  1. Don''t think twice about it, Kathy. No probs. The name Oz is a slight corruption of ''soz'' derived from sozzled! It was the only time I have gone OTT, and the aftermath was horrible, especially when in the loo being ill and finding my dear chums had done the usual ''cling film over the bowl'' trick. I really, truly have never let myself get that bad since as I prefer the room nice and still, thank you very much! Still, I might consider breaking the tradition of sobriety IF you-know-what happens sometime soon - just as a one-off, mind!!!

  2. Never mind player lookie-likies. Who do WE look like that''s famous? I''m not really sure that I look like anyone famous really, but, take a few years off me and I might be something remotely like Anna Kournikova, I suppose! Ho, hum! (I do play a lot of tennis, REALLY).

  3. Great dream, Wiz. No celery though! Must have been a little dull for you!
Thanks for asking about the root canal treatment. Sadly, this is yet to come...April Fool''s Day - someone''s idea of a sick joke, no doubt. If I disappear from here for a few days you can assume that I am too much of a wreck to type anything or am still asleep having more City dreams as the sedation won''t have worn off.
I had a brief glimpse last night of Leon hitting in a screamer, close to the ground, from outside the box at the N & P end. He was then crushed by the weight of players jumping on top of him and had to be stretchered off! Any interpretations of that one then?

  4. I did like Men at Work and used to play their first album ''Business as Usual'' a lot in the common room at school, but it wasn''t to do with that. A little clue perhaps. It in some way refers to the one and only time I over-indulged and had the mickey taken forever-and-a-day afterwards. Never again. Give me a J2O anytime- orange and passionfruit, of course! That does make me a cheap night out, but in the right way I suppose!!!
Thanks Zipper for referring me further up the board. I had missed that one, I confess.

  5. Thanks Gazza...I''m not that sort, as you put it. I''m quite shy, and likely to blush profusely if I meet any of you lot at a posters party in a few weeks!
Perhaps you''re right, Marty, Kathy might have meant something completely different from my interpretation...which was very similar to your''s, hence my original reply. Perhaps we need more information, Kathy!
I would also like to know how Tumbleweed got his name - again assuming you are a ''he''! Where are you lot? We would like an explanation if possible.

  6. Steady on, a1, I feel a return of the ''City Dreams'' thread coming on! The other night I found myself interviewing Robert Huth about his loan move here...HELP! Anyway, I want to know how ZippersLeftFoot got his name, assuming you are a ''he''!!

  7. I agree, Gazza. You have summed it up really well. Worthy seems, more and more, to be choosing the right people to work with and his approach is paying off. Witness one Jason Roberts who left a horrible taste in the mouth when leaving West Brom for Wigan recently. He didn''t exactly hide his lack of respect for our former manager, and his parting comments were met with equal dollops of bile from Mr. Megson in full glare of the public. Can''t imagine this happening here now - at least I hope it won''t.
As for our Darren being the next one to ''fall out'' with Worthy, just a couple of points. We don''t know if ANYONE has actually ''fallen out'' with him. There are always going to be differences of opinion and no one individual can please everyone all of the time. If used constructively, different opinions can be beneficial, providing everyone knows that there is one person who makes the final decision as the buck stops with him. That individual needs the respect of the others and, as far as I can see, Worthy is working hard to earn that respect. I know that some people have said that Hucks and Worthy had some strong words during a recent match - (Ipswich I think) - , but I always look to see how they react to each other at the end of a game and, for the most part, I have seen smiles, pats on the back, arms round shoulders, and so on. Bearing in mind how hard Worthy tried to persuade the board to invest and make his transfer to us possible, and the fact that he takes every opportunity to praise Darren''s efforts and talents, I think it would take something really dramatic for that good working relationship to break down. It seems as if we are all trying to get inside the minds of the major players at Colney right now. Simple fact is - we don''t know anything for sure, and it''s all a bit of guesswork. (In the event of success, perhaps Worthy should hit a foreign beach in July and write up his diary for the season. Would make compelling reading, don''t you think?)

  8. I haven''t got a nickname on here, but I am told by my dad that, when aged about 5, I had hair just like Phil Boyer when he used to play for us...so my parents used to call me Charlie, which I think was his nickname. It stayed with me right through school as well, but ended when I went to Uni and was renamed Oz, for reasons I won''t go into!

  9. Interesting that it said on teletext that the deal was for an ''UNDISCLOSED FEE''. I think it should have said ''UNDISCLOSED FREE''. Don''t think the Binners will have made anything whatsoever out of his departure, except he''s off their wage bill so maybe they can afford a kit man next time they go to Skegness for a weekend of bonding!

