1. Should we try and sign him in the summer regardless of what league we''re in? He''s out of contract in the summer and it seems like he''s really been putting in the work on the training ground- very much a Paul Lambert style player...http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2011/04/craig_mackail-smith.html#289561

  2. Thank you for your condescending analysis. Pacheco has the potential to be good, but he is not the answer to all of our problems just because he came from Anfield. We were poor today, very poor, but that is not a true representation of our side, thus your questions regarding our central defensive pairing, and an apparent lack of defensive midfielders seem redundant- we know who our defensive midfielders are (Crofts and Fox) they just failed to perform this afternoon. Nonetheless I appreciate you taking the time to grace us lowly championship fans with your radiant presence, we can only aspire to spend £35 million on a long haired lout.

  3. To all those who have stated that we will finish 2nd, we don''t need to worry about the playoffs etc, nothing is certain in football until mathematics dictates that it is so. Of course I want us to finish 2nd, but what if we do miss out and have to go through the playoffs? I admire the belief, but I have been disappointed enough over the years that I''ve watched Norwich not to be a little cautious, in spite of my belief in Lambert''s capabilities as manager.

  4. I know we all got riled up when Forest hit a patch of form, but Burnley are looking relentless at the moment, hopefully they fall away, as I''ve never been the biggest fan of their club. Pompey also look like a threat if they can keep their run going, the momentum seems to be shifting outside of the top 6 in some places now. Any predictions for what the top 6 might look like at the end of the season?

  5. I seem to remember a few seasons ago prior to relegation to league one we were linked with Liverpool''s £35 million man in a potential loan deal. I recall that I didn''t think he was that great then, having spent sometime on loan to Preston, and I stick by that opinion now. I''m not saying I wouldn''t have him at Norwich, but for £35 million? No thank you. The massive inflation of prices that occurred on the final day resonates at the lower levels, with Brighton believing Bennett to be worth £1 million or more. Just a couple of years ago you could buy a quality championiship centre forward for that, now you can barely afford a league one winger. Football is an ever-changing animal, and I fear that at some point the constant inflation of prices and wages will come back to haunt the wealthy footballing world...

  6. I really dislike Burnley, poxy ground, fair weather thuggish fans, nasty part of the country, and now trying to take our manager. We are a bigger club in terms of potential than Burnley, my only worry is that Brendan Flood chap will flash a lot of cash at Lambert so that he is tempted up there. Here''s hoping McNally tells them to do one...

  7. I''ve seen a couple of interviews with Matthew Gill recently, one on the BBC website in which he''s really impressed me with his attitude. Kind of reminds me of Lappin with his professionalism, admittedly with less to contend with than Lappin.I just wondered what people thought of him possibly pushing for a starting spot. I realise we have a shed load of midfielders and in the scheme of things he may not be quite the standard of others, but he definitely had a positive impact against Millwall, and seems to be quite a balanced midfielder, compared to the more tenacious minded Korey Smith, and the all-guile no bite David Fox.Thoughts please...

  8. Leaving the politics aside for a second, thousands of people died, and that is worth some respect. These people may not have voted for the Bush government or whatever else people may like to trace to the provocation of radical muslims, but they didn''t deserve to die in this way. The American people are not the American government.

  9. Looking at Steve Coppell quitting after 4 months if that, Leicester being taken over by a Thai consortium, and the fact that its getting very difficult to know which players play for the various Championship teams- Mark Yeates played for Sheff. Utd the other day, when did he leave Middlesboro''?-  it seems that football is more changeable than ever. Why is football like this? It''s appalling that such a lack of loyalty exists in players, yet this is what we pay to see week in week out. Even 10 years ago, most players showed a bit of loyalty, but now its becoming the exception to the rule. Is it just money or are there other forces at work? The evil Murdoch perhaps? I''m finding it increasingly difficult to get excited when just watching a random football match because very often you don''t know who will be playing, except for the ''top 4'' who are rammed down are throats by the media. Thoughts please...

  10. I''ve been thinking exactly the same with regards to our vulnerability to counters, and how much that is to do with the diamond constricting our midfield. However I can''t see us changing it right away, and rightfully so given the success we had with it last season. I also must say that Watford deserved their win, we looked vulnerable, but we also didn''t create enough to earn all 3 points. Also, I think Macnamee could fit very well into a 4-2-3-1 formation, and I think he is very much underestimated by our supporters.

  11. Totally agree CWC. While I think that having the creative emphasis in midfield is a nice idea, we have to have the ball first. We don''t have players the calibre of the Spanish to chase the ball down, and close the opposition counter attacks down in their half. Unless Lambert can inspire this work ethic in both Fox and Surman, then it may be time to play Smith alongside Crofts, and one other midfielder to give the bite that we need.

  12. So annoyed to see us conceding from counterattacks, albeit with some relatively good play, but its Watford for god''s sake, NOT AC Milan. The signs were there in the friendlies for our vulnerability, and we failed to get out to the wings to close down their midfield on numerous occasions today, while they got up and down the pitch very well. Not at all happy with that.

  13.

Bit worried that the starting XI has changed so much that the team will play like a group of strangers. Given that the first choice team this season is likely to be

Ruddy, Smith K, Whitbread, Ward, Drury, Crofts, Fox, Surman, Wes, Jackson, Holt

    compare that against last years

Forster, Martin, Askou, Doc, Drury, Russell, Smith, Lappin, Wes, Martin and Holt

That''s 8 changes from last season given the way the team played that''s a massive upheaval!! Basically we have a brand new defence and midfiled i fear that a poor start will equal a relegation fight and we will lose the winning mentality we built up last season. Momentum in football is just massive and turning it around is so difficult it took relegation last time for us to turn it round.
Really?Suck My D*ck
You''re hard.
How can you tell?

  14. Right, before I get shot down, I appreciate that we are not in the league season just yet and that Everton were a quality Premiership side but it did raise some positional concerns for me. When Everton attacked us down the wings, and overlapped, for instance with Baines going past Pienaar we looked weak. Russell Martin put in some good challenges which saved us, but we were frequently left outnumbered with either Surman or Crofts not getting out quite quickly enough, and if Everton were in a more ruthless mood they might have exploited that area further.

Again I must emphasise that I was happy with how we played and there were plenty of good signs, particularly in our attacking play but I still wonder about the defensive balance of the side, but hopefully my concerns are entirely unfounded.

  15. While I''m not one for sticking up for Banana usually, he has a point. I don''t enjoy watching the Stoke''s of this world batter their way to a 1-0 victory over us in the Championship, however it was also not a massive amount of fun watching us lose 3-1 to Chelsea, even if we had a brief glimmer of hope thanks to Leon. I suppose really it comes down to the spirit of football, and whether people still believe that on any given day a team of supposedly inferior players can beat a superior outfit. Unfortunately that spirit seems to be dying in the Premiership, but the fact that a team like Blackpool can get promoted from the Championship suggests that footballing romance still remains in the lower echelons of the footballing pyramid.
