1.
hmmm....... swings and roundabouts!
Nice find San Miguel!!  Just goes to show that we''ve had the same problems for years now!

Highlands post about "Marlon who?"  Very funny to look back at that now isn''t giving the fact that he has bagged a load this season and is now playing in the Prem, £1million would have been a snip.  Brings home that maybe we should be looking for a cheap up and coming striker from the lower divisions instead of Premership rejects.

  2.
Hang on. At present we are safe but many a slip between cup and lip. I still believe that Roeder will leave this club poorer and is only here to enhance his reputation. He still eyes the premership as where he wants to be and not with us.He will find some excuse to desert at the end of the season leaving us with same old squad and no new signings. I will apologise at the end of next season if he is still here as he will be linked with every vacancy between now and then. Please give me as much abuse as you want, but it is only my opinion-unless any one out there agrees
This is a strange post Sandboy!!  To be honest all players and managers want to apply there trade at the highest level but i''ve seen nothing to suggest that Roeder would dump us at the first opportunity.  If any clubs did come in for him it would only go to show what a good job he is doing with us which can''t be a bad thing.  Its only my opinion but i get the feeling that Roeder is enjoying his time at Norwich and not looking to leave for a bigger.

    Please yourselves.

I was merely reporting what I''d heard from a good scource.

Obviously it has to be rubbish since it doesn''t fit with your own picture.
But that''s exactly what you''re doing! You''re claiming you have information from a source to help you''re own agenda, without providing any proof. Call me a sceptic, but I''d prefer to believe facts rather than hearsay.

This became especially apparent during the transfer window. How many people did we have banging on about Tiny/Ameobi/Patterson signing from "a reliable source"?

Until you can back it up with facts, I''m not going to believe you. I''m not calling you a liar. Maybe you''re correct. To use an analogy, I''m not going to believe in ghosts unless I see one. Sometimes, its just too easy and convenient to claim you know "a reliable source" to backup your agenda rather than prove what you''re saying through facts.
If you want to believe Glen was our boards first choice when they sacked Grant then carry on Norfolk.

I am simply reporting what I heard to the contrary.

Personally I happen to believe what my scource told me as he/she has never been wrong before. It doesn''t help my "agenda" at all because I don''t have an "agenda" and whatever sequence of events led to the appointment of Glen Roeder we appear to have been fortunate beneficiaries.

If the board have been so clever and far sighted in their latest managerial appointment then one has to ask what went wrong with their previous appointment. My analysis for what it''s worth is they simply got lucky.
Why does it matter how the board came to appointed Glenn Roeder?  The only facts the we all know to be true are that they did appoint Glenn Roeder.  It has been a great signing so far and long may it continue!

Capello wasn''t the first choice for the England job but everyone seems quite happy with him so far.

1st choice, 2nd choice, 5th choice it really doesn''t matter as long as it is the right choice which it is in this case, so give the board some credit where it is due.

I started this post in the hope that it might open peoples eyes to look at other clubs in this league and compare ourselves to them and not compare ourselves to our dreams of what this club should be.  We could be a lot worse off!!

I would love to be proved wrong, but I cannot see the play offs as a realistic outcome this season after the dreadful start we had.

By the end of the season the likelihood is that 72-73 points is going to be the cut off point, ,maybe slightly less this season because the whole league is much tighter (nobody is getting away at either end of the table yet).

Although we are only 7 points of the playoffs now, i think it is worth considering who we are 7 points adrift of.  At present the 4 teams in the play off places are Bristol City, Stoke, Charlton and Ipswich.  Of these I would be amazed if Charlton were not to make it at the end of the season, and regretably the scum looks good bets as well based on awesome home form and the fact they must eventually start picking up points away (maybe Saturday marked the turn for them).

For my money therefore to make the playoffs we would need to overhaul one of the other two - and the gap between us and them is 12 and 13 points.  Add to that Stoke have a much better goal difference and it is effectively 13 points for each.  Now I can see Bristol blowing up and falling away when the crunch comes, maybe Stoke doing the same but less likely.  For us to bridge that sized gap needs us to keep picking up 2pts per game and them to have a dramatic fall in fortunes.

