Nope! Emphatically no! You reap what you sow comes to mind in his case. I''m not sorry to admit that I smiled upon hearing this. Anyone whose career was ended or interrupted by him would have joined me in a spot of communal smiling, I think! -
I''m not so sure, Peter, that they have forgotten to dose him up - more like they have been giving him the wrong stuff. Imagine the label on the bottle: When 9th in the league and desperate for points take copious amounts of Delusional Elixir. WARNING - possible side effects to sufferers of mediocrity are bucketloads of confidence and belief without any substance, and possible outbreaks of rose-tinted vision amongst those around you, so much so that they might even begin to believe the delusional crap they are being fed by you. DO NOT USE SPARINGLY as low doses may begin to give you a microgram of your credibility back!
Ha! Ha! Keep it up BFJ. This is very entertaining stuff! -
I think you are right to be concerned, Wiz, especially if they are still in desperate need of the points for either play-offs or automatic promotion. A very strong and competent ref is going to be needed on the day. (Does anyone know one? I hear Mike Riley is available!!!) -
This certainly seemed to be the case yesterday, Wiz. Both Worthy (in the studio) and GM were basically saying that they wanted to get enough points asap to make it impossible for others to take the automatic places, and then worry about the title. No mention about pressure on others, how they will buckle and bottle it, etc. This is, as you suggest, quite refreshing. The only thing I personally wouldn''t respond to if under GM''s management is his constant shouting from pitchside, but that''s just me. I respond better to constructive criticism and reasoned argument, but not being publically screamed at. Still, horses for courses I suppose. -
Even Alan Brazil said yesterday''s was a cast iron penalty...so it really, really MUST have been, eh chaps and chapesses? (Will we see him even more on Soccer Sunday now Talksport have dispensed with him, I wonder?) -
sxcanaree - I couldn''t read your post without a lump appearing in my throat. Well said...the lot of it! -
Message for Martin, son of Mr. Cheeseboard:
In the next few days I am going to try to make some ''CHEESEBOARD'' signs. I might even be able to sneakily laminate them, which will make them longer-lasting! On Friday I will leave them with the guys on turnstiles 25 and 26 (I think those are the correct numbers, but they''re the two nearest the clubshop), then you can collect them, take them into the ground and distribute them to people around you. Hopefully we might get them seen on the telly and Soccer AM may decide to feature your dad and campaign to get his cheeseboard back. (As I''m in the City Stand it won''t be easy for me to get them to you any other way, unless you would like to arrange to meet me outside the ground). Hope you think this is ok, Martin, but let me know on here if you have any better ideas or indeed if you do not want me to do this!!! -
I tried to will the Binners to win, but I just didn''t have the stomach for it! There''s a surprise! Still, I think you could be right, pompey. It will look even more daunting to the Mackems to look up at two teams 11 points above them than at one only 9 points above them, especially with their two games in hand. Worthy (at Portman Road this afternoon) said that until it is mathematically impossible for other teams to catch the two at the top he will not be thinking about the title itself. Very sensible man. Us and the Baggies to maintain or increase the gap then, and the Mackems to maybe run out of steam? Hope so! -
You obviously missed the thread when I may have mentioned my lucky green underwear, Mouse!! -
Jimbo looked happy enough as he left Delia''s restaurant this lunchtime, I have to say, but I, like the rest of you, don''t have any idea if there is anything going on in the background. We just have to trust Worthy to do whatever he thinks is for the best of the team on a match-by-match basis. He sees them every day so he knows best! -
And they''ve got to play the Blunts on telly on Good Friday before we play - that''s three games in six days. If they win the two league games and put the pressure back on us then well done to them, but it''s a lot to ask when they must be feeling pretty demoralised right now. -
Somebody out there likes me!!! On Thursday I said that I didn''t think we had seen the best of Matty S. yet, and hopefully that would begin to happen at Burnley. Seems as if it did to a certain extent. (Haven''t seen his second goal yet, but one report I read described it as excellent. Can anyone confirm this?) Well done to the lads for a great win today! I''m a well-chuffed canary this evening!!! -
Just another thing I should have posted before...don''t know if any of you out there were aware of this but it was announced this afternoon that Hucks has been playing for the last few weeks with a broken rib and has been having pain-killing injections before and sometimes during games to enable him to play. I wanted to mention this just in case anyone still felt that he hadn''t been up to much since he signed for us permanently - an utterly ridiculous opinion in any case IMHO - and therefore questioned his loyalty to the cause. By the way, if anyone still thinks he''s been out of sorts, I suggest an evening looking through the stats re: assists and goals scored, and P.S. he had a terrific game today! -
If this season goes on much longer the club psychiatrist will need a psychiatrist!!! Roll on May 9th! -
Steady on DD! I''m blonde and I managed to vote for Hucks after filling in a form thingy! If you have any more problems, I''ll gladly try to guide you through the procedure. Just say the word! -
To anyone who has read Hucks'' comments about Iwan in the Pink ''Un today, two things really strike me about what he says. 1) It is all in stark contrast to what Mr. Saha is reported to have said about teammate van Nistelrooy and again speaks volumes for the team spirit and mutual respect of players at City, and 2) if Mr. Huckerby isn''t careful, lingers too long in Norfolk and continues to inspire and create in the way we love, he will be in grave danger of becoming just like Iwan...a complete and utter legend!!!
