offset some of those losses. He''s not going to have been stagnant and made no money in the last 5 years or so. Perhaps, some of that has gone to cover losses and shortfalls.

Putting a Norwich slant on this, looking at their playing squad, Bolton have got one player I do admire and that is a guy called Zach Clough. He''s a talented young forward, who could particularly excel in that No.10 role one day. I wouldn''t mind trying to burgle a deal for him at some point, but I am sure bigger clubs will also be watching on with interest.

  17. Nutty, I can easily believe he has done to be honest. He''s been chairman since 2003.

Last season they lost £8.1 million and I think I''m right in saying that the year before they lost around £50 million or so. So cumulatively over the years I reckon you can arrive at that figure of £173 million quite easily.

Those losses have to be financed somehow and I do believe that Davies has been stumping up the cash prior to this. Idiotic perhaps, but ultimately in relative terms I spend a significant amount of my (admittedly very modest) earnings following Norwich City home and away. I suppose in many ways that''s equally idiotic but it''s what I enjoy doing in my spare time.

How the hell Davies and Phil Gartside have manufactured a situation in which they''ve lost £50 million in one season is an entirely different question altogether and one I wouldn''t know the answer to either