There is also the small matter of the fact that were this to happen one of them would seem likely to be replaced in the playoffs by Palace on current form - they are already 7pts ahead of us.   Cardiff are on a decent roll at the moment and also lead us by 5pts and Wolves (for all I dislike them) ought to be in the mix by the end.

I just think to overhaul all these may be a step too far.  For me the playoffs will be between Charlton, Ipswich, Palace and one other (probably Cardiff or Stoke).  We may get close but ultimately it looks like disappointment for me, but then at the start of November anyone thinking of the playoffs would have been labled a binner on a wind up mission so lets just enjoy the ride for a few more weeks.[:)]

Well done Glenn and the lads for at least allowing us to have this debate without us being sectioned!
Good post and I would agree with pretty much all your points.

I think that it is quite easy to get within touching distance of the playoffs but another thing to actually break into them because you need these top 6 teams to start dropping points.  We have seen all season teams getting in touching distance of the playoffs and then fadeing away....Southampton, Plymouth, Wolves, Burnley etc.

Although in my opinion I think there is a chance because I think we will see Bristol fade away at the end of the season as Colchester did last year, I think Charlton could be the surprise team to not make the playoffs because they have sold Andy Reid who has been there playmaker all season (even though been out the last few matchs injured) and also I don''t think Ipsh*t will not make the playoffs because they are scum and can''t win away from home (last wkend was a fluke).

It probably won''t happen but lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that come the last game of the season we finish in the top 6

  5. As you can see I don''t often post but I do read the boards pretty much every day and I have grown a little bit frustrated with all the Board and Delia bashing that is going on.  I like every Norwich City fan would love to see us recieve a big injection of cash into the club so we can go and fork out millions of pounds on signing proven quality players which could take us to the Holy Grail of the Premership.

The biggest problem with seeking a big injection of cash into the club is that it will ultimatly mean new owners.  The type of people/businesses buying football clubs at the moment are not doing it because they love football/club/fans they are doing it to make a return on there investment and in turn putting clubs into millions and millions of pounds worth of debt....look at Ips*it or even Liverpools refinancing.  Ok so Delia doesn''t have the cash we would all like to see at the club but aleast you know her heart is in it and shes not with us to make a quick buck.  All that can be done is make sure the books balance and that we make money wherever possible to invest in the team and hope that GR brings in the right players at the right price after all Wenger has never spent a lot of money compared to the rest of the Premership.  The signing of Glenn Roeder as manager was an obsolute stroke of genius but yet Delia and Board get no credit for this, but we were all happy to slate them about the poor signing of Grant and at least they got rid of quick this time.

With no disrespect, I can hear the Wiz''s and Smudgers etc of this board getting on there high horse already about the lack of ambition but the point i''m trying to make is that things aren''t as bad as you believe.  This January transfer window we made a permanant signing and continued or bought in 7 loans.  There are other clubs in this league that either sold  major players (Plymouth Norris, Watford King, Charlton Reid) or didn''t buy or loan hardly anyone (Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton) making us one of the most active clubs in this window.

A couple of years ago Southampton fans were saying the same things about Rupet Lowe as what is being said about Delia.  With heinsight we can now see how well Lowe was doing at the club because while they weren''t spending big they were stable.  The fans eventually got there way and Lowe was out, and now the club is rotten to the core from the state of things on the pitch going right through the whole club to the admin departments.  Southampton are openly looking for investment and they will take it from anyone and they still can''t find it so what chance do we stand when we are quite rightly being fussy about who takes over our club.  They have loaned out 2 of there best players Rasiak and Scakal in what appears to be a money saving tactic.....how bad is that??

