  1. Right then, this gal does not shirk from a challenge!  When the Man in the Stands said he was desperate for the dirge of ''Oh Huckerby''...etc. etc. ad nauseam to be replaced by something better I thought I''d better have a go and, hopefully, encourage some of you out there to get your own creative juices going!!!

Here''s two for starters, the first to the tune of ''Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen''... (quite appropriate as Hucks was born in Nottingham).

    Huckerby, Huckerby, running everywhere,

Huckerby, Huckerby, stop him if you dare.

Loved by everyone, our adopted son,

    Huckerby, Huckerby, Huckerby!

The second would probably only make sense nearer Christmas and doesn''t need me to tell you the tune!

Now rest we merry City fans let nothing us dismay

For Darren Hucks our saviour he signed on Boxing Day,

To save us from the Nationwide where we had gone astray,

Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy

Oh tidings of comfort and joy!

What do you think?  Awful I know, but at least they might get some others of you started.

Right, I''m off to think of some more.  Hope to return at lunchtime to see loads more on here!

  2. Go on, your holiness...I''ll bet He says you can''t tell us anything if His name is attached to it!  (Are we going to stay up because of a plague of frogs or locusts or something equally pleasant breaking out on the last day of the season?  I know you know really.  I just wish you could tell us!)

P.S.  Could He tell you if the ''HE'' Wiz was talking about recently will sign in the January window?

As long as you continue to say prayers for us I don''t think we can ask anymore.  (Have you seen the list of suspects for the Blackburn job I posted on the other Souness thread yet?  Think some of them need your prayers pretty quick!)

  3. Just to add that some of the candidates for the vacancy at Blackburn being discussed on their fansites currently include Gordon Strachan, Bobby Robson, Gerard Houllier, George Burley, Potato Head, and Barry Fry!!!  Hope that a couple there gave a few of you a lunchtime chuckle!!

  4. Wiz, some of the national press have said today that Sven''s job is on the line right now and that failure to beat Poland could see him being sacked, with a messy compensation wrangle to follow.  Surely you have a potion that could assist in the outcome you desire for I fear, too, that his list of his favourites has more stickability than a crate load of polycell, despite one of them having teflon -coated gloves!!!

  5. I sit next to a dear old chap who is very hard of hearing.  I love chatting to him and hearing about ''the good old bad old days'' but it''s very difficult when he wants a response from me and I have to shout myself hoarse into his ear just to be heard.

  6. Although it saddens me to say it, I can''t think that we will see anyone different between the sticks on Wednesday, and therefore the same on the bench.  Paul Robinson deserves a chance after last night''s howler - (how many more errors are we going to come on here and talk about with regard to the same player before the qualifiers are over?) - and Greeno deserves to step up to the bench, but we all know Sven by now.  He has his little list of favourites who cannot do any wrong in his eyes, even if they consistently underperform and aren''t showing any signs of improving their form.  James (and a couple of others) will still be out there huffing and puffing away while the rest of us sit back and wait for the next sad inevitable mistake.  Never a dull moment, hey?!

  7. Too right, guys...there were too many passengers on the pitch last night for longish periods of time, especially in the second half - our ''illustrious'' captain being one of them!  On the subject of this thread, based upon what went on down the left side (and Bridge didn''t have a particularly impressive game) I don''t think that Darren would have done any worse and, in all probability, would have done a good deal better, although he would be at his best if given a licence to roam...something dear old Sven would be too conservative to even think about I would imagine!

  8. Accepting that we are going with what we''ve got until January, whether that''s desirable or not, I can''t help but wonder what some of the backbone of the West Brom and Palace teams from last season are thinking right now as both clubs have bought enough players to create a brand new starting eleven.  If Worthy can convince all our players, but especially those who helped us achieve so much last season, that he believes they can do the business, and they begin to do just that in terms of results, then he might be able to turn the failure to sign a new striker into a more positive outcome all round.  Of course, it might not happen like that at all and we could end up crossing off the days until that annoying little transfer window opens up again.  (119 days to go then, folks!)

  9. Hi there, canarygirl.  I just wondered how people who are follically challenged can have their hair done like Hucks.  I could, if I wanted to have mine cut and look more like a bloke, but I know a few people who might struggle without implants, extensions, etc.  Just curious!!!

  10. Rustyboy, I saw one guy wearing last season''s away kit almost at the end of the highlights shown on Channel 4.  Were you with him?  It was only the briefest of glimpses, but the LOTUS badge really stood out.  Anyway, I''m guessing you had a great day what with the weather, the result, the TBI, etc.!!!

  11. Apart from the current home kit which I really like it has to be the blue tartan which went very well with jeans!  (Am presently wearing the red away kit from a couple of seasons ago and the centenary shirt as nightshirts, alternating between the two.  Neither goes well with the decor in the bedroom, but frankly...I don''t give a damn!)

  12. I see that ITV Teletext p517 has us signing an out of contract somebody or other, which, I believe, is still possible according to the Prem League rules.  Has anyone been crazy enough to ring today or shall we start a game of ''guess the out of contract player who is signing for Norwich''?  Any takers?  (I won''t be surprised if there aren''t to be honest).

  13. I was about to ask how all you geniuses out there had managed to suss out the smilies when up pops a couple of columns of the little beggars!!!  However, if there''s anyone out there with the technical know-how to explain (in idiot speak) exactly how to do all the other things that others have done then please go ahead.  There must be other technophobes apart from myself who would love a simple explanation.  Thanks in anticipation.  (The new board looks great, and will be so when I''ve learnt how to use all of its features!)
