    Apologies for intruding, but if you are prepared to do a little browsing on the internet to find a broader perspective than simply jumping onto the sneering anti-brexit bandwagon you might develop a wider and more objective view.

    Let's be honest here... Cantwell drives a Lambo and charters private jets for his summer holidays, we can't afford to commit to another 3 years of Lambo money on the basis of a perhaps 50/50 chance that Wagner can get a tune out of him next season. 

    It also assumes that Wagner wants Cantwell. He isn't a carbon copy of Farke, we can't assume that he wants us develop us into a team which plays in a way which suits Cantwell, and even Cantwell at his best was not quite good enough to build a team around. He wasn't a Wes or a Buendia.

    Wagner will have his own ideas. I'd suggest that in our post-Pukki reality we might need more conventional wide players, I don't think constantly playing the ball to feet or looking to play in behind is  going to make as much sense as it does now with Pukki... Sargent can and will score a lot with his head.

    Giannoulis is arguably more important to our future than Cantwell, what with him being a quality crosser of the ball when Sargent and Idah are our under contract strikers.

    If we're talking attacking midfielders then start with the question "will they supply our strikers and chip in with goals", Cantwell hasn't a single goal or assist for 18+ months now. 

    Let's not forget that the England U21 manager also dropped him for attitude and then dug him out publicly. 

    I don't consider Webber to be competent anymore, Dean Smith even less so, but the problem with Cantwell begins and ends with Cantwell.

Webber's policy has been to bring in promising young players originating from around the world - Germany, Columbia, Argentina, Cuba, Kosova, Poland, Greece and so on - like a prospector panning for gold, Webber has hoped that amongst the gravel and sediment which ultimately has to be discarded there may be a nugget or two which justifies the process, and we know who those players are. The point is that Todd is not one of these transitory Webber hopefuls, Todd has been a part of Norwich City Football Club since joining the academy as a boy. The Club and the fans have 'invested' in him for 14+ years and we know that he has great ability. One example : i remember very clearly making the long trip to Norwich for the opening match of the 2019/20 season which we won 3-1 (a rather clumsy, wrong-footed Hanley conceding at the last gasp !) with Todd providing two assists for Pukki's brace.

No one is suggesting that Todd is given a three contract. The point here is that we are still hoping to make the play-offs and a remotivated Todd would play an important part in achieving that objective but it appears that Wagner, a manager known for his man motivation abilities, won't have the chance to work with Todd. Webber might get a million or two for Todd, if he's very lucky, and lose his wage bill but what is that when weighed against the possibility of promotion which, in turn, may create a different context for Todd and the Club to consider their next moves. Only my opinion, but I don't think Webber is in any way invested in Todd and doesn't regard Todd Cantwell as his responsibility ; after all he is occupied taking responsibility for so many other players that have come and gone and who are still going, which have cost our Club huge amounts of stake money.

     

    It also assumes that Wagner wants Cantwell. No assumptions on my part. Wagner would need some time to form an opinion and I am pretty sure that there must be other players in our squad ahead of Todd in that particular queue 

    All academic, of course, it seems clear that Todd will be gone withion the next week or two. Never mind the players that come and go, Todd was with us for 14 years and I can't help think that he represents a missed opportunity and that the Club and many fans failed him.

    No, I was referring to the three Norwich managers.

    I would have liked to have seen Wagner spend time with Todd but it seems that the die is alreay cast and Wagner won't have the opportunity to motivate and realise the undoubted potential of the player. 

    As for Parker - Webber sanctioned Todd's loan to a well established, high flying Bournemouth team on 31 January 2022 stipulating a (laughable) £10M option to buy. Parker's deadline day, last minute 'why not' decision was to 'bolster midfield attacking options' despite Todd failing to get match time at Norwich. What Todd desperately needed was game time but, understandably, he was unable to secure a place in a team which, several months later, gained automatic promotion six points clear of third placed Huddersfield. 
     
