To all the board outters

Recommended Posts

When this new board was appointed just after our relegation to league 1,  if somebody would have said to you there and then, this board will broker a deal to avoid administration, deliver us back to back promotions, totally clear the external debt, smash our transfer record and deliver 3 seasons of premier league football, then suffer a relegation and a dodgy start to the championship campaign. Would you have taken it?It''s a simple yes or no answer

Absolutely yes, and those five years of success came with an evidence based managerial appointments.  Why on earth have we gone back to sentiment based appointments of unproven former players?
If we continue to fail, and Adams is given the chop, what chance we see unproven former player Mike Phelan given the post...

These sort of hypothetical conundrums are all very well for a bit of knockabout fun on a dull Wed morning, but you do not need to scratch far beneath the surface to see there is little of reality about them. For instance (and this is one of the questions, as a NCFC fan I''m often asked by outsiders) why, have Delia and the rest of the board seemingly gone out of their way to undo the admittedly good work they did from the Colchester debacle to summer 2012 ?  Why, when other clubs have seen when a managerial appointment was not working, (eg Swansea, Cardiff, Sunderland, C Pal) and acted decisively, have our board procrastinated, and then when they did act, bring in a manager who patently was unsuitable for the very specific job that was needed. ?So, no, I would NOT have taken it. Of course, in itself this is also hypothetical,  but I''ve often wondered if we''d have had a couple more seasons in the Champ, as opposed to back to back promotions , would the whole edifice have been stronger and more adapted to staying in the Prem as a result. ?Although, what Southampton are doing rather puts a spanner in that idea !

We will be back in debt to the tune of £3.6 million if we are not promoted this year and players will be sold in the summer.

Would you care to put a bit more flesh on the bones of that bare statement Who Are you ?If it''s true, on what factors do those figures depend ? Presumably , in that case ,if we can flog RvW to St Etienne (or whoever else would have him ), for the  €5 or 6 m that''s being bandied about, then we would not be in debt, as you say.

Yes - Dodgy Start LOL.

Not sure why this post is aimed at people who want the best for NCFC and without question that means the removal of incompetent Neil Adams.

The answer is clearly NO. It was not a brand new Board at all because the Wynn Joneses were still on it as too was Foulger. The Wynn Joneses were in a weak position at that time because the club was on the brink of administration and they had to bow to the new chairman and chief executive they had brought in to sort the mess out. Once it became clear that Lambert had saved all their bacons and much more besides the Wynn Joneses have since been emboldened to reclaim the club they own so they can put it back where they took it which is League Number 1. After all, how else are you going to get a cosy day out at a village in Somerset for the FA Cup First Round?

So if their objective was and now is again to take us into League one why bother to bring in McNally and Bowkett in the first place ?

McNally & Bowkett are all culpable, McNally probably has a Johnstones Paint Trophy bonus clause in his contract [;)]

For the first 3 years after the Colchester disaster the Board which in all probability was down to the influence of McNally everything was handled well and saved the club.

But then Lambert left and McNally lost it with threatened court cases, withholding bonuses, and taking fans to court for revealing shirts.

Since the summer of 2012 the club have made continuous errors, failing to recognise Hughton''s failings starting with results from Dec 2012 through to May 2013 until the WBA and Man C results gave the season a skewed final position. Then 2013/4 when action should have been taken earlier maybe Dec to get an experienced manager. The Adams appointment followed as a cost saving experiment and now looks to be a ridiculous decision.

The Board have left McNally to make the decisions and seem to sign off on his reccomendations. Now his crown has slipped the Board need to find another CEO who will be less confrontational.

Would rather see another Board with some of these Directors shown the door if thats possible.

Sorry I must have missed something, when did Adams earn his chance to manage?

With zero relevant experience for the job at hand I fail to see how he could possibly be the case, it makes absolutely no sense at all.

Right at the moment there''s a mountain of evidence to support my point of view, just like there was in August and just like there was in May.

Based on a few pretty unimpressive youth league finishes, alongside the Youth Cup win - yeah right.
We even had a disastrous taster as caretaker - 4 defeats and a draw.
Lets hope Adams turns it round soon, because January is a key time - and we can''t afford to waste it like last season.

Ellis. no he did not. He REALLY did not. Adams has done nothing to deserve being handed one of the top 25 managerial positions in the country on a plate. One can perhaps see the rationale in making him the caretaker manager last season because by the time they realised (4 months laters than pretty much everyone else) they needed to act nobody else would have taken the job.

However he then failed as caretaker manager. he didn''t keep us up and we didn''t win a game. We may have played a bit better in some of the games than in previous displays under Hughton but whichever way you look at it he failed and the decision/gamble to appoint him for the last 5 games failed. Fair enough it was probably worth a go. However to then compound it by giving him the full time job in this absolutely crucial first season down was utter, utter idiocy. We basically chucked away the advantage we had over other teams in this league with our squad and resources with that appointment. I bet the rival chairmen in the league were rubbing their hands with glee when we did that.

Whether or not you think Adams was a risk worth taking will come down to personal judgment but the one thing I do not think can be credibly claimed is that Adams earn''t or deserved the chance to manage us. he has done far, far better out of NCFC over the years than it has done out of him. We owe him nothing.
