Mr Jenkins 0 Posted January 25, 2015 "It doesn''t matter where you''ve played. It doesn''t matter what you''ve done then, it''s what you do now.The squad, for instance. A lot of people talking seem to live off that they played in the Premier League. But the bottom line is they''re not in the Premier League. They''re in the Championship. So the quicker we get used to that, the quicker we realise where we are, then hopefully the quicker we can turn it around and start pulling further up the table."– ALEX NEIL, NORWICH CITY MANAGER
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted January 25, 2015 Good stuff. What a lot of us think.Succeed or fail, clearly he''s his own man and it appears he''ll take no shite .
mrs miggins 0 Posted January 25, 2015 http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/story/2015-01-25/norwich-city-boss-slams-lack-of-hunger/There''s the video here if anyone wants it as well just incase. I like how bold he is, I really do hope he does well, not just for us but because he seems like a driven young chap, wanting to desperately succeed. Really hoping for a win v Birmingham (we better as i''ve put a fiver on us to win 0-4....fortune favours the brave, I think it was Virgil who said that)
Mr Jenkins 0 Posted January 25, 2015 I wouldn''t want to be on the end of their training regime this week. For better or for worse all the players are going to know where they stand.
westcoastcanary 0 Posted January 25, 2015 Yes, good straight talking, directed at the fans as well as the players.
Jim Smith 2,578 Posted January 25, 2015 Straight talking is all well and good but if they were implementing his tactics with that crap yesterday then they are not going to respond to that sort of straight talking particularly well.
canarydan23 4,749 Posted January 25, 2015 It wasn''t a lack of hunger that picked Whittaker in centre-midfield.It wasn''t a lack of hunger that played Lafferty well out of position. It wasn''t a lack of hunger that picked two lumbering, slow centre-halves against what appeared to be one of the quickest teams in the division. It wasn''t a lack of hunger that saw us play long-ball tactics.Yes, the players need to take a lot of responsibility for yesterday and need to up their game, but with yesterday''s lineup and the way we approached the game, we could have had a team of players as hungry as a fat man who hasn''t eaten for a week and we''d still have got nothing. Mr Jenkins 0 Posted January 25, 2015 You''re not going to like this canarydan, but you are going to have to cut him a bit of slack. He doesn''t know the squad yet, he used a defensive lineup that he has seen get two results, Laffs on the left didn''t work and he changed it at half time, and he was presented with a bit of a midd field crises which he doesn''t seem to have managed in a way that brought success. He is going to make mistakes, he has far more excuses than the players atm. FCC 94 Posted January 25, 2015 No longer interested. Do the talking on the pitch, and demonstrate some commitment and desire. Between games I wish the lot of them would just shut up.
mrs miggins 0 Posted January 25, 2015 canarydan23 wrote the following post at 25/01/2015 9:00 PM:"It wasn''t a lack of hunger that picked Whittaker in centre-midfield"-no, it was the fact that all or centre mids are injured."It wasn''t a lack of hunger that played Lafferty well out of position."-no, it was the fact that he''s played there all season when he has played so why would our new manager suddenly put him in a new position unless he was forced to (like Whits) "It wasn''t a lack of hunger that picked two lumbering, slow centre-halves against what appeared to be one of the quickest teams in the division." -no, Bassong has only just come back into the frame, Hooiveld is going out on loan and is also slow, Bennett is out injured, also this is the same 2 that helped win the last 2 games, it''s clear that he wanted to change as little as possible from the performance last week."It wasn''t a lack of hunger that saw us play long-ball tactics."Long ball tactics can work very well, look at stoke. If you don''t get support up quick enough then it''s not going to work. Brentford did the same but were quick to get bodies forward and back. "Yes, the players need to take a lot of responsibility for yesterday and need to up their game, but with yesterday''s lineup and the way we approached the game, we could have had a team of players as hungry as a fat man who hasn''t eaten for a week and we''d still have got nothing."You''re correct in that obviously the preparation wasn''t right. The desire wasn''t there and the lack of an effective game plan also cost us the game. It''s not just the players fault, but the managers as well. The buck always stops with the manager. He needs to get it out of them, they looked void of any ideas going forward, and there''s many reasons for that, all of which can be resolved next week. It''s his second, or third game (whichever way you look at it) unfortunately it will take time to know his players. The buck stops with the manager, but people need to realise it''s going to take a bit of time to know Lafferty is cr@p for the most part on the left (and upfront), but he needs to see that for himself, you can''t expect him to know that automatically. Last week when playing on the left he scored a cracker, surely you can see why he started him?

Barclay seats 4849 the 3rd 0 Posted January 25, 2015 As already pointed out on another thread ,,, RM gives a good interview too ! Personally I am getting properly p*ssed off with the rhetoric from CR , whoever is spouting it , yes he needs time ,, but I would rather he got a couple in ,, dumped a couple out ( which might serve notice to the bunch of slackers we endured watching yesterday ) and made better use of those available ,, Garrido and Olson on the left , Bassong at the back might have been a better bet ? So far nothing has changed .
gitto 0 Posted January 25, 2015 Problem is as a manger you have to work with the players you''ve got and every player is different. The one size fits all tongue lashing may work to sort the men from the boys, but it may not get the best from everybody, and I''m sorry to say this but a modern football managers job is to get the best out of all his players, not just the players who think like him. A quality manager can get a lazy player to track back or put in that extra 10%, but for some players can become pissed off with a manager who they feel doesn''t understand them. It''s a very difficult balancing act..

Billabong 0 Posted January 25, 2015 Every manager deserves some time - Lets just play hoof football and players out of position for a while until this novice manager learns the ropes
gitto 0 Posted January 25, 2015 Nothing wrong with hoofball at this level if you got the players to play it and the pressing players to stop the opponents from playing
