The good, the bad and the ugly.

Recommended Posts

The good - One or two touch football and moving the ball quickly, obviously drummed in by Phelan, as it has only happened since he arrived.  Redmond looks a million dollars. Tettey looks a class apart.  Goals going in again.  A good battling draw yesterday. 7 points from 9 and back on the right track.

The bad - We put out a team that is going to contain an opposition, leaving out our best players, invariably go behind and/or create little.   Well enough to compete, even score - but is it our best option?  Derby fans apparently think we''re by far the best team they have played.  So why can''t we play with a Redmond or a Murphy or a Wes from the beginning?  If we had, we might have done even better yesterday and won the match.  A point lost given the dominance we had in the match.  So we''re still playing catch up still while other teams are getting further ahead.

The ugly - Poor final ball.  There were points in the match where we put 12 to 15 passes together, slick, impressive etc etc, only to see players who shall be nameless get the ball and misplace a pass or gently lob it into touch.

Overall -  So is it generally good, bad or ugly?   A mixture of all three of course, stopped the rot and picking up points again, looking more cohesive, but still not hitting the target often enough or not getting the final ball in right often enough.  So many times we have lost points this season when we should have picked up more on the balance of play - and good as it was yesterday it was the same thing happening.  To get promotion - even to get into the play offs - we have to improve because if we are not careful, some of the free scoring teams above us are just going to stay tantalisingly out of reach.

In your opinion would have been a good ending to that LDC

Imo it was the midfield passes breaking down that were the problem , losing advantage and putting us under unnecessary pressure at times . Redmond was OK ,, that''s all .

We have had slick one touch passing all season and long before Phelan ever got here ,, it is too sporadic though .

Tettey much the same as Redmond was ok , , that said , decent away performance and valuable point which I think most would have taken before the game , pity it wasn''t all three .

I have to disagree with that. Earlier in the season there were more people holding on to the ball as well as moving it around at times.  Yesterday looked as if it has become the main focus and we looked unbeatrable most of the game as a result.  If we could stick to that way of playing 90 minutes every match we will win the league.........imo [;)]

A good manager will put out the best team which is not always the same as putting out the best players.

If it was always about the best players there would never be any substitutions during a game, except for injuries.
