lappinitup 629 Posted February 9, 2015
I think NCISA/INCSA got too detracted by being political when it had a place to bring together supporters and maybe this run by non-political types could fill part of the vacuum left behind.
I think this is a very important point. It must be written into the constitution that the organisation is non-political because, as we''ve seen before, dissent creates a void between the club and the supporters. There are many ways of voicing dis-satisfaction but a social club is not one of them. I feel sure that any organisation that brings harmony and socialising between the fans can only be seen as a good thing and will be supported by the club.I also like the idea of "Taking the City to the County". Getting the club to reach out to these communities can only encourage new fans, particularly younger ones, who I''m sure would be delighted for the chance to meet their heroes. It''s good to see David McNally is receptive to the idea. The PUP''s get-together''s have shown us what can happen when us fans unite under a single aim, and the friendships that have been formed as a result.I have spoken to CA about this several times, and she knows she has my full support. TCCANARY 263 Posted February 10, 2015
From a personal perspective, I was often tempted to join NCISA over the years, but the politics and bitching made me think it simply wasn''t worth my while. I think it''s imperative to remain non-political and act purely as a social lubricant for NCFC fans to come together, share a few drinks and discuss football, the universe and everything in a friendly and relaxed environment. I wish you the very best of luck!
Issue each member with a ''paddle of rebuke'' (like the Fosters advert) that can be used as soon as any hint of club politics is raised. Also, make the press aware that this is a non-political organisation and do not respond to any requests for opinions from them.
CANARYKING 634 Posted February 10, 2015 We have a supporters " club " in Halesworth, yes I know it''s in Suffolk. No committee, no membership fee or any of that rubbish. Just a meet up once a month in a local pub, few drinks, few moans and groans etc and the odd away trip. We have a good relationship with the binners who also have a group here, have played cricket, darts matches with them, very friendly rivalry really. Would be good to meet up with other supporters nearby.
Katie Borkins 1 Posted February 10, 2015 Good luck with it.Personally, opting to spend time with other people based on one shared affiliation is not really where I''m at.My concern for your idea would be what happens when the club goes through a bad time, as is inevitable in the up & down world of professional sport and particularly for a club like ours where we don''t stretch beyond our means - FWIW, I see that as a strength rather than a negative. However, consider how the "club" you propose would have functioned during "Worthy Out", "Roeder Out", "Houghton Out" etc. It is impossible to divorce the club''s performance from the social club''s atmosphere, I''d suggest. ca 1 Posted February 10, 2015 Feedthewolf - Thankyou very much for your feedback and advice which I''ve taken onboard. I quite agree that its important to remain non political and be purely a social lubricant for ncfc fans to come together to have fun in a friendly environment.Lappinitup - Thanks for your supportCanaryking - Thanks for telling us about your social club in Halesworth, agree it would be good to get together with opponents for various eventsBor Bor Bor - Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes. I''m hopeful that a ''''purely social club '''' wouldn''t be too affected if the club are doing well or not quite so well and as I''ve stressed the social club would be run jointly by the club and a bank of volunteers so it would never be an us against them situation, we''d be in it together.I''m so pleased with all the feedback and advice I''ve had on here so far, thanks to everyone who has replied so far, its much appreciated [:)]
rainbow 0 Posted February 12, 2015 I think its a great Idea and CA will do a great job in getting this off the ground provided we all get behind her campaign to convince the club that its a much needed and long overdue facility.
Leedscanary 337 Posted February 12, 2015 Good idea Diane, as you know it was something I was pushing for towards the end of those that shall not be named. It''ll be a hard, thankless task - but you''re the sort of person who will see it through. Will support you from afar as much as I can
morty 0 Posted February 13, 2015 There is definitely an interest in supporters forums, and the such like. The Canaries Trust put on a cracking supporters forum last night with Michael Bailey and Darren Eadie, most enjoyable!

ca 1 Posted February 13, 2015 Its a no brainer that fans forums with players and ex players would be popular, its been proved many times in the past. If the club do decide its a good idea and it does go ahead as a joint venture with them, then who knows what events we could come up with, as I''ve said early days as yet but pleasing that so many people are interested in getting involved.
nutty nigel 7,509 Posted February 13, 2015 A joint venture would be fantastic. After all the supporters are as much part of the club as the team. There''s always been far too much "them and us" for my liking. We are as one.
