Kingston Yellow 220 Posted January 14, 2015 During the press conference last week, McNally fielded a question from a journalist which suggested that Fergie had recommended Alex Neil to Norwich. I was interested to note that McNally didn''t deny it.Anyone know anymore about this?
havemyhowsonit 0 Posted January 14, 2015 Don''t know. But fergie recommended David moyes..... Enough said
Kingston Yellow 220 Posted January 14, 2015 Yep, that crossed my mind too! But still interesting to think he had some involvement.
Mr Jenkins 0 Posted January 14, 2015 It was raised a couple of times and there was certainly no denial, more a sort of mildly embarrassed shuffling of feet. I wouldn''t be surprised if he had offered a view on Neil''s ability.
Bury Yellow 2 Posted January 14, 2015 Apologies for stating the bleed''n obvious but of course we have the close connection between Ferguson and Phelan so there could be something in it
Mr Jenkins 0 Posted January 14, 2015 Absolutely, but at the time I was thinking that if Phelan was in for the job why would he be assisting in the recruitment of a rival.I''m not sure that Phelan was ever interested in the managers job.
Yobocop 1,095 Posted January 15, 2015 By the way Van Gaal has not done any better than David Moyes this season and has spent much more Also moyes team beat Barcelona 1-0 a few weeks back #justsayin
Paul101 93 Posted January 15, 2015 Moyes and Van Gaal both have the same points record after the same amount of games but man united have scored less goals this season
canarycop 204 Posted January 15, 2015 I did suggest that this may have been the case in one of my earlier posts after Neil''s appointment. Why would you go after a young up and coming Scottish manager without talking to SAF first even if it was via Phelan. If that was the case then Bravo to McNally I say
wcorkcanary 4,329 Posted January 15, 2015 I''d be more interested to know why Mike Phelan hasnt taken any managerial job at all..... maybe he just doesnt fancy the hassle. When SAF decided he wasnt talking to the BBC, MP did a few interview in his place, he looked as if he was carrying out a duty, foisted upon him, rather than ''this is my chance to impress''. He could be one of those guys that just wants to be a Coach at a stable Club...which he now is.Does anyone have any insight into this?