    None of us will ever know the facts behind Todd's decline but it seems clear that he has had personal problems and it appears, to me anyway, that the Club has shown an absence of duty of care toward him. Only my opinion of course. 
     
    He is a local lad, has undeniable talent, I am sorry to see him go and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

    As far as I can tell he was simply out of favour because of the tactics being employed rather than anything else. I'm sure he would have happily given his all if he'd been picked. And, given the general failure of the team, I can only speculate that we would have done a hell of a lot better if he'd been playing. I really don't get why people are blaming him.

     

    Couldn’t agree more with this. When we did see him playing earlier in the season, there was no doubting his commitment. IMO he is the one player we have who has the unpredictability and ability to do something different, to create something out of nothing, to set up Pukki but,  generally speaking, he has been excluded. Todd has now had three managers in just over a year. The only constant is Webber.

    Possession retention? Did you go to the Swansea match ? All the fans around me were groaning at the number of times we lost or quickly gave possession away. Not only that but I lost count of the numerous crosses that skidded across our six yard box which the Swansea players failed to make contact with and score. We got away with one there, like many of our wins this season.

    This tournament is going to get messy. Kane must wear the armband if he wants to. If he is booked then next match they should all wear one.

    The FA, Southgate and Kane have all backed down. So much for principles. Perhaps Harry will go it alone and still wear the armband. I would admire him if he did but of course he was only going to wear the armband with the 'encouragement' of the FA and Southgate. Never mind, they're still going to take the knee. That will at least make them feel a little virtuous. My opinion, for what it's worth, is this : if the FA and Southgate do possess genuine principles, they should show support for and solidarity with women in Iran and refuse to play Iran. Women and their supporters in Iran are being brutalised, 'disappeared' and executed RIGHT NOW,  but apparenty that's not important enough to warrant any form of protest at all.

    The truth is that we should never have had any involvement in the Qatar world cup but that would have demanded too much integrity and principle from the FA

    Sorry, Herman. In answer to your enquiry, which I must say was very succint* and reasonably posited (I think that's the word to use these days), I am someone who browses the PinkUn message boards from time to time but rarely bothers posting a comment or an opinion. Over the months and years spanning my infrequent visits to the Non-Football message board, I have to say that, of the small brotherhood of good ole boys on there, you seem to be the one that relies quite heavily on a quick copy from Twitter and paste onto the message board. 

    I have reflected and I really don't know what got into me posting that comment. It clearly angered you and I apologise if I you have taken offence. I can only claim the mitigating circumstance of the heat and I assume that I must have suffered a brief dose of heat stroke or, more simply perhaps, I am a little bored and thought it might be fun to poke you with a stick (metaphorically of course) and see what response that might eventuate. It was very random and it seems to have worked but I realise now that I was being quite immature.

    I couldn't agree more with this. I expect Smith to give Hernandez the opportunity to re-establish himself with Norwich in the Championship. Onel is clearly fully fit and ready to prove himself. He has a point to prove and I believe he will.

    It is the economic fundamentals of football in general and the club in particular that makes it impossible for your magical thinking to deliver the unicorn outcome you wish for, not S&J. This new investor you wish for doesn't exist, otherwise they would have come forward by now.

Not many will be able to match what Norwich offered him in that sense.  He's not motivated just  by money or he would never have come to us in the first place, so he could go anywhere - even to a League 1 club if it looks like a good project...but I'd expect him to find a very good club, which after his Russian escapade, could be anywhere.  

     

    I would have Farke in now and Webber out in a heartbeat.

    His howler yesterday shows bumbling Biden, the "leader of the free world" yet again presenting an image of muddled and confused leadership which, in the current world situation, hardly inspires confidence unless you happen to be entrenched in a continuing spectrum of 'Republican Trump bad so Democrat Biden good'. The fact that they were/are both unacceptable for different reasons doesn't seem to have entered the minds of many.
