The Twists And Turns Of A Season

Recommended Posts

It hasn''t been boring, has it? Jus a recap....( so far, and we''re only 25 games in )

  • Apparently, we started out with an intention of scouring Europe for a manager for the new season
  • May 22nd Neil Adams is appointed manager with a 3 year contract
  • It''s announced that Joe Royle is coming to Norwich to lend the hand of experience
  • Then, before he even gets off the bus, it''s announced that Royle has decided to go to Everton
  • Adams gets off to a great start and we''re top of the division
  • Team performances are inconsistent and poor results  and the early call from some comes in for Adams to get the hook
  • November 20th it''s announced Mike Phelan is joining Norwich as first team coach
  • In the first 4 games in December Norwich gets 3 wins and a tie in their league games outscoring the opposition 14-3
  • This is followed by a narrow loss to Reading and another early FA Cup exit at the hands of Preston on Jan 3rd
  • On January 5th Neil Adams resigns & Phelan is made caretaker manager
  • On January 9th Alex Neil is appointed as Norwich manager
  • Alex Neil is to be in the stands at Bournemouth - we go down to 10 men, Neil goes to the touchline -we win
  • January    ?
  • February  ?
  • March      ?
  • April        ?
  • May         ?

Of course, none of us know what scouring really took place, what really was communicated to Joe Royle, what was communicated to Phelan if it didn''t go well for Adams, what has been communicated to Gary Holt ( if anything ). We do know that the target set for Alex Neil is to get the club into the play-offs. What we don''t know, on the other hand, is that if he gets us back into the Premiership as Division Champions will he get David McNally''s bonus? What we also know is that the demoralized state of so many posters has turned on a sixpence in the space of a week such that some now see automatic promotion as being back on the agenda. Now, it may be a lot of things, but it certainly is not boring, right?

It''s certainly not boring and hasn''t been so for many years Yankee. Especially when we look at the binners and their 13 consecutive seasons in the Champs and compare that with our three promotions and three relegations (Including 4 PL seasons) over the same period.
