1.
Hi Bristol Nest and Budgie

Bristol Nest..... "a regional hypermarket will bring more people into the area"..... don''t know whether you cross the Downs and the river into Bedminster and Southville very often but these are thriving areas full of small businesses which do not need the presence of a major retailer such as Sainsbury, if the store was built there the area would end up like Westbury on Trym!

Budgie...yes it is the derelict area on the left hand side of Bristol Temple Meads if you are arriving on a London train.

Bristol Nest........it is surprising how many of us have ended up here...last season for the Leeds away match on Sky about 20 city supporters gathered in the Roo Bar in Clifton.

Cross the river to the deep dark south? never! apart from going to see shakespeare at the tobacco factory of course!

ps Is there a bristol canary group?

  2. I had no idea that there are so many ex pats in bristol.

I know one of the campaigners against this who lives in the suburb (who believes "la" to be a village - what a depressing dorma town) and share a local with the chief exec of bristol city. they both irritate me immensely but not as much as the city council who thwart all ambition in this town. in westbury on trym where i live they built a health centre instead of a sainsburys which condemns me to shop in a sh1tty co-op. ashton vale already has supermarkets and local shops. a regional hypermarket will bring more people into the area.

build this stadium on the sh1t heap of land that is most certainly not officially designated as a village green and let the rugby and rovers match the ambition if they can. carra would not be allowed today as with most stadiums.

my main concern is that bristol city fans will probably smash it up anyway!

ps am looking forward to taking my 5 year old on saturday and will sign the petition to guarantee a smooth visit to ashton gate.+ On The Ball Bristol fans!

  3. Well.. what a waste of time. Thanks Olano for attempting a genuine football discussion. I am embarrassed that the fans of our team have been unable to contribute to the debate on this board (with exceptions).

This forum can, at times, resemble a dating agency for cyber teens that haven''t yet been given the pocket money for an xbox.

correcting grammar on a message board must be akin to farting in a lift.

  4. chris martin was my mom for quality and workrate, otherwise agree with most of the above. macnamee was great i thought but thats opinions for you. great guard of honour and response from the home fans who were very welcoming.i got bought a pint by the rovers fans after the game as well!there was some good humour on the terraces today too.

on the city fans that were ejected - a rovers fan who was next to it with his boy told me that some smartly dressed 40 somethings were winding up the locals in the main stand ( kids and women) looking for a fight. not very norwich is it really?

  5. pete, the rising sun is still awful but the Flyer is now a foodie modern pub. lots of cafes have opened up as well as restaurants. I think you,ll see an improvement, tho Brynland Ave is a bizarre one way road where I often get shouted at for pretending that i didn''t know!

I am sure that colours will be fine on saturday as there''s no ill feeling towards us.

  6. i will be taking my little boy to his first game!

pete, the annex is still there and glos road has smartened up considerably since the late 90s. altho the glos arms, wellington and inn on the green appear to fill up with gasheads ,there are plenty of boozers on glos road heading downhill towards town. the royal oak is good tho there are lots more.as its all on one road i would follow the yellow hordes!

    • rose - man of the match, good tackling, got forward well in the second and set up holt''s goal
    • draw was a fair result, not really that many clear cut chances
    • forster - superb saves at the end, deserved a clean sheet, but once again poor marking at a corner let him down
    • ref - really poor, completely got away with a penatly decision for swindon in the first halve, clearest penalty (nelsons missed tackle on nouble) your ever see, would have been livid if it was in the swindon box
    • another point on the road to promotion, 4 out of 6 from two tough aways is a good result
    • elliots chance was not clear cut at all, header right on the byline, he did well with it, looks a tricky player
    • hoolahan''s workrate has improved tenfold when opposition has the ball
agreed with most of that tho from the arkell stand the foul looked a foot outside the box. i thought that smith was excellent and would have given him motm.what a keeper we have!

  8. of course the diamond has to change.when any system is ineffective an alternative must be tried. this could be mid game, after 5 minutes or when the need for strength thro the midfield is needed against the better teams. we are not the best side in this league at the moment, i think that we played them yesterday but we can be better. if we stick to plan a only i worry for us against the sides coming up.

we can and should be growing as a side under a new manager. this is lamberts chance to show us that he can get us ready to compete against ccc sides like soton.

  9.

Everytime I come on here you are here Morty. I take it you spend 24hrs in this forum
I wait here all day, just for you, so I can point out your stupidity. You''ll get the message eventually.[:)]
who is the spanishladyboy? i didn''t understand his post.

beck needs to stay at leeds and cause bad feeling whilst barnard could be a problem.would rather our strikers anyday. i still think that we will go up automatically with charlton
Just had a look at some of their recent results: Brentford 1-1 Charlton ... MK Dons 0-1 Brentford ... Brentford 0-0 Leeds United So it might not be a complete pushover over but then we didn''t think that the Col U game would be straight forward either but that turned out OK after some time under pressure.
Not forgetting

by sheer coincidence, i am deluded and am therefore thoroughly looking forward to the 9-0 win.

Brentford 2-1 Norwich and Norwich 1-0 Brentford

I think we''ll win, but Andy Scott has a reasonably neat side that can make life difficult.  Anyone that thinks this will be a pushover is deluded
