He will play the first team and rightly so , some people suddenly think we are Man Utd because we are beating a few poor teams , league 1 sides get knocked out of the FA Cup every season by non league teams ,start believing we are to massive to play our first team and we may well become another . -
Is there any reason to think Holt will still be with NCFC after January? Some bottom dwelling Prem team might come asking, and with money too tempting to turn away. That''s how we got Ashton whom we obviously should have signed 45 months earlier.
Theres not any chance whatsoever of a Premier league side being interested in Holt. -
I cannot see Leeds slipping up this year they have learnt the hard way that the play offs are an absolute lottery , all the more reason that we need to grab that 2nd spot but it wont be as easy as some on here think. -
And with Peter Taylor, a now ebbing and fading managerial star, he has even more expereince in his team of what it takes to get a club relegated!
Only Peter Taylor has turned them down as well . -
I was expecting Cody or Cureton fot Martin for the last 15 - 20 mins. -
We were on top for most of the 2nd half and only really had the one Holt shot to show for it , Leeds had more chances in the last 10 mins than we did all match , maybe we play one or two passes to many . -
How we are the leagues leading scorers is a bit of a mystery , for all our dominance we were pretty powder puff in front of goal . -
I''ve been approached by 14 clubs, reveals David Sullivan
Published 22:45 17/10/09 By Paul SmithDavid Sullivan has been
approached by 14 clubs desperate to secure his financial backing and business expertise since he quit Birmingham City. The
60-year-old co-owner of the club finally walked away from St Andrews after selling his shares to Chinese businessman Carson Yeung in an £80million takeover. But
while Sullivan claims Blues fans never took to him and were hell-bent on driving him out, it hasn’t stopped a flood of offers from other clubs.Sullivan’s initial interest in West Ham is well documented but 13 other clubs have approached him directly.
“It’s my intention to take some time off and then I will look around and see what is available,” he said.
“Although I have been approached by a lot of clubs, any investment has to be right for me.
“The
criteria I’m looking at are a club with a decent ground, good fan base and in easy travelling distance from my home.“The
major obstacles are the over-inflated prices clubs are attempting to charge and in most cases the significant debt that comes with that club.“I would say in recent years the best buys have been clubs like Southampton, Leeds, Coventry and Wolves.”
Ironically,
Sullivan was very close to buying a Championship club two years ago but had to pull out when Yeung failed to buy Birmingham at the first attempt when he couldn’t raise the necessary funding to complete the deal.Sullivan revealed: “I was very close to buying Ipswich Town.
“I
had a two-week window of opportunity but had to pull out because Yeung didn’t come up with the money and the rules prevent me from having financial interest in two clubs.” Despite relinquishing control of Birmingham, Sullivan and his family were still in attendance for the game against Arsenal at the Emirates yesterday. The
only difference was he was watching the game from a private box owned by Terry Brady, the father of his former chief-executive Karren.“I
went because one of my sons Jack is a big Birmingham City fan and the other one David is a huge Arsenal fan. And to be honest I enjoyed the game a lot more because there was no pressure and I wasn’t hanging off the edge of my seat all the time.”Despite claims that he was run out of the club by the home supporters, Sullivan has no regrets about his tenure at Birmingham.
He
added: “My departure was emotional. When we said goodbye for the last time at Burnley the other week there was a lot of tears. But, if I’m honest, the fans got what they want. I don’t think they ever appreciated or realised what I did for the club.“There
was always a very uneasy relationship. When they rioted 18 months ago when we got relegated and I honestly feared for the safety of my family and me, I knew it was time to go.“If
the relationship had been better I wouldn’t have sold the club. I admit there were times when I was very outspoken but every time it had the desire effect.“I applied good business and commercial sense and turned the fortunes of the club around.
“But
when they carry a vote in the local paper asking if the board should go and 90 per cent say they should, you know you’re not wanted and it’s time to get out.” -
Doc staying Doc staying = cheaper option than upping the bid for Seaborne . -
Player i would take a look at (prob wont be popular) Owen Garvan down at Ipswich , was said to have a very bright future ahead of him , captained his countries U21 at the weekend and frozen out by Keane who he says isnt even speaking to him .Turned down a loan move to Colchester but would our bigger club be tempting for him , look at Huddersfield they snapped up Jordan Rhodes because Keane didnt rate him and hes turning out to be the signing of the season. -
What??? To win the league??? from -10 when they struggle to beat poor teams. Nope sorry, any money on them would be wasted. Just like spending any money on Southampton the place - complete waste of time.
If the odds are for promotion they dont have to win the league just finish 6th and win the play offs, they are starting to win matches now and we have shown how easy it is to climb this league , still 10/1 is on the short side . -
I suppose its the Steve Perryman who played for Spurs years ago , always seemed a decent enough bloke , if we want a player we should put a decent bid in its not the first time one of our bids has been called derisory . -
err, in the same way they''ve not cut back the squad to save on the wage bill
and they are not having to to cut costs to try and stem the annual £2m losses, I suppose
there''s a reason they are bottom of the division
that they are 90th out of 92 in points scored
and that''s the same reason why they weren''t able to bring in loanees when they just outside the playoffs
they have not a pot to p*** in (as the old saying goes)
of course they could always use one of those tin plated replica pots they keep squeaking about
Oh come on now they may be a lot of things but skint they are not , just look at the money Evans has spent on new players since he bought the club and as Cam says they will keep spending with or without Keane untill Evans achieves his goal which is promotion . I would love to see them go down but its just not going to happen their squad is way to good and once the first win arrives they will probably climb the league pretty quick. -
Ipswich town are signing a new player ahead of the next championship game. His name is David Blunkit, He may be blind but, He can hold on to a lead... -
Is it really worth making the club a laughing stock in the media just to raise £225,000 which would not buy you any player worth having anyway. If we are that skint lets just get into administration and get it over with , passing buckets around at the matches with nothing in the media would even be an improvement .Clubs a joke it really is. -
Its the sort of thing you would expect from a schools side , humiliating . -
Clearly the club is very close to going to the wall , no wonder the loan players Lambert was on about bringing in never showed up . These stories just make the club look so small time . -
Well Clegg has said today that Evans is in it for the long term and theres more money available for new players so it looks like he has no intention of pulling out , as for Keane i would think he needs a few wins pretty quick or he will be replaced .Lets hope Mark Robins can get Barnsley fired up enough to keep Keane firmly in the brown stuff , for me their next game at home to Swansea will provide the first win . -
Just a vote of confidence -
-
Play offs are still on if we hit some sort of form , top two no chance whatsoever , Leeds and Charlton are head and shoulders above the rest . -
Yes everyone forgets we are a massive 1 point above a league 1 relegation place and have won 2 games out of 9 , not that brilliant for a side who were going to get promoted at a canter. -
Not good enough even for League 1 its as simple as that -
Excellent League 2 striker , an ok League 1 striker (but there are better in the division ) but would be totally out of his depth in the Championship .
Match in HD tomorrow.
