  1. In two minds. I always find that familiar tune a bit cringeworthy.

I quite like the idea of varying it a bit, as in the suggestion about personalising it to the player who has scored. It always helps the atmosphere back home when they blast out the player''s choice as he heads out to bat in the one day cricket.

Then again, even at big rugby games of 40-50 000 spectators in New Zealand, the atmosphere is not even close to Carrow Road on a Saturday in terms of the crowds generating their own ''music'' - and definitely nowhere  near as witty.

That settles it, will sign the petition promptly, it just doesn''t seem right here.

  2. Sorry, this is a little late but I just got back from holiday. Haven''t really seen any discussion on the following issue. Apologies if I have missed something.

Just wondering about how we supposedly lost Lambert to Villa for no compensation but paid 2 mil for Hughton, when both were on 1 year rolling contracts?

Happy with McNally''s swift work in getting a quality manager in, but how did we lose one of the most highly rated managerial prospects in the prem without receiving a penny?

Surely, either Lambert''s contract would have required buying out, or, if Hughton wanted to quit Birmingham to come here, we could have taken him for free a la Villa?

Somewhere along the line we seem to have missed a trick.

  3. Must agree Boris. Have been pleasantly surprised this season at how Lambert has got our first choice players competing at this level. The thing that gets me is that whenever we are hit with injuries the replacements are stepping up and performing as well. Even Wilbraham came on the other week and looked tasty!

  4. I have criticised Jackson a number of times this season for not being premiership standard but boy do I have to eat my words after the last few weeks. I thought he looked great today, he wasn''t pushed around and showed some great skills. Ward''s return concerned me a bit as well but he slotted in comfortably, very happy at the all round display and I can''t wait to see the new lads make an impact too OTBC

  5. Interesting situation here, and probably justifiably (sic?) in a thread with this title.

Wages seem to be an issue at the moment and there is a lot of speculation about whether Lambert has the backing he wants.

That nobody has been signed so far in this window suggests Lambert''s first choice signings have proven a bridge too far.

If an experienced prem midfielder were to be available for a relatively modest transfer fee (say somebody coming to the end of their contract), would it not be viable to reflect the saving in that fee by offering higher wages?

Team harmony,of course, is a major consideration, but offering an additional £20,000 per week would, if my dodgy maths serve me well, cost the club £1mill over the course of a one year contract.

    Interested in opinions.

  6. Amazed at our scoring rate overall. Sure, we concede every game, but teams will be thinking they need to put two past us just to get a point!

I love Holt more every time I see him play, and though he has limitations, and looks like a baddie in a Harry Potter film, I''m digging Morison a lot more as the season progresses too.

Just please will the board back Lambert financially and bring in some midfield strength this month (although I think we are home and hosed to be honest).

  7. Must be elated to score in the prem. Positioned himself well. If the grandkids ask about it he wants to make sure there is no footage at hand. Totally down to exceptional work by Morison.  Didn''t know too much about it when it (luckily ) glanced off one leg onto the other and in. Have to say that in my humble opinion he is out of his depth. Found himself one on one a few minutes later and looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Ended up hoofing over because he didn''t back himself to take on the defender.  i guess he may look good in training but I have never seen him play with any confidence in himself in this league. Has a powerful shot and plenty of pace but I just haven''t seen either attribute displayed to good effect this season, and I seriously think that those are his only attributes. Would love to be proven wrong, but sorry, not for me.