Just to be clear I''m not saying that Delia and the Board haven''t made mistakes because we all do, its part of live and I would our course welcome new investment into the club but I just think we should be careful what we wish for.  The club is stable, we do have some money to spend, (not a lot but some which is beter than nothing) and we are on the up.  So my request to all Norwich City fans is to focus on the positives of our cluib because there are a lot and forget the Delia bashing for a while because things aren''t that bad and who knows with a bit of luck we might make the playoff this season.  OTBC

  6. I really hope today is the day that we announce a couple of new signings.  I''m getting really impatient waiting for new player and worried that we have got rid of so many players even though its all the rubbish ones apart from Lewis.  My concern is that if we don''t replace these deadwood players we could be in some big trouble should we get a few injuries

  7. When i got home from work and switched on Sky Sports News to see the breaking news that Keegan was the new boss at Newcastle i nearly fell off my chair.  This is such a strange appointment because he has been out of football for 2 and a half years and apparently hasn''t even been watching football since he left Man City so surely he can''t have much idea what is going on in the game at the moment.  The Premership has changed since he was in it, the teams are all a lot better and the days of out and out attacking football are a thing of the past.  Newcastles biggest problem over the recent years is being unable to defend so they have brought in a manager that does even know what defence is.

Having said all that though i gotta say that i really like Kevin Keegan and think although tactically as a manager he is not the best, what he does have is passion and a love for the game and you know that he will put in 100% and make sure every player on the pitch does as well.  Just got this feeling that he might well do a good job because he might be the person the fans give enough time to build a team.

Good luck to Kevin and Newcastle as i think there are some fun times ahead

  8. Please you said this Polar because it pretty much sums up what I was thinking too.

What is it with some people on this message board......they are up and down like bloody yo yo''s.  When we win we''re greatest team in the world destined for the playoff and when we lose or sometimes draw everyone is like her comes league 1.

I personally think that after a poor start to the season we are now doing well in the league which is what matters at the end of the day.  NCFC are always rubbish in the cups anyway, can''t remember the last time we even made a quarter final so going out at this stage is no big deal really.  This loss to Bury will be a wake up call to the players and a kick up the ass for the wkend

  9. It is clearly possible for us to make the playoffs this season but i don''t think we will.  Its such a big ask for us to keep our current form up till the end of the season.  We are only 4pts off the relegation zone so I would rather us get safe first and then start thinking about the playoffs.  I also have concerns that say we did make the playoff and went up, we would be the wipping boys in the Prem like Derby are now and no one wants to see that.  Maybe if we got promotion next season we could have a fighting chance of satying up

  10. I''m not worried at all at the moment.  I think this is real exciting times at Carrow Road at the moment, Roeder is getting rid of all the cr@p we''ve got and at the same time sending a message to the current players still in the squad that if you don''t perform and don''t do what your paid to do then you can go.....simple!!

I trust that Roeder has got new players lined up and is confident of getting the right ones in to the club.  If we get to the last week of January and we still haven''t signed some quality players, ideally a centre back and striker then i will start to get worried but not until then as i have faith in the job that Roeder is doing at our club

  11.
How can a chief execitive state a cost of a player one minute then when the contract is terminated the real truth comes out?

this man uses spin more then the politicians we have in this country and why?

Are the Turners watching him like they promised beause i think something stinks here.........
I think this kind of ''spin'' as you put it by the club is standard practice by all clubs in all leagues not just NCFC.  When a club announces that they have bought a player for say £5 million it doesn''t normally mean that they have forked out £5 million cash to the other club.  It normally £5 million based upoon things such as Goals, Appearences, International Caps, Time at the club, Sell on fees etc.

I think this was a good peice of business by the board because it was effectivly a one year loan for £240k with and extra £760k should we choose to take up the 3 year extension on the contract.  I think this is good practise when buying an unknown player from abroad because if he had of done well no other club could have come in and spoid the deal for us.  But as it has worked out we can get shot of him for quite a small loss

  12.
Was he at West Ham with Roeder?
Harewood was not at West Ham when Roeder was there.

Also I believe but might be wrong that Martin O''Neil has come out just recently and said that Harewood is not for sale and even if he was we couldn''t afford him.

