1. I have been reading this thread but got bored! I can''t believe the over-excitement and apparent intense feelings that this subject has created. It is really quite simple. If you want the rebate, to which you are entitled, take it. If you want to make a donation to the Club, don''t. I can easily understand and respect any individual for taking either course of action. Just because someone does something different to a poster or has an alternative view, it doesn''t mean they are automatically wrong.

  2. I admire the optimism but I really feel that judgment should be reserved until DM proves himself. We have had people in the past who said the right things and sounded good. Success in the job will ultimately be determined by what happens on the field and whether the downward trends of the last few years can be reversed. I sincerely hope that he turns out to be a fantastic appointment.

  3.
Best bet of the year and a guaranteed way of printing money. Get onto Betfair and lay "Coventry win" for tonight''s game for every spare penny, pound, grand that you have. I do hope that I am wrong. Could be too late as it looks like it''s already been recognised - Coventry 1.7/1 to win, Barnsley only 1.9/1 to win with the draw at 2.4/1.
As recommended, but only just. Could have been far worse, of course.

  4.
i think whats more worrying is this points out the form of both teams and at this stage of the season its hard to see Coventry turn it around or even motivate themselves, whereas Barnsley will be giving it socks obviously
Probably a combination of this and possible conspiracy theories. For comparison, Saturday''s game has Coventry 1.1/1, Watford 1.9/1 and the draw 2/1.

    Not this old chestnut again.

The season is 46 games long. Some decisions go for you, some decisions go against you. Sometimes the team plays poorly and wins, sometimes they play well and  lose.

Over a season results usually balance out but if it''s not over one season then it''s over two, three, four or whatever

For those with short memories just go back to 2003/4. Sure, we won the Championship, but we had more than our share of good fortune in winning some of those games.

It all evens out in the end.

But how to you define "luck" and "rub of the green" ? I would prefer to base any judgment on facts, e.g. over the course of a season you would expect to gain roughly the same number of penalties as you concede. Anyone got the facts on that?

The old chestnut is the notion that it all evens out in the end. IMO this is just a myth. The fact is that our team has suffered more than it''s fair share of unfair crucial decisions over the last 6 weeks or so which have resulted in us losing many points. I don''t recall experiencing a run of lucky crucial decisions going in our favour earlier in the season that needed to be balanced out later in the season in order to preserve the myth ! ............
Like I said Lord Snooty each season can''t be taken in isolation.

We haven''t been too lucky with the rub of the green this season but in earlier seasons we have been.

But how do you define "luck" and "rub of the green" ? It is all down to personal opinion. I would prefer to base any judgment on facts, e.g. over the course of a season you would expect to gain roughly the same number of penalties as you concede. Or, how many times has a Manager received a telephone call from the referee after the game apologising for getting a major decision wrong.

  6.
The reason for permit parking in the city centre is because people actually live there and some have cars. We have to pay for those permits as most of the houses are Victorian and don''t have driveways. There are plenty of car parks, mostly for charity on Thorpe Road. You can park outside the permit areas, starting just before the Thorpe St Andrew boundary, which is under 1 mile. Off the top of my head, can''t think of many other grounds were parking is free in our league.
I do understand the need for permit parking and the reason behind it. Some streets, however, have no cars parked on the road because the houses are large with driveways long enough to park 10 cars in. For evening games, the empty streets suddenly become full of cars again as the restrictions in these areas only apply to 6.30 p.m.
Norwich City season ticket holders are being offered the chance to get a discounted live football fix this weekend at non league neighbours King''s Lynn.

A free upgrade to the club''s Main Stand is available for Saturday''s Blue Square North home game against play-off chasing Stalybridge for City season ticket holders who pay the standard £10 adult admission price at The Walks.

Lynn commercial director Simon Pomfret is keen to foster even closer links between Norfolk''s two premier clubs with no Championship fixture for the Canaries due to the international break.

Pomfret also confirmed children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the ground for £1 when accompanied by a full paying adult.

"The youngsters are the future of this club and it is my aim to encourage them along to see live football and also to support their local team," he said. "Over the past seasons Norwich players such as Dion Dublin and Jerry Goss have worn both clubs'' shirts and there is an excellent relationship between Keith Webb and Bryan Gunn.

"What we have proposed to do is after payment of the standard ground admission charge of £10, on production of a Norwich City season ticket book, the holder will be given a ''free'' upgrade to a seat in the Main Stand - which usually costs another £2. I think those taking up the offer will be surprised at the standard of football at our level."
I''m going to this game, is anyone else going from here?

Can anyone help me with car parking there plus is it easy to find as I haven''t been before ( driving from Cromer direction)
There are a number of side streets on the opposite side of the road to the ground where it is relatively easy to park. Unlike Norwich where a walk of two miles to the ground is needed because all the streets are empty but restricted to permit parking.

  8. The problem with the England v West Indies referrals was that no noise was being heard for the catches because they hadn''t turned the knobs to activate the sound. So whilst there appeared to be a noise initially, nothing was heard on the replays. It wasn''t till late in the day (4th) that this was pointed out and the knobs were then duly adjusted. In my opinion, players must be removed from the referral system, i.e. leave it to the umpires. Experience has shown with run-out decisions that they tend to refer most even when it is fairly obvious. Therefore, by behaving in the same way there is more likelihood of correct decisions being achieved which surely is the aim.

In the case of NCFC, the length of time taken has increased dramatically from the previous year and this has presumably resulted from internal policy. In the example of the Company in the pharmaceutical industry, if it has always been four months and every party to the agreement is happy, there would appear to be no particular problem. Changes are the indicators and should set alarm bells ringing with those who are owed money.
Sorry, should have said "healthcare"
A clue can be found in last year''s accounts. The average time taken to pay debts (e.g. local suppliers) increased dramatically to, I believe, something like 71 days. This is frequently an indicator of trouble ahead.
If you are usiong this as an indicator of financial stability then all is very rosey in the Norwich garden.

Paying bills in 71 days is much quicker than most businesses. Most big companies work on 90 day payment terms.
The point that I am making is that it has increased dramatically from the previous year (circa 40 days). The trend is to take longer to pay the bills and this does not happen by accident.

I actually played Table Tennis against George Best in Mallorca in 1973 my mate that took the Photo only got a bit of me in picture as he was more interested in getting George''s missus at the time in the photo.

On another holiday when I was 8 I played soccer on the beach in Portugal with the Scottish Football Team, I still have a Photo with Bobby Moncur and Alan Gilzean.

Also played golf and cricket  with Spanish Canary''s Grandad. Who was in the squad for 1959 FA cup run, and he saved a Penalty from Bobby Charlton once.

On the way to Hexham races, we stopped on the outskirts of Newcastle to buy some petrol. On the next pump was Peter Beardsley (with a large BMW). Had a chat with him in the shop whilst waiting to pay. When we came out, he got into his car and drove into Matalan''s car park.