Yellowfuture 71 Posted February 13, 2015 Good idea, it would be great if you get some buy in from the club, put me down for a ticket if it goes ahead.
TIL 1010 4,722 Posted February 13, 2015 Sign me up my little angel and if you are looking for a humble bingo caller or bog cleaner for these social gatherings I know a man. [;)]Seriously though I wish you well with this and good to see that you have charmed the CEO into possibly having a change of stance over forums etc as one of his first drastic cuts when he arrived at Carrow Road was stopping players and staff from attending such events and ceasing the around the county road shows. You never know open days may be back on the agenda. ca 1 Posted February 14, 2015 Thanks for your comments Yellowfuture and Tilly.Nutty - It would definitely be a joint venture with the club if it goes ahead, I wouldn''t want to be involved any other way.Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the support I''ve received in this thread and by private messages, its been really encouraging. Will let this thread float down the page now but will be back with an update once I''ve had further discussions with the club. ca 1 Posted February 26, 2015 Update 25th Feb 2015I had a meeting with the club yesterday, which David McNally kindly arranged so that I could talk through my idea of us forming a ncfc supporters social club and this is a brief resume of our meeting.I met with 3 nice gentleman at the club and gave them a printed powerpoint presentation which another supporters social club had kindly sent me of how they put their club together. I also gave them a plan of how I thought ours could work , which led to a really good discussion in which they offered loads of good advice about how to get started.I gave them the following assurances1) That we will never have any other agenda than to meet up with other fans to have fun.2) We will never get involved in any club or footballing issues, politics or conflicts.3) Our volunteers will never seek the limelight or get involved in giving interviews to the media/radio re the club or footballing issues4) Our social club will support the club’s charity the ‘’Sporting Life Appeal” which raises money for the CSF, the clubs chosen charitySo you’re now thinking what did they decide, was it bad news or good news well it was neither, it was bloody brilliant news, They really liked the idea of the social club that I described, are fully on board and happy for us to get started, These are the assurances that I got from them1) They will let us use the club facilities/rooms including a bar/staff for our social activities, all completely free of charge2) They will happily provide a mixture of 1st team players and ex players/legends for our fans forums, they were talking about giving us several players for the first one which should get us a good audience for our first event3) For the quiz nights they said they would enter a couple of teams from employees/management and would get the players to enter a team too so we’ll have 3 teams to get us going.4) They will provide little treats & prizes for any members draw if we decide to do them and/or raffles that we may wish to have.5) They will help to publicise our social events via their website/twitter accounts to help usSo there you have it, don’t think its all sunk in yet, I’ve still got the biggest smile on my face and I’m hoping it will stay there until at least Sunday night [:D]Next job is to get together a band of volunteers who are happy to help run these events, you don’t need any credentials, you don’t need a cv , all you need to be is a ncfc fan, a friendly person who gets on with others, someone who enjoy meeting other fans and someone who will enjoy making a difference so others can have fun and you do of course need to be enthusiastic about this ideaSo if you’re interested in helping in any way, please either pm me on here or leave me a dm on twitter where i am @dianencfcfan.We are looking for about 12 volunteers, events would probably be bi-monthly or whatever we decide, so it wouldn’t take up too much of your time, once we all get organised.Once we have enough people interested we can meet up one evening next month to discuss how we see this working, who can do what and when that''s sorted I’ll get back to the club to update them and book a room for our fans forum which I’ve agreed with the club will be held late August, that gives us plenty of time to get organised. Finally, just to make it clear that It won’t be the club building this social club it will be us volunteers, they will remain firmly in the background but will there to give us advice and guidance should we need itThanks for listening A very excited Diane [:D]

YankeeCanary 0 Posted February 27, 2015 City Angel, I echo the comments from Purple. Further, I cannot help but think that if Lakey had your charm and powers of persuasion with Mr. McNally then "the hotel in the corner" would be a distant memory by now.