  10. I''ve waited a few hours to comment on this one as I wanted to see what reaction Worthy''s statement provoked in me. Well, I''m surprised, but I actually feel much better for it - not as nervous about tomorrow as I know I would normally be. Perhaps the positive vibes he''s trying to exude will spread onto the pitch tomorrow and we will try to grab the game by the scruff of the neck rather than spend a half or more ''earning the right to play''. On reflection, I think it''s the only way to go now, with just six weeks and nine games to go. Absolutely no point in thinking or saying anything else. Ok, it might all go wrong and he knows that, having made the comments, he will not look very smart if it does, but at least he is building up our team and not trying to knock others, as someone else said above. This is the time when Worthy is really earning his money. I wouldn''t want to be in his shoes right now, but I applaud him for what he has achieved so far and for all his efforts in these six weeks yet to come. It will not be easy, but I believe we can do it if we all have a bit of faith and stick together. (That''s been the one defining quality we have had head and shoulders above other teams this year - togetherness - and that''s what we need now, more than ever).

  11. Hi Mackemlad and welcome to the banter. I have several friends and family in your neck of the woods and they have a lot of respect for our club as I do for your''s, a lot of it based upon the friendly match you refer to. Obviously we are all desperate to get back to where we feel we belong, but no one is really taking anything for granted so, although many are reasonably confident I think it is safe to say that no one will start any partying until it is mathematically confirmed. (I''ve noticed champagne on offer in several supermarkets around here lately, but haven''t succumbed yet...if you see what I mean).
Your recent form seems to be largely good, Cardiff excepted, but you still have to play several of the top teams which could prove your undoing. Still, if you win all of those and the games against the lower teams, and we don''t get the four or five wins we think we still need, then you will deserve to go up. I believe you are going to be missing one of your most influential players of this season for five games soon. (Isn''t Jeff Whitley banned due to two recent sendings off?) Could this cause you problems or do you have a more than adequate replacement for him? Also, although great for you to be in the FA Cup semis against Millwall - and I really hope you beat them, and believe that you will - do you think that this could hinder you in the end due to your fixture congestion?
One last thing I''ve just thought of...if you don''t make it to the Prem do you think you will have to lose some players before next season? Reason I ask is I seem to remember hearing that SAFC is in considerable debt at the moment and may not be able to sustain their current level of expenditure. It would be a shame, but seems the inevitable fate of most clubs that are relegated from the Prem, with a few exceptions, like West Brom.
Look forward to your thoughts on these points. Nice to hear from a sensible guest on here!

  12. I know we''ll never know, but I can''t help wondering whether we might have been in an even stronger position than now if Mr. O''Leary had let Crouchy stay for the rest of the season. Still, here''s hoping that we do go up and that something can be sorted out for next season. He seemed like a real decent guy too, which I think is just as important as what a player brings in terms of skill and experience etc.

  13. This is a difficult one. A real dilemma. If you can want the Binners to win to satisfy our own ends, are you being a traitor? Probably not, as our own need/desire is the major motivating factor, not their ultimate success, however remote. However, actually thinking about wanting them to win does make anyone with green and yellow blood feel quite nauseous. Perhaps a bit of fence-sitting in hoping for a bore-draw - (not likely with their defence though, is it?) - is the preferred option. That way you are not wishing for their success, but are hoping that they will reduce the point-gathering potential of our rivals. As for the title of this thread and my feeling about it...Ich bin KEIN Binner, and never will be, so the draw option it is for me, as with you, Tumbleweed. Know a good fence where we can sit together with fingers and legs crossed?

  14. I don''t know if anyone else noticed this but, at the Gillingham game, every time the camera was on the dugout Jimbo was in the background laughing with the others on the bench. This may mean nothing but it didn''t strike me that this was the behaviour of someone who was upset with life or who had had a falling out with anyone. I may have misinterpreted badly here, so please take with a pinch of salt if you will...but I just thought I would add my observation to the mix. Does anyone else know any more than what''s on here already? I''m intrigued, as we all are.

  15. Sorry folks, have just realised I wrote ''reign'' instead of ''rein''. I was in a hurry and should have been on my way to work! That''s my excuse, anyway. The only thing old beetroot head is king of, as far as I''m concerned, is self-humiliation. In that respect he reigns!!!

  16. You might be right about Stoke, Gromitt, but they apparently pretty much dominated the game and still lost 2-0, so I suppose it''s possible that the result may deflate them a bit. (Wishful thinking on my part, perhaps). Still, the ex-Norwich lads will have every reason to try to prove something here, so they''ll be more up for it than most, I guess. (Still not sure whether to forgive Darel Russell for cutting me up at the Notcutts roundabout last year! Perhaps I will if he scores another o.g. on Saturday).