  13.

Sorry mate haven''t really seen many examples of this.

Unsporting behaviour, no.  Playing players out of position, only when forced by his ridiculously thin squad.  Utilising the wrong tactics, if he got it right every week he would be super manager and working at a far higher level.  Blame, too right, you get it wrong or it doesn''t go your way find someone else to blame.  Slagging off players, it is necessary sometimes...Grant went OTT, Worthy didn''t do it enough, will Glenn strike a happy medium.

I appreciate this is a tongue in cheek post but IMO you are way off the mark.
...errrr. Russell at right back on Saturday. Russell and Smith wide right when we have Croft fit. Murray wide left at Plymouth. Just a few examples!!
To be perfectly honest GR has turned it around for us, we''re not out of it yet but at least we''re not dead and buried. I don''t see how anyone can currently criticise GR he''s doing a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances.
Spot on!!  I don''t know how anyone can criticise GR at the moment.  When he took over we were 5 adrift at the bottom of the table and unable to buy a draw letalone a win.  He is not going to get everything right all the time because even the Wengers and Fergusons of this world make mistakes.  GR has turned the club around in a short period of time and given us a very good chance of staying in the Championship this season and that is all you can ask of the man for this season.  If we stay up he has done a good job end of story!!

  14.
''Norwich Manager Glenn Roeder has been going on and on about how we are preventing his club from buying our centre back Martin Taylor.
I think that Glen has been quite quiet regarding Taylor in in the last couple of weeks. I think this is a desperate attempt by Karen Brady to try and keep up the publicity around Martin Taylor.  She knows that he won''t go to QPR so she is doing her best to make everyone believe that he will go there so we up our offer.  I think Taylor will end up with us but at what price we''ll have to wait and see

  15.
Andy Reid being out is a bonus,he''s the one who makes them tick and our chances of beating them are much enhanced by his absence.
Spot on!!  The whole the team revolves around Andy Reid.  I saw him when they played Saints this season and he was a different class that day

  16.
we have a very assured future now my friend, there are some very good times ahead for the super blues!
I think you can feel happy at the moment and I would advise you to enjoy it while it lasts my scum friend.  In the short term you are going to have money invested in your team in the hope that you make a quick return to the Premership, if this return to the Premership doesn''t happen this season or next I would be very worried for my team if I was you.

Throwing money at a team doesn''t garantee you will get out this division and if you don''t get out, what will happen to you then??  I might well be wrong here but as I understand it you still owe about £32m its just that this Marcus Evans has bought that debt for £8m.  The club will still end up paying back the £32m its just that he will choose how, when and at what rate of interest.

You now face the problem that you will not get the amount of quality players that £12m should get you because everyone who sells to you will whack on and extra million because they know you can afford it.

Don''t be surprised if in 2 or 3 years time instead of being in £32m worth or debt you are in £44m worth of debt.  Good luck to you and like I said at the beginning enjoy it while it lasts because you might make it up to the Premership and if you do I only hope we can join you.

  17. I would imagine that Taylor is still very much a target for Glenn in January and there is no way that he has forgotten about him.  I also think that Taylor very much wants to come to us.  I think unless a Premership club come in for him he will end up back at Carrow Road.  If the player wants to leave a club and knows the club he wants to go as in this case it usually happens.  Savage is a great example of this, as is Safri moving to Southampton this summer.

The only stummbleing block that I can really see is that these thing never seem to work out for us......

  18. I think well pull it out the back away to Scunthorpe this wkend.  They aren''t doing well at the moment and according to a previous post they have a lot of there defenders out at the moment so i can''t see how they will deal with Hucks.

I also think we will be ok at home to both Carlton and Wolves, not saying we''re gonna win them both but don''t be surprised if we do.  I always think we raise our game and play better against the bigger teams.  Plus we''re at home and with our support anything is possible!