Don''t think twice about canaryboyz, Mook. You and I know that it must be the lunchbreak at school, and when lessons are over, CBBC will be back on, so we won''t be troubled again, methinks. -
I agree with your opinion of Crouchy, but sorry, Mook - can''t, shan''t, won''t to the last statement!!! (I can''t imagine some of the guys here have stopped communicating with PC, so he must hopefully be aware of how a lot of us feel on this subject, and that wouldn''t be a bad thing IMHO). -
A quick update for you all: I haven''t had a reply from Soccer Am yet, but I suppose that doesn''t mean that they won''t include our ''cheeseman'' in Saturday''s programme. I shall be watching with interest. I take it that no one liked the idea of holding ''Cheeseboard'' cards at the Wigan game since it hasn''t been mentioned again. (I would have been happy to make some and leave them on the two N & P turnstiles near the clubshop for people to take if they wanted to, so please say if you think this is a goer).
Incidentally, did anyone see both the Capitals'' NCFC flag and East Harling C. C.''s flag at the test match in Bridgetown yesterday? (The Capital''s flag was almost directly below the other one in the Sir Garfield Sobers Stand). It is so good to see our fine club and county represented like this. -
Sunderland at Wimbledon looks like a cast-iron three points to the Mackems, and probably will be. However, assuming that Wigan send the Franchise to their inevitable fate on Saturday, could it just be that the Wombles will relax a bit and play well enough to get something out of the game? Well, not likely, but you never know! -
Yankee, I was having a look at the Villa fans'' website/mb yesterday and they do think he will start on Saturday, but they are all agreed that he has no future under D O''L. There was also someone who said that there is a possibility he could go to Bolton on loan next season as Big Sam is supposedly an admirer of Crouchy''s. If faced with the possibility of a loan spell up north or a permanent move here I know what I would do...but I am biased, of course, and I am assuming that we will go up and can afford it!! -
Glad to put a smile on your face DD. CBBC is over now. I wonder what those whippersnappers are up to now?! -
Tut! Tut! Have you naughty ''canary boyz'' stolen our Darren''s scissors? That explains why his hair is getting longer - he can''t cut it! You''ll soon be claiming thet he can''t hit the ''geat wall of china'' ''cos his hair is in his eyes!!! Run along now. CBBC is on! -
Agree, they have a difficult run-in, Peter, and lots of games in not many days. I have the feeling, though, that the FA Cup semi will be decided on the day and that there aren''t any replays any more. Can anyone confirm this? -
I have just e-mailed Soccer Am about Mr. Cheeseboard, asking them if they can help with our campaign to get Martin''s dad''s cheeseboard back, and explaining what he does to keep us entertained at games. Shall now await a reply and let everyone know if and when I hear anything. (If anyone remembers the ''Save Chip'' campaign of recent years, perhaps we could make some A3/A4 sized ''CHEESEBOARD'' signs for the televised Wigan game next Friday. Is anyone else up for that? I think it could be very funny and would definitely be noticed if enough of us did it. Also, it might help to ease the tension a bit, especially as it''s going to be a real tough and important game. Thoughts please?

That must have sounded almost as good as ''Top of the League at Portman Road''!!! Happy days - and hopefully more to come.
