  1. My understanding is that Ben Godfrey's natural position is central midfielder. I saw him play in that position against Southampton in the FA Cup in January 2017, centrally in front of Bennett and Klose and in my opinion he was comfortably the stand out player for Norwich that night. Such a shame that Klose is not available because my view is that a defensive triangle of Klose and Zimm with Godfrey in front of them would be ideal. That having been said, I think he has performed admirably alongside Zimmermann and it dismays me that such a young, talented and committed Norwich player is the subject of ill thought-out, unconstructive and unhelpful criticism.

  2. We were unfortunate to be the first team to play Arsenal after the sacking of Emery. The Arsenal players knew they were under focus, were playing bottom of the table Norwich and unsurprisingly, therefore, they upped their game. By last night that initial uplift had evaporated, the Arsenal players reverted to norm and they were beaten. In their previous home game, they only managed to gain a point against Southampton by virtue of a 96th minute goal ! Given the clear goal scoring opportunities we had against Arsenal last Sunday, we really should nave beaten them. Based upon their form this season, as opposed to the Arsenal of old, I was frustrated that we did not secure all three points .

I wondered how long it would be for someone to have a go at scousers. People died - fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, sisters and brothers. Does it matter where they came from? Did the people at the front contribute to the pushing at the back? I doubt it, but because they are from Liverpool it somehow makes it ok to lessen what happened. Would it be ok if you said the colour of their skin contributed to what happened?

Nuff Said, how did you manage to make this interpretation from the post to which you were responding ?

  4. What a nostalgia provoking thread ! I remember that night so well. I was with friends in a Manchester pub at the time and after full time I went to the telephone box just outside the pub and phoned the Canary Club Line, waited for the mandatory, revenue generating few minutes of recorded waffle, inserted more change and then heard the result I had been hoping for. Went back into the pub and bought the next round ! What a trip down memory lane.

I'm puzzled NN, I thought Tod (sic) was 'utterly poor' to the tune of 237 replies (and counting)?

I haven't counted the replies posted in response to the TC Utterly Poor thread but hazarding a guess, I would estimate that 91.3% of them were/are in support of Todd

  6. OP should be thoroughly ashamed of himself for posting such an unfair and toxic thread on this MB. After not having started for so many games and therefore lacking match practice, Todd Cantwell was asked to replace an exceptional and unpredictable player and operate within the established system and, unsurprisingly, it has been challenging for him to do so. Nevertheless, he is a player of undoubted quality. I saw him make his impressive debut away at Reading back in October and he was one of the stand-out players in the away victory. It so annoys me when players are singled out in such a negative way. QPR game apart, but with Buendia in the team, our players have looked nervy and unconvincing for some time but with good fortune we have maintained a winning run. Fact is that almost all our players have been lacklustre for some time and IMO particularly against two teams in Reading and Wigan who are fighting for relegation and who sussed us out and set themselves up accordingly. To highlight one player as the cause for these poor performances is, frankly, one dimensionally stupid and completely unsupportive and unhelpful. I really hope that Todd doesn't read this MB. I'm so p----d off with themoronic doughnut of an OP for starting this thread.

I’d like to see a back three of Hanley, Godfrey and Zimmerman, might be he time to do it with the injuries

Agree with this. I felt that this would have been the right approach and set-up against an attack minded, pacey Preston on their home ground and managed by a highly motivated ex City manager and only a few days after a mentally and physically sapping derby game against Ipswich managed of course by another ex City manager, the toxic Mr Bleat.

  8. Frankly, it wouldn't be surprising if, in the absence of an investigation by the FA or, indeed, criminal charges, Oliveira and Reading FC don't consider civil action i.e. taking into account detailed footage (!) of the incident itself, previous incidents, the Ipswich/City rivalry/hostility connection and, therefore, based upon the balance of probabilities. I have to say that whenever I have heard "awfully sorry" in the past, it has always been delivered as an insincere, sarcastic aplogy
